Noemi is both a hotel and restaurant just outside Piazza San Marco. We were looking for a place to celebrate my aunt's birthday so my cousins made a reservation for 18 at Restaurant Noemi. Now, reservations for 18 in Venice's small restaurants and cafes is quite difficult, but they made it work! They lined us up in one long table and although it was cramped, the ambiance was just perfect. My impression of service in Venice was pretty abysmal until we experienced dinner here. The waiters were so friendly and tried their best to stay on top of not only our party of 18 but another party of 18, as well. The food came out pretty promptly (minus one snafu with forgetting a squid ink pasta dish) and it looked like the kitchen was working overtime. We had one main waiter but all the waiters and bussers worked together to make sure orders were taken, wine glasses were filled, and everyone was entertained. The other party of 18 was celebrating a wedding anniversary to which the staff made a tiramisu cake (brought out in a baking pan) and sang happy birthday in Italian (close enough!) Some time after, the waiters also came to sing happy birthday to our celebrant with the help of my dad who learned and stole the show singing happy birthday in Italian at the top of his lungs. The food was pretty good, we got a raw seafood appetizer. For a main course, I got ravioli with truffle and it was pretty good but I may be biased because I'm a sucker for anything with mushroom and truffle. I would definitely recommend this spot for any and all celebrations and the exceptional service. Stop by for quick dinner after long walk. Inside have so many table but very empty. We order ink spaghetti, clam spaghetti and calamari. Taste is just average, nothing special. Won't put in my list to come back. Service is very friendly by the way. 3 star. read more

This was some of the best Italian food I had while there. I had the shrimp scampi in a red sauce (didn't know the head was going to still be on, but I easily got over it), my friend had the chicken fettuccine. We both loved our dish. The restaurant is very elegant looking with the nice blue table cloths. I wasn't so pleased with the dishes, however. The pasta with scallops was lacking the scallops. I was expecting full size scallops, but only got sliced pieces. The pesto tasted a bit on the bland side and didn't excite me much. The cuttlefish pasta with black ink was a bit on the dry side and also lacked the cuttlefish. This restaurant wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great in comparison to some of the neighboring restaurants. The presentation of the dishes looked nice and were pleasing to the eye. They also played the same elevator song over, and over, and over again. I think I memorized the melody. read more

As I finished dinner one night and was making my way back to my hotel I say the menu pictures for this place and decided I would dine there the following night. The greeter was happy to hear and gave me a card that pretty much lays out how to get back to the restaurant. The next night I show up and he remembered me and greeted me very excitedly. I chose to sit inside as the street is a bit narrow and would like to enjoy dinner without ppl constantly walking by. The food was amazing as well as the set up. You can't go wrong with some bread, oil, and vinaigrette. The mussels and clams was delicious and the lamp chops and veggies were as well. On a recent trip to Venice, Diane and I had a great dinner here. While consciously looking for a suitable place to dine, after weaving our way from St. Mark's Square through narrow, wall-hugging streets rendered slippery from drizzle, as in a labyrinth, suddenly we were face to face with this well-lit establishment. The place looked good from the outside; black-apron clad waiters were professionally attired; and the exterior window display of various types of pasta beckoned. All indications pointed to a fine dining ristorante rather than a tourist trap. So we went inside to take our chances--and were not disappointed. Taking advantage of a fine culinary experience when I find it, and knowing that it would be a long time before I would return, I ordered and ate heartily. A heaping antipasta plate with assorted meats and Buffalo Mozzarella was a nice beginning, followed by cooked Mussels & Clams sitting in a tasty tomato-specked wine sauce. While bread in the broth was somewhat burned, this did not at all negatively affect the taste of the well-prepared crustaceans or broth. Next up were primo courses of Spaghetti & Sausage for me, and Rigatoni Alfredo for Diane. Veal Scaloppine with Mushrooms bathed in a fine cream sauce was a delicious main. And we finished with Tiramisu and giant scoops of Gelati in four flavors. Service was indeed professional and efficient, and the ambiance intimate and romantic. It was reassuring that locals and travelers alike dined here while we did, and that a classy dish like Branzino was cooked under a salt crust, and then served tableside. I will surely return here on my next visit to Venice. read more

This is the food that people tell stories about and you want to find but never can. The restaurant is bright and clean and beautiful, the service is perfect, BUT THE FOOD!!!! So amazing. We were walking around for a good place for dinner. Fernando was at the front trying to get people to come in and eat. I liked that he was not pushy and just let us look at menu. It was raining so we just decided to eat there. Fernando was funny and proud of where he worked. The staff was excellent and the food was too. I had the gnocchi and my husband had ravioli. It was delicious, so fresh and melted in your mouth. Also the price was great. We highly recommend this place and when we go back to Venice one day we will definitely have a meal there! read more

We were wandering Venice for our 1st dinner. Pro: -We liked the friendly waiter who greeted us at door without being pushy. -My husband is super picky and loves the lasagna. He gives it a 5. -Fun festive music. Not too loud. -cozy and clean -cockle mussel soup was delish -tiramisu- divine. We normally share a dessert. We Ordered 2. Con: The only thing was carpaccio. It was fresh. Good cheese. Carpaccio too chewy for my taste. My husband thought it was fine. Not his dish. addition: Hungry and ate here Again. -baby shrimp with lemon-pretty good. We stumbled upon this place on our first night in Venice. Other places were extremely crowded and this one wasn't which should have given us a clue. The food was not bad. They were pushing the fish on us and we didn't choose it. We saw why they were pushing the fish when the table by us got it. They had an excellent table side preparation of it. The waitress deboned it perfectly. I had lobster with pasta and my husband also had lasagna, we also had shrimp cocktail. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. While the decor is dated, the food and service make up for it. The ravioli de funghi was the best I've had in Italy or abroad. The restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel of the same name. I had an average meal here of linguini with pesto sauce and a side salad. Good but nothing to write home about. On our last night in Venice we wanted to have a nice dinner for our honeymoon. We made a reservation through Trip Advisor and received a 20% off coupon. This place was 4 steps from our hotel, so very convenient, as it was raining out. We were warmly greeted and sat immediately. Our server, Fernando, was very pleasant and friendly - asking where we were from - the effort to get to know us was nice. We did not feel rushed or shuffled through. My husband and i both started our with a salad. They brought out bread as well. We ordered half a liter of house red (which was about 4 glasses), and it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't our favorite either. None the less, we still enjoyed it. I ordered the filet mignon and my husband ordered the sirloin, both accompanied by grilled bell peppers. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly. We were offered a limoncello shot as we were brought our bill, it was a nice ending to our evening. Overall this was a great experience! read more

The people could not care for you. My wife and I went here for lunch today. We were looking forward to the seafood pasta. We ordered food and a bottle of wine, which was very good. Suddenly, a server was in too much of a rush going by our table and dropped a bowl of Parmesan on our table which shattered, spilling Parmesan all over me and glass shards across the table. One hit my wife on the cheek about one inch below her eye. The staff was only concerned about cleaning up the mess. About a minute later my wife told me my elbow was bleeding and I had a blood stain on my silk shirt. Still NO ONE GAVE ANY concern for our injuries. We said we were leaving to go to our hotel which was nearby to see if we had any other injuries since no one seemed to cared. I think they were glad that the rest of their problem left. After having lunch and grabbing some gelato nearby, we went to check out the menu to see what the restuarant had to offer. One of the waiters came outside to greet us. He asked my wife and kids if we wanted to come inside and dine, in which my wife responded that we had already had lunch and that we were only looking at the menu in case we wanted to dine there for dinner. He then proceeded to make a racist comment about Asians. He started off by telling us a few things about the restuarant, like "Our food is REAL Italian food." and proceeded to raise his voice at my wife and children while yelling "Not CHINESE food! Not Chine! (Could not pronounce China at first) China! Not Chinese food!" From this experience, we decided that we would NOT be dining at Restaurant Noemi. Not sure about the food but the attitude we received from the old waiter was TERRIBLE. read more

This was the worst meal I ever head. First the bread was stale. Second, we ordered a bottle of red wine. I tried it and it was HOT. The waiter didn't seem to care either because he kept asking if I wanted it. I had to say no three times because I don not prefer hot red wine. Third, our appetizer was fried calamari. It was not fresh and resembled frozen fish. We ate it because we were hungry but not happy about it. Fourth, our main course, my mother and I both ordered seafood risotto. The fish was over cooked and not fresh. The squid was very hard and chewy. The risotto wasn't cooked properly either, way too hard. And the taste was absolutely atrocious. After trying a couple small bites I refused to eat anymore. I couldn't believe how bad the food was. Not only that the waiter and other wait staff continued to give us attitude because we did not like our food. Our waiter saw that we didn't want to eat out meal and didn't even ask why. Walking out of the restaurant another waiter told us good bye and good luck with a sarcastic tone. It was very disappointing for our first night in Venice. read more

Good service, not so great food. This restaurant is appealing because they are very English and Spanish friendly and very helpful. The ambiance is cute but not the nicest, while the food was pretty disappointing. It wasn't bad by any measure but I'd expect there is much better more authentic Italian food places in Venice. I wouldn't come back here unfortunately. read more
