    Slushy and tap beer

After many years patrioning Nomad's, it was finally time to give one of their boozy-slushies a try! We were recently out on their beautiful back patio during a sunny afternoon, and it just sounded good. Let me preface, vodka and redbull are normally *not* my thing but it honestly made for a pretty darn good slushie I have to say. Drink with caution: brain freeze does happen! Certainly didn't need more than one (reached my sugar high), so we switched to the cold draft beer afterwards. I thought the bar staff was real friendly, and the atmosphere is always great here. Summery, beachy, tiki vibes. What's not to like?

Food didn't have any. Service- excellent!!!!! Ambiance nice. Has a patio. Niko is the magic man at the 2nd bar. Visiting from California. Thank you Niko for the excellent service. And making our vacation magic.

    The bouncer in question

Great bar. Love the slushees. However the new bouncer is the worst bouncer in the world and needs to be not a bouncer....He tries to deny me and all my 25 year old friends every weekend despite coming here weekly for years he is actually so bad at his job please do something I'm begging ‍‍‍

This is THE place to catch all the big soccer (football) games in Milwaukee. Located on the already buzzy Brady St, Nomad has a colorful and huge outdoor patio with a bar and tons of seating. They have lots of TVs and play multiple games at a time so you can be sure if you go you can watch your squad in action (even if they are playing at 6am!). No matter the weather, they have heaters under the bar to keep you fairly warm. They also have part of the street directly off Brady blocked off to add additional seating and during big events (World Cup, Euros etc) they put up a giant video board and bring in food vendors. Its quite a scene! The opened Nomad Coffee Bar next door to accommodate all those early soccer matches. They have boozy drinks, smoothies and a full breakfast and lunch menu! Come with your favorite soccer jersey and get ready to have a great time hanging out at this wonderful East side pub!

My husband and I stopped in here for a few drinks while in town. The bartender was super fun and social and the drinks were decent. The decor around the place is definitely cool. It is an outside location and even though it was a bit cold out, the heaters keep you nice and toasty. I enjoyed my time here and would definitely return.

Consistently busy over the years and for good reason. I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed with the service or the food. I love that the food I've ordered here has always exceeded my expectations with the seasonings and quality of ingredients used. Reasonably priced too! We quite literally came here straight from the airport. To make matters worse, we had not eaten anything substantial all day and had actually looked this restaurant up weeks before our trip while researching places to eat the infamous Wisconsin fish fry, so we were really looking forward to the experience. The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that. We also had to send back two drink glasses because they were dirty one still had lipstick on it, and another had food stuck to the inside of the glass. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Between the unprofessional treatment, lackluster service, and cleanliness issues, I would not recommend stopping here. There are plenty of other restaurants worth trying instead.

It is a ln old school, classic vibe. I enjoyed all the sports decor and memorabilia on the walls. Right off the bat, one of the things that stood out to me was how incredibly affordable this place was! Looking at the prices, I was surprised that you could get a burger here for around twelve bucks including fries. That's like fast food prices. Most restaurants charge way more than that and don't include fries, so this place is an amazing bargain! We got their cheese balls, which were cheese curds. These were not bad. I do prefer a more beer battered curd, but I didn't mind these. I also got a bacon cheeseburger called The Loser. In reality, it tastes like a winner. The bread bun is amazing, so soft and fresh. The burger is juicy and flavorful. It's also not too crazy big where all the toppings fall apart. The fries were also crispy and tasty. Our server was also very kind and attentive. She gave us sugar cookies at the end of our meal, which was a nice treat. Overall, I enjoyed coming here. I would come here again to catch a game and enjoy a drink and some bites. You get a decent burger that is also a good bang for your buck.

Von Trier is an institution -- not the bad kind, like a "mental institution", or an "Ale Asylum" (I…read morelove that name!); the very good kind, as in a cultural and community treasure. I'm old enough to remember the place when it was Rieder's. Already a warm and special place, with a jukebox filled with classical music, it had a groovy mid century modern decor and was a hangout for MSO musicians after concerts. It acquired its lavish, present-day German decor when it was sold to Karl Lotharius. I don't recall how much longer, after that, the jukebox survived, but the astounding decor remains. Alas, there's a reason for my one star (which, I hope and assume, the present owners will notice) . . . and it has to do with a certain scourge -- the maddening omnipresence of which is second only to that of A.I. I refer to TV screens. There have been several ownership changes since Lotharius departed this mortal coil, and I honestly don't know at what point in time it was decided to tarnish the decor with the addition of several TVs. (I was so enraged by the sight of them, when I first entered the front door after a long time away, that I didn't bother to look at the back room; consequently, I have no idea whether the scourge has ruined that room as well.) Clearly, in jumping on the "give the people what they want" bandwagon, the owners (current and/or recent) believe that there's no such thing as too many sports bars (or at least, bars that can be compelled to serve that function at least some of the time). Gosh, I would think that people who are so into SPORTS, when coming upon a bar lacking screens, would have sufficient fitness, energy and motivation to walk a block or two extra, if necessary, to find and enter one of the many other establishments equipped to satisfy their jones for that pathetic fix. But then again, I guess it's that fundamental laziness that makes them mere spectators. There's only one thing worse than a proprietor so lacking in imagination, individuality, courage and self-respect that, when choosing a design for their establishment, they cave to the TV trend. It's a proprietor who ruins an EXISTING treasure by plunking multiple TV screens into the middle of it all. Like turds in a punch bowl. It's great to "get away from it all" for a while, isn't it, for a nice meal, drinks and conversation? The thing is, if I want a TV screen, I can see one at home. (But I don't want to. Not always, anyway. To judge from what TV, movies and commercials show us, every home now has the same standard, ugly, huge plastic rectangle (the TV screen) dominating its designated room(s), out in the open. As for me, I require mine to live inside a closed cabinet. It only comes out when I say that it can.) And, rather than seeing constant reminders that our world has all but become the kind of dystopia in which there's no escaping that intrusive electronic barrage, I could instead just stay at home and watch any of the many sci-fi movies on that theme (a theme that used to be merely a warning. Now, such films more resemble documentaries.) Shame.
