We have decided to buy a trailer from them, and we drove away feeling so much better about the process than our first buying process. Niemeyer doesn't have a huge staff...we worked directly with Jim Niemeyer. There was no pressure, no add-on sales tactics...just a small business doing business the right way. Even though we are buying it in January, they will keep it in their back lot until we are ready to bring it home...for no cost and no hassles. This is our first review…read more First thing to know is the rentals RV's are very low quality. You can tell once you spend a night in it. Ours, #34, was not properly sealed and you could see the outside through the walls when the side was extended. The muffler fell off while driving and it had a water leak inside soaking all our clothes. I fixed both these problems during the trip. Yet they still charged me a $300 late fee and $280 extra day charge! I was late, but because of these issues. They said I should have interrupted our vacation, called them, and had the RV serviced. I understand this, but I was able to temporarily repair the issues and continue with our family trip. I asked if they could compromise and split the difference in extra charges. The owners are entitled and think they are doing customers a favor. I went here because they are a local business, but their business practices is what is ruining American businesses. I'm a business owner myself and would be ashamed of customer service like theirs. NEVER RENT OR BUY AN RV FROM THEM!!!

I'm just handy and skilled, so I generally do all my own work and don't rely on a service department. The sales/purchase process was easy and without pain. Sure, the finance guy tried to sell me all kinds of extended warrantee's but he quickly figured out that I know how to say "NO" six different ways. After getting the rv home I started having problems with the electrical system. I reached out to Lee and it was like he had turned into rubberman. Every question just bounced straight off of him. I tried to purchase a camper here and ended up canceling the entire deal because of how the…read moretransaction was handled. I requested several upgrades, and everything we agreed on was listed on the purchase order. I specifically asked for the out-the-door price, was given that price, and put down a $1,000 deposit. A few days later, I completed the credit application and was approved. Shortly after the approval, the finance manager called and tried to sell me an additional $900 upholstery protection package. Why wasn't this brought up when I specifically asked for the out-the-door price? The timing, after I had agreed to the price, paid a deposit, submitted a credit application, and been approved, did not sit well with me. If you're going to offer an additional $900 product, tell the customer before they commit to the purchase, not afterward. I canceled the order. Unfortunately, getting my $1,000 deposit back became another problem. I spoke with three different people and still didn't receive my refund. I finally had to drive there in person to get my deposit back. The whole experience left me feeling that I couldn't trust the transaction. An out-the-door price should mean an out-the-door price. I won't do business this way.

In fact when I got my walk through he referred to looking at the manual for a lot. I found that they did not connect my solar panel and they put the wrong size fuse at the battery. I have since talked to many people (not elk river) and have resolved the problem.

A friend told us about their experiences with Keepers (the only other Forest River - Cedar Creek dealer in the Twin Cities and the same distance away as CW in Hugo) so we went to see them. The entire process was friendly, free of pressure and at a better price than CW. Our camper came in and of course there were some factory issues to be addressed (nothing that prevents us from going out and using it). They have been extremely supportive and friendly throughout the entire process, including when we and a problem driving across South Dakota. I do not expect a camper to be free of issues, but I expect a dealer that understands customer service, customer relationships and how to get things taken care of. That is the team at Keepers in our view.
