I really loved the beer selection at this place! This tastes a little more like a stout than a sour, but it really was good! I tried my friends creamsicle and it was AMAZING. I really loved the atmosphere but was disappointed there were no food options. They had a charcuterie board person there which sounds so fun but when we arrived at 7pm he had cleaned up. They were so nice about saying we could bring any food in, but I wish there were options there! I will have to revisit on the weekend to try out the barbecue! read more

Really limited options in terms of beer and absolutely no other options for non beer drinkers such as myself. My first visit was for their Columbus Zoo animal visit. With this being a bar, I was not expecting children, much less an army of them. During this event my heart went out to the animals and zoo staff who worked hard to keep the mass of children at a safe distance away while their parents were blissfully unaware at the bar. This type of establishment is probably a dream come true for parents looking for an escape, but that really infringes on the experience for others. read more

We enjoyed our time at Nocterra. The space is huge which is awesome for bigger groups but even parties of 1-2. They have nice outdoor space too that may also have food trucks (we saw a sign for them but none were there). There were a lot of beers I was excited to try, being a fan of sours/gose but the flight was a little expensive ($12). However, you get 5 pours so it may be worth it to some. read more

I prefer an adults only atmosphere. Parking can be a bit tough. I enjoyed having a variety of beer flight options and the food truck partnership is a nice option. That was some excellent beer. Not an overwhelming number on tap, but a solid variety. Betaflash in particular got a lot of love and I can see why. IPA game was modest but more than strong enough, too. Food truck rotation works out too, always nice to have BBQ on a perfect fall day-- well just a hint of rain-- with friends to catch up. They usually have a food truck, when i went it was barbecue which was absolutely so delish. I got the keylime coconut seltzer which is now my all time favorite seltzer. Bravo. We had a wonderful day at The Columbus Zoo, and were looking for a cold beer. We love trying all the new breweries in town. After a quick google search we found that Nocterra opens at 3pm during the week. On their website they said they are heavy into IPA's and sours. Though I do love IPA's, I'm not a fan of sours and usually small craft breweries that devote a good amount of their time to sours are usually not my favorite breweries. I was fully prepared to have a flight of beers that I was not a big fan of. We beat their after work crowd and found ourselves at the bar looking up at their big menu. The male bartender on staff at the time was unique. After a while his continuous rambling began to bother me, but there is tons of space inside so I just kept telling myself we don't have to sit at the bar once he gives us our beers. I went with a flight which consists of 5 beers of your choice. My beer choices were The Great Stoutdoors, Beta Flash, Scioto Coast, Onsight, and Trail Break. And guess what.....all my assumptions were wrong. My flight of my choosing did not have to have one sour in it. As we moved away from the bar to distance ourselves from the slightly creepy bartender, we laid our eyes on the promise land in front of us. Nocterra has a patio!!! Just wait until you see the outside patio. It is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It will be Nocterra's money ticket. There is so much space and so many places to sit, whether it is at a covered picnic table, under the overhang on the back wood patio at a high top or picnic table, or around a gas fire with lounge chairs. So many choices. They have enough green space to have corn hole games in the distance. The outdoor space is so expansive. We settled in to the perfect spot at a picnic table on the patio. We began sipping our flight and guess what......Nocterra is right, they do specialize in bold IPA's. I was a big fan of Beta Flash and Onsight. I couldn't choose which one I liked better, so I had to get a pint of each. It was so relaxing on that patio, even when the train rumbles by. Overall, we really enjoyed Nocterra and their beers, definitely more than we would have guessed. Other than the kind of creepy bartender we loved it! read more

Stopped in to have a drink and lunch with a friend recently. It was my first time at Nocterra and I'll definitely be back! Great selection of beers and seltzer's on tap, as well as cans to take home. Staff was friendly and in masks, there was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, they had arrows on the floor to direct traffic, and they even had fires going since it was still a chilly day. He corrected me while I was speaking with someone else about American IPAs, then seemed happy for us to leave when I closed our tab. That was myself and my brother, in our 60s, along with my son. This was a wonderful surprise to stumble upon. I love trying local breweries and mixing things up, and Nocterra didn't disappoint. I went on a nice cool evening, so outside seating was a must when looking for a place to enjoy the night. The location of this brewery is kind of in the middle nowhere but yet perfect! They had ample places for seating, a stage outside for live music and to top it off...fire pits! If outside isn't your thing or the nights are a little Chilly for you, the inside atmosphere is designed chic and chill. They have tables and a bar to sit at, along with lounge seating. They host events and vendors every now and again so make sure to check out their site for updates. Would highly recommend! read more

A great place in Powell for beers and to watch the train by sitting outside during nice weather. Took two stars off because of limited beer menus and limited parking area. You must be careful of parking spot where you should park and where you shouldn't. They only have 3 IPAs, one pilsner and two sours. I plan to try flights of 5 but i am not big fan of IPAs and sours so i just tried pilsner which called Dreadmill and tried one of bestsellers, Beta flash. Quite surprised that we didn't wait that long for an outdoor seating. Perfect outdoor places for the beers during COVID. Check it out if you are near Powell! read more

First the good... Great beers (best sours/Gose in Columbus). Tap room itself is VERY well done...nice job keeping it period correct. Staff always nice. Now the not so good... kids everywhere with many parents oblivious to their unruly children (screaming, running, throwing rocks). As a dad of two, I happily employ a babysitter when we want to hit a bar/brewery. We even saw a diaper change on one of the picnic tables. Summary... I'll still go/support Nocterra...their beers are that good. But if you are seeking a bar/brewery to relax with friends, you are better served at one that caters to the 21 and older crowd. read more

Came here with my wife's family over the summer, and really enjoyed it. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and enjoyed our seat on the covered patio. It is right by the train tracks and our niece was very entertained by the train passing by. Beer wise nothing was exceptional or stood out, but everything was good. My favorites were The Dan- a dunkel, Trail Break- a lager, Space Godzilla- a pale ale, and Scioto Coast- a DIPA. Overall the beer was good, and we would definitely come back again. read more

A "First" for me... visiting an actual Brewery that isn't just another restaurant/chain or bar. Didn't really know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised with a couple of things.... First... this place is kid friendly and actually advertises as such!!! What!!! I can actually go, sit down and actually experience what it is like to get out and visit with friends on a Sunday evening. A place that has Capri Suns in their fridge as a drink choice for the kiddos just shows how seriously they are to catering to the whole community Do you know how rare it is to find a place like this??? As a single mom, I can't tell you how much it means to find a place where you feel welcomed, otherwise I would be hoping to maybe be able to experience a place like this once a year, if I am lucky. And for those complaining about the kids, well ALL the kids there were well behaved and I could actually enjoy my time there. I know what it's like when it is an obnoxious atmosphere and this is not!!! And for those question why I would take my kid to a bar... again this is an Brewery with class and embodies community. There is a big difference, in my opinion, between expectations and experience of a place like Nocturnal versus a "bar". Secondly...I also wasn't expecting there would be much I would like at a Brewery. I am not really a beer drinker but I also don't go to a Brewery for them to cater to a non-beer drinker like me, with a plethora of non-beer choices...I came to hang out with friends and family. But I got to try something new!!! My sister picked out a sampler of a sour beer for me and I really, really liked it!!! For non-beer drinkers there is sodas and of course water... but have an open mind, step out of your box and sample something. You never know you might find something you like!!! Because of being open to trying something new, I now know there is actually a beer I like! I am kinda excited to try more!!! This place is really neat! Even though they were out of most of their beer from being so busy we still had a nice ale and lager we had to accompany our yummy tacos from the food truck outside. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't have the stouts that I wanted to try, however, they had a beer i wouldn't have thought to try that I enjoyed. The atmosphere was nice, the woodwork in the restaurant was amazing. The staff was friendly and Hilarious. My first time visiting Nocterra was today and it was a very nice experience. The bartenders seemed happy to be there and were prompt with their service. There are three different areas where you can relax, an indoor area, a covered porch, and an outdoor beer garden. The beer garden has a plentiful amout of tables, campfires, benches, and what appeared to be an outdoor bar for the warmer months. I tried both their winder sour and their porter, both were delicious. The sour was called Schussing Sticks and it was sour, as advertised, with fruity notes. The porter was called Terra Misu and it was possibly the best coffee porter I've had in a while. The coffee was very forward, which I liked, but there was also a sweetness to offset the bitterness. I'd like to go back during the warmer months and experiment the outdoor area in its full glory. Overall, I'd visit again and look forward to trying their other offerings. read more

Unfortunatly because of Covid they had just gotten back to ramping up their brewing so their were only 3 beers on tap and a few hard seltzers to try. The beer was really good, and i actually really liked the hard seltzer. Loved the BBQ truck they had parked their, got some great BBQ and plenty of leftovers to take home. Really nice outdoor seating, and a very clean and well spread out indoor area as well. There is not a ton of parking i could see that being an issue for when the place gets very crowded. Very friendly staff and a great time, i would gladly stop here again. read more

Nocterra is such a cute brewery right in the historical town of Powell. I went after a snowy day at work and felt like I had walked right into a ski lodge!
