Pechuga a la plancha
Phillip C.

Was in the mood for sandwich and decided to come here for lunch. The staff was friendly and quick to take my order. Inside was spacious and clean with plenty of available seating. There is a wall with nice floral designs for anybody wanting to take a picture with. I ordered the sandwich de pechuga a la Plancha (grilled chicken with pepper jack) with fries. Their chicken was not flavorful, and the fries were also not crispy to my liking. Overall, the food was average.

While visiting family in Hazlet, NJ, they suggested a great Colombian restaurant they've been to several times. They raved about how great it is. Hubby & I checked out the menu and it looked great. We chose this since we normally do Italian when we visit. Upon arrival, (forgot to take outside pic...super cold) there were two people chilling by the Christmas tree and a couple eating in the dining area. The inside is spacious, clean, and inviting. There's a small refrigerated case with sodas, bottled water, and a few Latin drinks. There's a bakery case and dessert case. They also serve breakfast and have a fresh orange juice maker. We were a party of 6, so they pushed some tables together for us and took our drink orders. I ordered the cherry lemonade...tasty!! I decided on the whole red snapper for my meal! YUMMM!!! It came with two sides and I chose tostones and black beans. Our table ordered no appetizers and we had 4 other different entrees. At this point the other only customers had left. It took 48-55min for our food to come out and that was after asking what the hold up was; our friends said it didn't usually take this long on a crowded night. The manager's response was they only had 2 cooks. Unfortunately, that was the beginning of the downfall (after my husband was given flat soda; opted to get a canned drink to ensure it's not flat). Two orders of the black beans were room temperature. One item, ordered on a regular, was not good at all, the chorizo in another dish was also cold. The "manager" only listened, wasn't apologetic or thought to make any suggestions on how to fix the issues. It was a complete embarrassment for our friends because they talked the place up and had been there several times. I have two stars for this location due to the lack of skillful communication by a manager, slow service when we were the only ones to be served, serving cold food, unwillingness to make errors right automatically (and without having to be promoted/suggested by the customer) to keep the customers happy, lack of enthusiasm and appreciation of having customers. I would go back to this chain of restaurants, but just in another location.

What a wonderful addition to 35 in the Hazlet area! This location even has a drive through. I am almost certain that every Noches De Colombia restaurant cooks a little different. At this location, I had a beef empanada and bistec con arroz y frijoles. I would have liked the beef in the empanada to be seasoned more as well as the bistec in my main entree. The bistec tasted like they had made bistec encebollado in the same cooking instrument right before cooking my bistec. It also didn't look appetizing but tasted better than it looked. Of course I will eat at this establishment multiple times and will try something different. Perhaps a nice entraña steak.

So happy to see them finally open in Monmouth County! This location is spacious and the staff is super friendly. Stopped in to pickup an assortment of pastries, it was hard to choose from all the different options. The mini fried empanadas were delicious. Definitely going back again for breakfast/lunch/dinner! PS. They even have a drive through!

Food is subpar even for takeout standards. We tried hoping it would be a good addition to the neighborhood, unfortunately we wont be back.

My favorite sides are red beans and rice, also consistently great. MiLina is a very friendly place. We are always warmly welcomed. Servers are attentive and not overbearing. We do not speak Spanish and--on occasion--communication with a server has been slow, but always warm. The staff wants to please. The front room has music some nights and can be noisy, but the back rooms are quiet and service there is impeccable. On our last visit, our server overheard us talking about this meal being for our wedding anniversary. After our main course was cleared, we were presented with a dessert on the house. The plate read, in chocolate sauce, "Happy Anniversary" and was a lovely way to end the meal. MilIna has replaced our NYC go-to steakhouse. Great food and service, close to home.

Stopped by one day ahead to make sure all was set- left a 200.00 deposit since our party was for 10pp, selected 4 apps and 2 pitchers of sangria (white and red) to set on table ready for the guest. They loved the red. We were setup in the first room which was perfect, not to be hidden in a corner - the locals might be a bit loud at the bar so don't be offended fyi. The food was great, as you know that I will call it out if it wasn't- served hot and a good portion. Service was also great from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, great vibes and most of all the birthday celebration woke up everyone as they pump up the beat and sing happy birthday in English and Spanish with a shot of aqua ardiente! Plenty of parking and they also have an outdoor patio- keep up the great job and thank you for your great hospitality!

We ordered two margaritas during happy hour (Monday-Thursday, 11 AM-5 PM) and they were solid, especially at 50% off. The bartender was clearly juggling a lot but still managed to keep the drinks coming and the service pleasant. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the start. After waiting about 30 minutes for our bandeja paisa and already feeling pretty hungry, we ordered beef and chicken empanadas to hold us over. They were flavorful and came out fairly quickly. When our entrées finally arrived, both steaks were cold and overcooked despite requesting medium. The chicharrón lacked seasoning, the rice was cold, and the beans were underwhelming. Overall, the service at the bar was fine, but the long wait and disappointing entrées took away from the experience. At $28 per dish, I expected better quality and temperature. While the discounted cocktails were a plus, the food simply did not justify the price and we probably won't be coming back even though we live nearby.

Went to Milina for Mother's Day brunch before our Mother's Day dinner. (Lot of eating going on on…read moreMother's Day!) We've been to Milina before but never reviewed them. Started out with coconut lemonade and a blood sausage appetizer that came with 2 mini arepas. It was our first time trying blood sausage and we were happy we did! Casing had a nice char and snap to it. Filling was well seasoned and delicious. Arepitas were light, crispy and had a very good sweet corn taste to them. Coconut lemonade was slightly tart which is how I like it and also had a sweet coconut finish to it. I would definitely order it again. For the entree we shared the Parradilla Milina Marinera which came with grilled steak, chicken, pork loin, shrimp and salted fried plantains. We added rice and beans. Grill taste on everything was terrific! Meats were tender and flavorful. Rice and beans were ok. They had free dessert for Mother's Day so my wife ordered chocolate cake which was delicious. It wasn't our first time at Milina and it definitely won't be our last. Servers were very attentive, courteous and accommodating.

The chicken empanada was also good. However, the CANASTICAS (3) DE TOSTONES RELLENOS appetizer was disappointing. It was $10 for three tiny cups, which was not what we expected. It wasn't worth the price, and we could barely taste any plantain. I accepted the conclusion. We also ordered a side of FRIED PLANTIANS (tostones). We received only three pieces, and they were extremely thin--so thin they could bend like taco shells. They were not the traditional thick, crispy tostones we expected. My husband's BANDEJA PAISA was also disappointing. The chicharrón was thin, hard, and difficult to chew. The steak was thin but good. The beans- good. Sausage-ok. A lot of rice on the plate. Then the receipt came with an automatic 18% gratuity. We don't recall seeing this noted on the menu, although it may have been listed somewhere. We were only a party of two, so we were surprised to see an automatic gratuity added. Be sure to check your bill carefully so you don't accidentally leave an extra tip. Overall, the food and value did not meet our expectations. It's simply not for us, though it may match other people's expectations, and that's okay.

The atmosphere was welcoming and lively. I was greeted promptly by a friendly young lady at the front and she suggested that I try the beef empanadas. They only cost a few dollars so I went ahead and bought two. So as I walked to the car, which was conveniently parked in the lot behind the restaurant, I immediately unwrapped my empanada. At first, I thought it was going to be like other empanadas that I've tried which have a crispy shell however these empanadas are similar in a way, but are very different in texture. These empanadas are a bit softer on the outside and have a denser inside filling which include potatoes and beef and it was quite delicious. I thought I could eat both of them, but after one I was full. I will definitely be back to the restaurant since I'm always in that area and it's literally five minutes from where I live. I can't wait to try other items on their menu.
