The hardest type of mechanic that you can find is an honest one. Steven, the owner, was recommended by a friend. I took my diesel Jeep there to take care of the diesel particulate filter that is a constant problem for the 2014 diesel jeeps. Had I taken it to the dealer which one you Google the problem says it's a dealer only fix, it would have cost me two or three times the amount. Instead, I took care of that problem through Noel Miller, A full 20,000 mile service, smog for my registration, and took care of a recall notice which he arranged through the dealer for at least half the cost that the dealer quoted me. I recommend the shop and will be bringing the rest of my vehicles and my families vehicles here. read more

Lenny from Santa Clara Wreckers referred me to Steven at Noel Miller after I went to our regular local mechanic and then the Serramonte Ford fleet service and they both said the part they needed which I purchased from Lenny at Santa Clara Wreckers was the issue. However SM Ford wouldn't install used and of course they discontinued the part from Ford. The truck is a Ford F-150 2006 and they discontinued the part? SM Ford said sorry there's nothing they could do, it's electrical. And I felt defeated, but I called Lenny to ask if there was anyone he thought could help me, and he did!!! I called Steven and told him about the situation and he asked me to bring the truck in and he asked me, "What was wrong when I'm driving the truck?" Not just stick the electrical connector and diagnose it like everyone else. It drove sluggish, can't go over 30 mph and the RPM gauge goes up and down when I gas it, and the truck seems to be draining battery and always on. Steve diagnosed it after about a week or so (please don't rush the man, he's a freaking master mechanic). And said it might be the crank case and if so it'll be $850 or $2,500, but I don't know till I try. And then he fixed it. The price was about $1,100. He's a genius! read more

My car broke down on the freeway in morning rush hour traffic, and although they were FULLY booked for the day (and Steve was under the weather) - they took me in with open arms and made sure that I was SAFE and sound until help arrived. Once at the shop, they gave me great auto advice, serviced my faulty alternator/replaced my battery, and they ensured that I had a mode of transportation for the day (really? really.) ...AND THEN they had me out the door and on my way in minutes...Oh AND they stored my car for over a week while I was out of town on business. I called another place in San Mateo, they only work on european cars, so I asked for a recommendation, they sent me to Noel L. Miller. I have a PT Cruiser, so not the most reliable cars, and mine's about 7-8 years old. I knew it needed a tune-up, likely some brakes replaced, and I had smelled burning oil. With not much more information than that, Steven took great care of me! We had some complications involving timing, ordering parts, etc. and he was so polite and accomodating, and truly understood the HUGE benefit of great client service. Their prices (from what I understand of them) seem to be very reasonable, and I've been pleasantly surprised with the extra little touches! I always hold my breath when working with a new mechanic - I know so little about cars/engines/etc. that I HATE having to find a new one to trust. The first few vehicles had lots of miles and with their great service, I had several vehicles last over 200,000 miles. And now with my new Toyota Tundra, with only 16,000 miles, I still take it here for the routine services. The best part of bringing your vehicles here is that they aren't going to push you to do work that is not needed. I brought my '29 Mercedes Roadster (Fiberglass kit car on a '78 Ford Pinto chassis with the Ford 3200 engine - a favorite of flat track racers) as it was just refusing to start. I had pulled my plugs cleaned and regapped them, cleaned my points and rotor in my distributor cap, Installed a new air filter and fuel filter, fuel pump was operational etc. But got stumped. I brought it down to Steve and picked it up the next day and now every time I stick the key in the ignition, it fires up ready to go. We've taken our various vehicles to this garage for years and been delighted. Steve, the owner, is an honest and serious fellow. He seems to take pride in the mechanics doing a good job. We used to be routinely 'taken to the cleaners' by having the cars serviced by local auto dealerships. We'd routinely get a call mid-day from the service technician saying "We found something else that needs fixing on your car..." and then paying an extra few hundred bucks. We once took the minivan in having had trouble with the transmission. Steve called to say "Listen, it's still under warranty, so you can have the dealer put in a new one for free. I called them and made an appointment for you tomorrow." Imagine that! On my last servicing, the vehicle needed new shock absorbers and tires, amongst other things. I picked up the wagon and was told "It will need such-and-such next time we service it...I didn't want you to have to pay so much all at once..." If you can find a reliable mechanic, you're lucky.
