There is still constant food and services. Great place to grab a chopped sirloin steak with onions and gravy! Moist patty cooked to my order. I had a baked potato and broccoli for my sides. The baked potato was good, not over cooked and the steamed broccoli with a touch of butter, not over cooked, still had color! We had croutons and cheese, a simple appetizer. I originally tried Nolan's after my wife and I donated blood at the Coastal Bend Blood Center. They gave us a coupon for a free Po' Boy, and that first visit turned Nolan's into a regular stop for us. I visited this mini-chain restaurant on a recent work trip since I was with my colleague who is picky and only eats American food and it was near our hotel. They have 3 locations in the Corpus area, but this location has the highest yelp reviews. We visited on a weeknight just before closing and they were still pretty busy. The setup is a little different because you order at the counter, but they bring your food and even come to check on you occasionally. I ordered the large cfs since that's one of the dishes they're famous for. The other is their Famous PoBoy sandwich. However neither myself nor my colleague ordered one. The cfs comes with 2 sides and a roll. I chose loaded baked potato and broccoli. They say the steak cutlets are 6oz each, and I removed plenty of breading and still found plenty of meat. The cutlets of cube steak are fairly thick. I enjoyed the cfs; however, I thought the broccoli and baked potato were just average. The dinner roll was pretty basic too and I just ate a couple bites of it. My colleague ordered the catfish and seemed to like his meal. He added a peach cobbler which was served cold and thought it was just okay. He ended up ordering a 2nd peach cobbler at another restaurant in San Antonio the following day which he liked better. It was definitely clean-which is a great thing! The food was amazing! All that we ordered was good! Sausage and brisket-sausage were good, not salty, and the brisket was soft which is a plus! Green bean-not salty and just perfect! Mash potatoes- Bread- soft and good(my kids loved it) Cole Slaw- was good, not too much mayo which is amazing, and the seasoning was just perfect! Chicken Tenders- definitely tender-my son was enjoying it and my daughters said it was not chewy like others that they tried. I ordered the sandwich with their namesake and it reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents were broke so we would eat canned ham between 2 slices of bread with some cheap cheese. Nostalgic.... I stay away from pretty much everything except the ground sirloin w/gravy which is soooo good and very well seasoned. Chicken fried steak can sometimes be over cooked and is usually over battered, but that is really common for chicken fried steak in this area. The soup option is almost always cream of potato or cream of turkey. Service is hit or miss with friendliness. I coworker and I stopped here for lunch while passing through town. You have to order at the counter, that you give them your name and they will bring you your food once it's ready. I ordered a half of their famous sub which was served warm and came with a variety of meats and cheeses, along with a side of fried okra. My coworker ordered the shrimp Po boy along with the same side of fried okra. The sandwiches were quite good and the food came pretty quickly. The staff was very friendly also. My sub came with no lettuce or frills, but I was quickly handed a plate when asked, at no extra charge. Tried this place for the first time today while driving though Corpus Christi. The service was great and the food was Amazing. Had the "Triple Seafood Plate". The fried oysters were really good and had a ton of flavor, the fried shrimp was huge and tasted amazing, the fish was cooked perfectly and was for sure one of the best fried fish I've ever had. The green and the Hush Puppies were great too. Ended up buying some PO Boys to go too. They looked great and I can't wait to try them tonight. Update: We decided to give Nolan's another try since my daughter was in town and she was craving oysters. This time, they didn't disappoint at all. Everything was above and beyond expectations. I ordered the oyster poorboy again and it was stuffed with fried oysters. My husband got the chicken fried steak and he was very happy with everything on the plate. Daughter got her oyster dinner and was smiling the whole time. Everything tasted fresh, service was prompt and polite, and the food was amazing. Even the other customers were all smiling and polite to each other. We had a nice conversation with a neighboring table. All in all, Nolan's deserves 5 stars.
