I booked this hotel 3 weeks ago for one night and unfortunately needed to cancel a week later. I have now called 8 times in the past 4 days and interacted with an AI agent via text with no response. When I call, I either get a message that there is a system error and the phone disconnects or I receive an AI generated agent. The AI generated agent states a message will be provided to the reservation and I will receive a call back. No one has contacted me. If I ask to speak with a representative, the phone rings and then disconnects. I still have not been able to cancel my booking. read more

I forgot I had rented my house and found myself in a real jam late at night. Most of the places advertised had extremely outrageous prices. I have driven by the Vineyard Harbor Motel 1000,000 and figured I'd give them a call. I'm so glad that I did and they are now in my phone. Excellent. The motel is updated and crisp. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows not so much. The location is right on the water and the rooms are extremely well appointed for the Vineyard at this price point. The layout of the rooms make them very spacious. The rooms are inside a U shaped structure that is invisible from the street. Each room is accessed by a HUGE deck overlooking the ocean. the location of this motel was just perfect! very close to restaurants and shopping plus its right on the (free) bus line. The room was nothing spectacular, but it was totally adequate. the bathroom/shower was nice and the little kitchenette worked out great for us. The private beach is beautiful and very quiet. You get what you pay for: These are relatively affordable accommodations by Martha's Vineyard standards. But apart from some minor nuisances (the overflow parking was tucked way behind the lot across the street, and the AC unit's lowest setting was jet engine loud), we found our stay pleasant and comfortable. The location is extremely walkable: There's a Stop & Shop nearby, tons of restaurants (Garde East next door is a gem, though expensive), plus bus connections to the rest of the island. read more

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AND RUDE MANAGER!! The rooms we stayed in had almost no resemblance to the photos. We reserved two 2-person rooms; one shown to have one bed and a couch, and the other shown to have two beds, a couch, and a kitchen. The rooms we were brought to each had one bed, and neither of them had a couch. When we brought this issue up to the manager, she quickly and rudely dismissed it. We also encountered a misunderstanding about the number of people allowed in each room. Instead of clearing the rules with us, the manager immediately jumped to conclusions; she stood in our doorway and started yelling at us, instantly accusing us of lying to her. We assumed since the photo showed two beds, four people could fit in a room, but the disappointing reality of the situation as well as the harsh words of the manager made it very clear (after we purchased the rooms) that that was not the case. She gave us no opportunity for explanation. We also found a bug in the bed. The manager woke me up at 12:30 yelling at other guests of the hotel. The fridge froze all of our food. The door to one of our rooms did not lock. The two members of our party who were forced to stay at a different hotel were asked to leave the property when waiting outside for us to get ready. I hope this woman finds love and compassion and learns how to be happy. read more

Rooms are small and smell moldy. Bath insert was chipping and falling apart. Tub was chipping and falling apart. Caulk around tub was all moldy. Total filth in window sills. Never saw a maid the 4 days I stayed there. Outside shower didn't work. All the gutters leaked. Mattress was sunken. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. read more

MANAGER IS UNHINGED AND MEAN!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!! the pictures of the rooms were completely different from what we got. There was a misunderstanding when we booked the rooms because we thought we got a room for 4 people and another for 2 people, the lady came in screaming at us instead of telling us we made a mistake. when we told her they weren't the rooms we booked she completely dismissed us by saying she wouldn't argue with us. We were able to book another room at a different hotel so we could split up into 2s. When we gave her our IDs she was extremely rude saying she couldn't read them. She didn't allow our friends staying at the other hotel to visit and when they were OUTSIDE waiting for us she told them to leave and that we had to go to their hotel instead. She had watched 4 of us (the ones staying in her hotel) go into one room at night because we wanted to hang out before we went to bed and watch some TV and she came knocking on our door telling us we weren't allowed to all stay in there. I couldn't find anything saying the hotel didn't allow guests in the rooms and I have never witnessed such bad customer service. I'm also pretty sure I heard her yelling at another guest at 12am. the other employees seemed so be kind and just trying to do the job but the manager is absolutely insane. I read the other reviews and it seems like lots of other people had problems with her. our room also had ants and were very crappy - definitely not worth the amount of money we had to pay for them. the only good thing about the hotel is that its on the beach. do not stay here. ALSO!!! i almost forgot but the room i was staying in did not lock and made me feel extremely unsafe especially after everything that happened. read more

New management really needs to work on customer service skills and being respectful to guest. I only revisited because I had a great experience the year before and didn't have to look for staff when something is needed or a question was to be asked. When a question was asked this recent visit I received nothing but rude remarks from the manager and she even screamed being unprofessional on the phone. I was not given noticed on the construction going on next door so my stay was a bit noisy. No apologies or any warning at all. Clear communication on needed information during my stay was not provided. The pots and pans that are provided in the room were filthy and of course there were no one to really reach out too! read more

Boy oh boy, where do I even start with this hell-hole? My goodness. Firstly, I would like to say that the room was missing one bed and a living room; is that even legal? Straight up LIED on the website like come on now. There were supposed to be three of us per room and we expected to have much more room than we did. I can't help but leave a one star review on a place that falsely advertises their rooms. That is outrageous. Additionally, the owner was unbelievably rude to us right from the get-go. As soon as we arrived at the place she seemed to already have a strong disapproval and made two of us leave, telling us only two people can stay in each room. If we had gotten the rooms which we were promised this wouldn't have been an issue. We were lucky enough to find another motel whose workers treated us like customers, let alone human beings. I hate giving negative reviews, but this place was very disappointing. I stayed there two weeks for work... I was counting the days when I could leave. First, the positive - Nice location. Parking. Close to restaurants & coffee shops. Has a private beach area in the back. Those good things were overwhelmingly diluted by the fact that the motel staff refused to anything in regard to the costumers smoking in their rooms and in the hallways at night. It claims to be a "no smoking motel," but, when I would return to my room at night, there would almost always be smoke in the hallway from people smoking in their rooms. It looked like the place was on fire and the smoke would come into my room, making everything reek of cigarette smoke. Since the staff leave the property at 8pm, there was never anyone to contact regarding the issue. When I brought it up to the front counter, they just shrugged their shoulders and said they couldn't do anything about it. I asked if there was somebody I could contact whenever the smoking issue comes up again (after they leave at night), and they said, "we can't do anything." Ok? ‍ So, apparently, if you're a smoker, you can smoke at this motel at night. They don't bother you. read more

We went off season. Less expensive than a Holiday Inn in Natick MA with a view of a shopping mall... this had a full (if tiny) kitchen and a view of the ocean. Very comfortable room, good service, great value, incredible location, astonishing view. And it is about a minute from the ferry! read more

BEWARE! The manager, Christine Thompson has a history of wrongfully charging $300 damage fee when Zero damage has ever occurred. She is a real con woman. Should you desire to stay be advised to take before and after room condition pictures. Also this business is very handicapped intolerant and encourages active wheelchair clientele to "go elsewhere". A simple short inexpensive ramp up two front steps could alleviate the access issue. read more

I wouldn't call this luxury, but it made for a great home base for an otherwise fancy vacation! The staff was super friendly and the place was so quaint. It had a little beach between two piers with boats parked and traveling in and out. The water lapped the shore as opposed to waves and there was not much of an in-or-out tide. It was a little rocky, I felt like a grannie going in with beach shoes on. They had lawn chairs for guests too. It was an easy walk from the ferry, great location. (Vineyard Haven is a dry town, btw.) The rooms had a TV and mini-fridge, but no coffee maker, iron, or hair dryer. I didn't think to ask if they had them at the desk to borrow upon request. I also loved the courtyard feel. It was like we had our own little Melrose Place going for the weekend, minus the scandal! The sun rose up right over their little stretch of beach, I would definitely stay here again! read more

I had dreamt of visiting Martha's Vineyard with my family for a LONG time. Searching for a place to sleep was a challenge. Our goal was to rent bikes, explore the island and book a low key place to clean up, sleep and start the day again. I was tentative to book Vineyard Motel based on their rating, however I'm glad I did. Vineyard Harbor "MOTEL" fit the bill and needs. Huge reminder- It's a MOTEL in old school Martha's Vineyard people. It was rustic, yet clean and decent. We could have used a couple of more pillows but not a deal breaker. Our room was close enough to hear the waves crashing throughout the night which was truly dreamy. Please note, those same waves are not surfing waves, if you'd like body or surfing waves... wrong beach. The staff was nice and helpful. We rented-reserved bikes from the local bike shop a block away and had a GREAT dinner next door to our MOTEL. I'll give it 4 stars based on the spacious room, crashing waves, nice staff and location while keeping in mind it's a MOTEL. We will go back to Vineyard Haven and stay here again. Unless we vacation with friends, in which case we'll rent a house. read more

We stayed here for 3 days/ 2 nights in the beginning of August with our family and toddlers. It was the perfect little place for a young family. No waves at the beach, enclosed court yard. The rooms were a decent size with full kitchen and had pack and play setup for us when we got there. Stop and Shop is within walking distance and the ferry is within 10 minute walk. Sidewalks are narrow so its hard to bring luggage down the road but its doable. They have a coal pit to cook on if you bring your own with matches. There is an outdoor cold shower and shower to just clean off your feet. There is some beach toys for kids and about 10 lounge chairs on the beach along with seats near patio. Patio has two picnic tables and an umbrella for shade. The beach was rocky in the start of the shore but gets smooth out deep. If bringing kids they would benefit from beach shoes. The showers in the rooms were great but the bathrooms were a bit small. Our toilet was difficult to get to because of the placement. The bed was very uncomfortable, very hard and cheap. The sheets were ok. The sleep sofa was terrible and cheap as far as comfort goes. The TV went in and out and the WIFI was non existent in our room which was next door to office. The wifi did work outside but was disappointed in that especially when the kids wanted to watch Disney and the TV was only getting in a few basic channels. The carpets were filthy - not crumbs etc just dirty as our feet and socks got disgusting. Other than that room service was great, replaced towels, made bed and cleaned up room. The office staff during the day were great and knowledgeable. The afternoon evening were quiet and didn't know the area well. The morning staff had our room ready early and let us enjoy ourselves while waiting. Much appreciated with toddlers running around. We stayed on the first floor and unfortunately the kids and room above us was very loud, running around late at night and early in the morning playing soccer on the patio above our room. Unfortunately staff is only there from 9am-9pm so we couldn't do much about it. We would probably stay there again as its very convenient and an easy family getaway. read more

this was the most unexpected encounter with the older women who manages this hotel. I'm not sure if she was going through something that day but she was so aggressive and this hotel not paying their employer and I was brought to assist because the employer doesn't speak English and she is Cape Verde. They didn't give her the full amount on her check so I was asked to come in and help translate and resolve the matter and this older lady who is the manager was extremely rude telling me that the Cape Verde women should have come in earlier to get the check and that's since she didn't give her the whole thing but when I asked the Cape Verde lady she said she went back 3 times to get the rest of the money from check and this women would not give to her. This lady got SO loud and frustrated so on record I asked her if she could damn down because I'm not upset and nobody is mad we are just trying to help and she stood up and told us to leave. There was also two kids sitting there inside saw the whole thing happen. read more

I was really surprised at the lack of cleanliness to the rooms. Even more shocking was the bathroom not being cleaned upon our return. All that was done was the beds and they didn't even put a new roll of toilet paper on the holder, which was empty. The tub still had hair and soap scum from that morning. No tissue paper box like most motels have. Plumbing problems with the tub not draining was also a pain. So basically there is little to no housekeeping at this motel. They do have overflow parking across the street. Small little harbor beach. Busy street which increases in loudness after 7 am. Forget about sleeping in. Good walk to ferry dock, it's not very close. read more

Stayed here for a weekend in July. It's a beach motel. Very clean but on the rustic side. The room was big and had a small kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave and toaster. The bathroom tiling reminded me of many old fashioned Manhattan apartments. The staff was nice and helpful at directing us to the main street and different restaurants, as well as which public transportation to take to get into nearby Oak Bluffs. Check out is on the early side, at 10am, but they will hold your bags so you can go out and enjoy the Island. They also provide hotels you can take to the beach. There is a small private beach on the back of the property that overlooks the harbor and has many yachts docked outside. They provide beach chairs, which are always packed. I was happy with everything about the place. It was priced at $240/night, which seems high considering it's a motel, but they can price that way because it was the height of the season and its ideal location in charming Vineyard Haven. read more

I stayed here for a wedding recently. There was a misunderstanding about the type of room we booked, and the man who checked me in was very rude about it. I was not expecting him to work miracles, but basic courtesy would have been nice. The bedroom was rundown but clean; the kitchenette was outdated and the dishes and silverware dirty. One of the stove top burners appeared to be left on but was actually just broken. The location (within easy walking distance of the ferry and the commercial district) is ideal, but I would never stay here again nor recommend this motel to a friend. The price was ludicrous (but I suppose most things on the island are); it was more than $300 for two nights after Labor Day. I'd rather pay more elsewhere. On a positive note, the woman working at the check-in desk on the morning of my departure was quite nice; I wish she had been there when I checked in! read more

Great location, free parking, right on the beach. We chose this motel based on yelp reviews and yelpers nailed it perfectly. This is a charming motel with a private beach, chairs, beach toys for the kids and lots of flowers outside. Very cute. Until you get into the room. Ours was upstairs, and it was a sad plain Jane. A basic bed, no pictures on the wall, sink, toilet, small fridge (convenient) and closet with a few wire hangers, no carpet. However, it was SO MUCH CHEAPER compared to other options on Martha's Vineyard which is why we chose it. Lots of good restaurants close by - it a a dry town meaning no bars and beer/wine only at restaurants. Fine with us. Very nice, friendly staff. Just wish they could spruce the rooms up a bit, add a sheer to curtains or replace them with shutters so that you can open up and still maintain a little privacy, add a few Martha Vineyard pics so you aren't staring at blank walls, thicker towels & sheets, and provide a blowdryer & iron in rooms. Even motel 6 provides a blowdryer! Still, we knew we would be exploring the island and using the room to sleep and shower only so it served our needs for this trip. We'd stay here again to save money, it is definitely a good value. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Vineyard Harbor Motel for our anniversary weekend in August 2012. We loved it! The staff was very friendly and they made us feel very comfortable. They have the best prices on Martha's Vineyard. The rooms are small and a bit outdated but it's clean and the beds are comfortable. The room was very basic, a bed, small refrigerator, small TV, and a bathroom. That's all we needed for the weekend. There were also extra pillows and a pull out bed in the room. The AC worked great in the room as well. The staff came in next morning and cleaned, made the bed, replaced the towels and toiletries in the bathroom. I honestly was not expecting them to do that for the small about of money we paid to stay for the weekend. We were happy! The privet beach was wonderful! They have beach chairs, beach towels, floats, and beach toys for the kids out there for you. My husband and I sat out there all day watching the boats go by. Very quiet and relaxing. They comb the sand on their beach every morning. The water is rocky but it's expected since you're in a harbor. There is also an outdoor grill area with picnic table's right on the beach to cook your meals. They allow you on the beach after dark as well (You must be quiet!). It was great to go out there after we got back to the motel after dinner and enjoy a cocktail. Although Vineyard Haven is a dry town, all the other towns are not. You can jump on the bus to Oak Bluffs directly in front of the Motel. It comes by every 15 Minutes. It's a five minute ride to downtown Oak Bluffs. Very convenient! The bus runs until 1:00am so worries about driving or parking, which is impossible on the vineyard. The Black dog café is right next door along with a bunch more restaurants across the street and down the road. There is also a stop and shop across the street. It's a very simple Motel, don't expect luxury. Its clean, the scenery if beautiful, great working staff and location. It's quiet and relaxing and night life is only 5 minutes away. We will be back again! read more
