Nodo!!!! I use to love this place. Great tiny sandwich shop in Iowa City that has great BLT's, wraps and sandwiches of course! My last visit here the service was bad and the wait time was about 30 minutes when there were only two other patrons. I ordered a salmon melt and it was awful, unfortunately. It may have been just an "off" day

Fast, quick bite for lunch! I really like their sandwiches (mostly the ham/chicken options, not too much of a fan of the salmon sandwiches), but they can be a bit too cheesy or stuffed to the point where everything is falling out. Still....its yummy! The wait takes a bit, it's around 10-15 minutes. I really loved the berry lemonade!

Fries with a special mayo dip

Really quirky place that has two levels of seating. I ordered the Bahn Mi which came with fries. The Bahn Mi was very Iowa-nized which is not a bad thing. Instead of sliced pork, they used pulled pork which was tender. I thought the fries and the dip was the star of the show. Seasoned perfectly and sauce was mayo based with different spices. Definitely worth the visit.

I dined in upstairs today with a great view. My favorite is the Cobb wrap. I always have to get the fries with a side of their delicious aioli. This place always has good quality food and great service.

I cannot out into words how wonderful this establishment, for a variety of reasons. The fries are excellent, everyone working there seems to not only like working there, and it was one of the first places in Iowa my sister took me too after I moved. But no, the reason I wrote this review was because I asked for some extra salt on my fries, explaining that I had a bad day at work and wanted them extra. They proceeded to leave a wonderful note on the bag, as well as tuck in one of their wonderful fresh baked cookies. I will be returning here as long as they remain open, and I highly recommend everyone reading this to do the same.

    Breakfast sandwich and blueberry lemonade

Stopped by during my lunch break for the steak sandwich and liked it enough to come back to try the breakfast sandwich and blueberry lemonade. Both sandwiches were delicious-- some of the best I've had. I was really excited for the blueberry lemonade but unfortunately it was pretty disappointing, didn't taste any blueberry flavor. It was basically just sugar water and the only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars. Vibes of the place are great and definitely recommend the sandwiches!

    Thai peanut wrap w/ tofu

I am so happy to be back in Iowa City and stimulating our local economy again! A friend offered to treat us to dinner so we all went to Nodo for something quick before our Friday night rituals. My husband was adventurous and branched out of his comfort zone (thanks for your recommendations fellow Yelpers) by ordering the c&p. I can't say I've ever heard him order corned beef before but he was stoked to try something new. Unfortunately, the sandwich fell a bit short. He wasn't a big fan of the tangy taste of the coleslaw in the sandwich. My Thai peanut wrap was slightly lacking in flavor, maybe add some more sauce? I also wish the tofu were marinated. The fries were great- crispy, slightly greasy, and perfectly salty. Paired with the aioli sauce, you can't go wrong with these. Beware, the portion size is small and intended for *one* person. Overall, Nodo was okay. The service was fine. The food was fine. The atmosphere felt like a college dorm with random string lights dispersed around the restaurant, but maybe that's a vibe? I can't say anything terrible but I likely won't be back because my experience was mediocre.

Whoa! DELICIOUS! This place definitely lived up to the hype. It's in a cute little restaurant off to the side of a nice walking, downtown area. I ordered the ham and mango sandwich and the sweet potato fries with garlic aioli. The sandwich was fresh, unique, and delicious! I would recommend it to any first-timer. I plan on trying the grilled cheese next time. The sweet potato fries were on point and the garlic aioli took them over the top. Such a fun meal in a fun location! Definitely give this place a shot!

Created a Yelp account just to write this. Steak Sandwich was an easy 5/5. Place is a vibe too.

Sandwich was good and the staff was super friendly. Though it was busy place could've been more clean.

The food is a solid 5/5 for what it is, but the portions are rather small for the pricing. A nice lunch date place.

It's only been open since 9/25, and it was recommended to us from the hotel where my wife and I were staying. We dined there on a Friday night around 7pm, and the place was probably 3/4 full. Like we often do when we travel, we bellied up to the bar and had dinner there. Most times the bartender will fill you in on the history of the place, make menu recommendations, etc... so it's a good place to gain intel when you know you're going to write a review. The bartenders there worked in tandem, but they were both friendly and more than competent, so we waited for nothing. My wife ordered the M&M Burger with a side of the Parmesan Truffle fries (a slight up charge). She ordered it medium rare, but it came out well done.. however, it was so damn good, we didn't end up sending it back. The fries were delicious as well. I ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli, and it was also delicious. The menu description said it was served with a Brown Butter Sage sauce, but it was definitely more of a cream sauce. Again, it wound up being good, but it was what I expected. I would definitely recommend 401 Oak if you're in town and in the mood for something a bit more upscale and different.
