Quite possibly the loveliest welcome from the loveliest owners of the loveliest hotel we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in many! The rooms were spacious, luxurious, and clean! We wanted to explore the island, but often it was hard not to want to stay at this hotel and soak in the luxury of it all. I will miss making a coffee and watching the sun rise with a good book. We had the pleasure of staying at this most wonderful property owned by Annabelle and Simon Hunton, who were our gracious hosts. The inn is a beautiful well maintained property inside and out. Annabelle, one the owners has a gift for interior design, and she created warm, eclectic and beautifully done rooms throughout. My husband and I visited Martha's Vineyard for the first time for a couple of days in early February. I chose the Nobnocket because of its recognition for several travel awards, and the experience lived up to the hype! Simon and Annabelle are fantastic hosts. I think my husband and I were the only guests because our stay was in the middle of the week in the dead of winter. Our stay on the island was pretty intimate and the Nobnocket was the perfect home-away-from-home before and after heading out for adventures on the beaches. Not to mention, the breakfasts were absolutely fantastic! I felt like a VIP each day and I want to thank Annabelle and Simon for providing such a memorable and perfect B&B experience. We did the Romance package because we were on our honeymoon. 3 nights on the vineyard at Nobnocket followed by 3 nights on The Cape in East Orleans (40" south of P-town) at The Parsonage. We wanted to stay somewhere unique that wasn't draped in florally wall paper and frilly rugs. This home was beautiful and modern but cozy and classic all in one space, while the exterior demonstrated the areas iconic style. We were greeted by Simon, who immediately made us feel welcome and at home while on a quick tour. I was delighted to learn about complimentary morning yoga situated on the lawn each day (the instructor was wonderful!) Everything about Nobknocket was enjoyable. I had to book an appointment with my therapist after this visit Review of Nobnocket Boutique Inn Pending review Buckle up this is going to be a minute. To set the stage....Two of my best friends and I booked a 2 night stay here over $700/night. We haven't been all together in over a decade, traveled from 3 different states and were celebrating an engagement and birthday. We are in our late 30s early 40s. We have traveled the world and this was the worst experience we have ever had with traveling. This was our first experience on MV. The room we booked had a king bed and a couch. Never had a second thought that 3 people couldn't stay in a room. Side note to people with children... you won't be welcome with any. Well when we arrived at 10:30 am and went to check in, we were told only 2 people can stay in a room. We were shocked and upset. We offered to pay more, to sign a waiver anything we can do to help resolve this issue. We were told no, yet if I wanted to shower there I could pay $50. So what is it? You can't have more than 2 people in a room or only to insult them with a $50 shower charge? We checked if there were any other places on the island to stay and the only place available was a shared room hostel. Being a married woman with a child this was absolutely out of the question. The owners Simon and Annabelle were aware of our situation and had zero empathy. In fact they started to treat us as if we were criminals. I was told that I shouldn't even be on the property. All while we are crying and shaking in shock of meeting people that were so heartless we asked if I can at least leave my bag in the room that we paid for and was told begrudgingly that I can leave a bag until 6pm and then I could not step on the property. To assure I wouldn't be on the property they pushed to book me a taxi back to the ferry. We had dinner reservations that evening at 8 and the last ferry back to MA was at 8pm. We booked this place due to the advertised amenities. We looked forward to having a quiet night at the hotel and play croquette and Simon and Annabelle made us feel like we were no longer welcome even if it was just during the day. Needless to say we are friends and we stick together. We ended up having to stay at a stranger's house (Thank you kind bartender) in a room all sleeping on top of a bed together. When we came back the next morning Simon was waiting for us at the front door grinning asking where we stayed last night as if we were 16 years old coming home after sneaking out. When we told him where we had stayed he said "cool!" gleeful that he was able to put us in a potentially dangerous situation. His vibe felt violating and triggering, we walked upstairs and just started crying. Being a business owner I would think you would try to help make the best out of a bad situation and not add fuel to the fire. My friends checked out a night early due to the way we were treated and unwanted. It is beyond disappointing it turned our time into pure anxiety to even step foot on the property that was paid for to stay in. We were watched constantly and none of us were able to take advantage of anything offered to us and why we chose this hotel in the first place. We were treated as second class citizens and felt like we were being profiled. I'm emotionally broken from meeting these people. If you are an older couple I'm sure you will have a nice time, but if you even dare think about bringing a child along with you I would make sure someone has a tent because they might tell you that your child needs to stay in one off property. Horrible experience all around, for me and my friends. I have never had a business owner make me feel so unwelcomed. My advice to them is be kind, put yourself in other people's shoes, don't be so pretentious. We are all human and deserve respect. The least you could have done was make us feel welcome on your property even for just the daytime. read more

We spent a weekend at Martha's Vineyard recently and stayed at the Nobnocket Boutique Inn based on wonderful reviews and because it's on the Select Registry of Distinctive Inns. The Inn is lovely with a beautifully furnished modern interior. There is a great selection of art to enjoy throughout. The owners, Simon & Annabelle could not have been more accommodating! Our suite was very spacious & comfortable and had an adjoining sun room which was great. There are beverages available all day on the main floor and there are ample parking spots. Breakfast was special each morning and professionally prepared. We had a great stay & will definitely return! read more

My wife and I cannot say enough about our stay at the Nobnocket. Proprietors Simon and Annabel were warm and gracious and truly made us feel as if we were staying with family. The room was lovely and comfortable. The added amenities like slippers, night shades and baked goods added to the high comfort level. Annabel prepared a breakfast that was special and delicious. Web site offers 3rd night half off for their summer special--shows availability of a room--and the proprietor says she doesn't want to honor her special, published on her own website, because she can rent the room without it. I'm turned off. There are many other choices on MV. The Doctor's House should do a self examination and figure out how to serve its prospective customers. Regarding your comments to this post: 1) it was an advertised summer special--not a Sept -Oct special as you're now making it out to be; and 2) Both your website and you (when I spoke to you in person) indicated two rooms were available. read more

My wife and I just spent our honeymoon at The Doctors House B&B on Martha's Vineyard, and I must say that we were delighted with our stay in every way. Before getting too deeply into details, I should mention that this is not going to be the perfect B&B for everyone. My wife and I are middle-aged and very independent and self-sufficient. When we arrived, Jilana told us that we had the run of the house and were free to enjoy it (well, aside from their private family quarters, naturally), and we felt very much at home doing so. There was no check-in procedure, no reciting of our car tag number, just directions to find our room at the top of the stairs and an invitation to make ourselves at home. Jilana will engage with the guests if the guests so desire... we had a wonderful conversation with her about the history of the B&B and about our respective pets on our last morning there. But she is not the kind of innkeeper to HOVER around the guests. If you need something, she's there. If you don't seek her out, you'll feel like the house is your own personal residence. So if you need a lot of doting and fussing during your stay, this may not be your ideal choice. For us, it was PERFECT... we were able to come and go as we pleased, and enjoy the public rooms at our leisure. The house is truly lovely. As in all B&Bs in historic houses, our room itself was cozy but spacious enough for our needs. The queen bed was super comfortable, the air conditioning/heating system was controllable to our liking (we only really needed A/C the first evening, the rest of the time open windows were the order of the day... but the heat would be convenient for an off-season stay... hmmmm...), the bathroom was immaculate with newer appointments and sparkling clean, and there was plenty of closet space (plus an iron and ironing board... thank you), and my wife's favorite, super-luxe his-and-hers bathrobes! Also, our room was QUIET, even with windows open, owing to the fact that unlike so many B&Bs on MV, this one is NOT on a main road clogged with pedestrian and vehicle traffic day and night. We heard nothing as we slept, aside from crickets chirping. Nice. The living room is appointed with soft comfy couches and chairs, the dining room features a gorgeous antique Danish table (Jilana's got a great story about that, too), and upstairs there's a glassed-in sunroom that was a great spot for a late-night game of cards. But really, the feature of the house that we loved most was the veranda. Breakfast was served there every morning, with a serene view of the expansive yard which includes an enormous 200-year-old oak. On our last evening, we chose to grab cheese and charcuterie from the Black Sheep in Edgartown and retire to the veranda with a couple of bottles of wine and our cribbage board for our final dinner. It was one of the most delightful evenings we've spent together, highlighted by the arrival at dusk of the flock of wild turkeys (twelve of them!) who saunter in like clockwork to roost in the oak overnight. My experience of B&Bs is that it's the breakfast "B" that can be lacking. Often if there even is a hot breakfast, everyone is offered the same thing; and if blueberry pancakes (or whatever) are not to your liking, you're out of luck. Jilana is an accomplished chef, and offered everything from bacon & eggs to French toast to a parfait of yogurt and homemade granola to a smoked salmon plate with fresh toasted bagel, local tomatoes and capers (my favorite) and a sublime eggs benedict with ham or salmon (with salmon was my wife's choice three mornings in a row). In addition, each guest gets a plate of cut fresh fruit and choice of homemade muffins and scones (the orange cranberry scone was KILLER), excellent coffee and a variety of teas. All of this was served up by the utterly charming Ben, a perfectly professional young actor/screenwriter, and himself a terrific conversationalist. So, to sum up... great location (easy stroll to the center of Vineyard Haven), gorgeous house, outstanding food, and a true feeling of being at home. Doesn't get much better than that, IMHO. The B&B is quite nice in appearance, it has a nice, old island-house look. The room we stayed in was well-decorated and homey. We stayed in room #5, the "Garden View'. The innkeeper was quite pleasant over the phone when booking the reservation. We told her we were going to be arriving early and asked when check in was. She said 2 PM, but told us to stop by when we arrived in case they had the room ready early. She said if the room was not ready we could drop off our things. This sounded great, until we arrived... When we arrived, the innkeeper was just not very pleasant. Before even inviting us in, she brusquely told us not to ask for more towels that day as we had arrived early, and that we could not have breakfast that day. These were nearly the first words she spoke to us. This left us feeling a bit uncomfortable, and not welcomed. The good news was the room was ready and we were able to go up much earlier than the 2 PM official check-in time. Breakfast was provided from 8 to 9 AM. If you leave earlier or get up later, you will not receive any breakfast. The 8AM to 9AM time never worked out for our schedule so we never ended up having breakfast there. It would have been nice if the innkeeper offered us some alternatives, but instead, in a cold manner, she just asked if we were planning on making it for breakfast the next day. Another little disappointment, ice.... The only source of ice is an older refrigerator in the kitchen. I asked the innkeeper if I might get some ice, and she proceeded to fill a cup with ice for me and made me feel as if it was some sort of imposition to her to be asking for it. Access to ice is most typically a standard amenity, even at budget motels. The "Garden View" was not all that impressive. You could only see it from the bathroom. The bedroom had views into a woodsy backyard - not unpleasant but not a view of a garden either. This was not a big deal as we did not stay in the room for a long time. The bed was a bit rickety and not all that comfortable. The shower was nice and hot and worked fine. The shower curtain was stained with dark mildew. There were plenty of dresser drawers to store our clothing in. Lots of moths! The main entrance to the B&B has a light on late into the evening. The result of this is that you are "attacked" by lots of "bugs" on the way in. They seem to follow you into the bedroom or they are getting in there from some other place. So at night before we went to bed I spent a little time getting rid of moths so they didn't bother us while we slept. The room had a nice window air conditioner. This worked quite well, cooling the room nicely. The main door is not locked which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. A bit more disturbing was that you could not lock your bedroom door when you left for the day. You can lock it from the inside while you are in the room, but they do not provide you with a key to lock it when you leave. On our last night there, they never provided us with any new towels nor did they do any room cleanup while we were out. Also in regards to room cleanup, they never provided new soap or shampoo. Once we were out that was it. The Inn provides bikes for the guests, but we brought our own. They suggested we store our bikes with theirs, which are kept in an unlocked garage, and to put a note on our bikes so nobody else would use them. Not very bike friendly if you bring your own bikes. An Inn employee recommended that we not leave our bikes in the garage, as his bike was stolen a month earlier from there. After letting them know that the garage was not a good option for us they did allow us to store them in their basement which worked out ok. The grounds are well kept and there are a couple of hammocks in the back yard. Although parking is limited, we were able to park our car each night. The building and grounds of this B&B are rather nice. The real source of our disappointment here and the reason for the two stars is the lack of hospitality we encountered. In addition, the normal room maintenance one would expect was not provided. The appeal of the "B&B experience" is largely in that welcoming, "coming home" feel one gets from the hosts. This was one of the nicest bed and breakfasts I've ever stayed in. My fiancé and I came here for our engagement and it is just exquisite. The whole property itself and all the decor is extremely well kept and worth noting. Our room was perfect - from the unbelievably comfy bed to the tub and huge shower to the espresso machine! The innkeepers are very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were always comfortable. The attention to detail was what really made this place different: the background music in our room, homemade cookies, and notes placed by our bed with the next day's forecast and food recommendations. And to top it off, of course since this was a bed and breakfast, the breakfast was some of the best! Fresh fruit with Greek yogurt and granola, baked spinach quiche, blueberry French toast with homemade blueberry sauce and more! The innkeepers were also on top of my food allergies and made sure to make proper accommodations. I would highly recommend this place to anyone taking a trip to Martha's Vineyard. read more

We recently returned from our visit to Martha's Vineyard and we were so lucky to find Nobnocket Boutique Inn. Not only is the Inn itself so charming, the grounds are so lovely with beautiful trees and flowers all around. Simon and Annabelle were such amazing hosts and they were always available for questions, dining suggestions or just a friendly chat. Breakfast was amazing and being a boutique Inn, we got to know the other guests who were also raving about their stay. The inn is located in a beautiful setting and just a short walk to the Vineyard Haven downtown area. You can sit outside and sip a cappuccino in an Adirondack chair while reading, relaxing or just enjoy the surroundings. Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed and more. Simon and Annabelle purchased the Inn not long ago and just finished with the renovations. The decor is beautiful, a bit eclectic without sacrificing any of the New England Charm. The Doctors House B&B was lovely! The breakfast was delicious. Great choices including eggs Benedict made to order, croissant french toast, among others. And the coffee was really good - not usually the case in my opinion at hotels/inns. The staff is very nice and helpful and was wonderful with our school aged children. Our room was spacious and clean and air conditioned. The house and grounds are very comfortable and pretty. It's an easy walk to town which came in handy on the bad weather days. I would definitely stay here again. You really want to get your money's worth when paying Martha's Vineyard prices and we definitely felt we did! read more

Don't ever go! The owner is horrible! I booked a weekend at this bed and breakfast and a few days before I called just to ask what their cancelation policy was and the owner was intolerably rude and horrible on the phone. I can't believe the way she spoke to me. I asked if I had already been charged and she laughed at me, said I was already charged and continued to say, "I have all your money and you're not getting it back!" I couldn't believe how I was being spoken to and even said to her that she didn't have to speak to me in such a manner which she responded that she was too busy to speak with me any further. With so many beautiful hotel and B&B options on the Vineyard, I highly recommend never stepping foot on this property or even calling. It's not worth your time or your money. They false advertise their room specials as well as their cancelation policy. Luckily I booked through Booking.com who was great and also told me a lot of other customers had problems with this place. This is my second stay at THE DOCTORS HOUSE in Tisbury. My room is neat and clean and well appointed. The common rooms are inviting and the grounds lovely. We stayed at the newly owned, newly renovated Nobnocket Inn over Memorial Day, 2016. The Inn looks nothing like these photos now - it is all newly painted, newly decorated in a very sophisticated, contemporary décor. The king bed that we had was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in in a hotel. The bathroom was new, with beautiful granite and tile vanity and shower. Our room was spotless. The new owners, Simon and Annabelle are lovely and very accommodating. Our breakfast was absolutely delicious and beautifully served on the outdoor brick patio. The location is a 10 min. walk from the ferry and serves to remove you from the traffic and busyness of Main St., Vineyard Haven. So glad we stayed there and would recommend the Inn without hesitation. read more
