I haven't had dinner here in several years, and today was my first time in for brunch. I ordered the Irish Breakfast with eggs over easy (although they were cooked over medium), and Bubble & Squeak as my potato choice, which is fried mashed potatoes with cabbage and bacon, yet I didn't see or taste cabbage or bacon inside. The other components of the dish included fried bangers (sausages), black & white pudding (blood sausage & pork), baked beans, sauteed mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, bacon, and another small puck of sausage, as well as brown bread and butter. It was a great value with some items I liked and some I didn't due to personal preference, not because anything wasn't prepared well, as it all appeared to be cooked properly. My girlfriend ordered the Celtic Grilled Cheese with bacon, arugula, aged white cheddar, aioli, grilled tomatoes on toasted sourdough. Her sandwich looked amazing, and I regret not asking for a bite. That may be a future order for me. She loved it! I also ordered the County Clare Bloody Mary, which is made with their own seasoning blend and served with a chaser of Harp beer. They asked me how spicy I wanted it, and I said medium, which I think they nailed. This was one of the best Bloodies I've had in town! Overall, a nice brunch experience with good service and a great ambience. I do want to return to try more brunch items. read more

Had a really good experience at County Clare! I stopped in during Irish Fest, so it was definitely busy, but thankfully not *too* busy. And of course, being at an Irish pub, I had to have a Guinness. The burger and fries were good, nothing that completely blew me away, but definitely a solid meal. **The orange crème brûlée, though... WOW.** I've never had an orange crème brûlée before, and it was absolutely amazing! That alone was a highlight of the visit. Took the Hop over to the County Clare pub on Friday after the Catalono Square beer garden got too cold...on May 1. Seriously, we had snow! First - I enjoyed the Hop ride from the Third Ward. Second - I enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality at the County Clare Pub! The pints of Guinness and Smithwicks were good. The wife had a Reuben and I had the Shepherds pie. Both were really good. Stopped at County Clare after work on St. Patrick's Day. They had a tent set up in the back with a bar and live music. $5 cover charge that was being donated to a charity. After one drink we headed inside for some Ruben rolls. They were good and served with a side of horseradish that I really enjoyed. My friend wanted thousand island and asked for a side, but she was told they are not doing sides today. Overall, it was busy, but not obnoxiously busy. When I left around 7pm there was a pretty long line of people waiting to get in. read more

This place is a date night fave for my boyfriend and me. We have never eaten dinner here, but have enjoyed many a pint! It is a warm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Our favorite place to settle in is the nook across to the spot where the musicians usually are. Service is friendly and so are the patrons! I haven't been here in years but was glad to drop back in. The space is cozy with lots of sayings and paintings on the walls, which most are dark green and warm. There are plenty of spots at the bar to enjoy a beverage, including Guinness, but lots of tables for dining as well. I had to grab the corned beef at a place like this of course. It was a little dry in my mind, and the potatoes were a little dry as well. But the flavor of the corned beef was great, and the cabbage was colorful. County Claire reset my expectations of Irish food. Having had admittedly mid-level experiences with the food in my life, I was pleasantly blown away by their fare. I got the Shepherd's Pie with lamb, the Root Soup, and some Bread Pudding. $35 all told, but it was enough for 2 meals. The Shepherd's Pie (the one with lamb; the other one has shredded beef) was superb, and very filling. The Root Soup comes with soup crackers and was a pleasing orange color. The Bread Pudding came with some kind of sauce (anglaise?) and was absolutely lethal. I had to stop myself from eating it all in one sitting. Great neighborhood pub to have on the corner. read more

I hadn't been to County Clare in lat least two decades when a friend and I decided to stop by for brunch. We had fond memories of visits of years past and had discussed going before, but someone hadn't made it over there. We lucked into a close parking spot on a Sunday early afternoon and were seated immediately by the fireplace in the snug area. Our waitress came over immediately and asked for drink orders, but we hadn't had time to even look at the menu yet. I had been in the mood for a Bloody Mary, but theirs are made with Clamato so I pivoted to a mimosa, which was basic but good. My friend asked what type of teas they had to which the server said pretty much everything - no, as it turns out they had two types. An inauspicious start. to out experience, but we foraged on. My friend ordered the root vegetable soup and house salad. She picked quite a lot of wilted, less than fresh lettuce out of the salad and found the soup to be good, but overly sweet. I did better with my choice of a vegetarian frittata with potato fritters, which was tasty, but not extraordinary. Service continued to be weirdly paced and a little uneven. I don't think the interior has changed, possibly ever. This was a nostalgic visit but now that we've done it, I won't need to go back. County Clare seems dated, rather than classic these days and there's too much out there in Milwaukee that's truly great. read more

Went for a Rueben sandwich. Very Disappointed! The sandwich was wet and soggy on the bottom side. The sauerkraut should have been on top of cheese! Also, asked for baby red potatoes. My friends and I tried County Clare last week and loved it. I got the Chocolate Guinness, which was a Guinness with a shot of chocolate vodka. For food, we started with the Colcannon poppers--mashed potatoes, white cheddar, cabbage, and onions in the perfect bite. They were super crispy on the outside and came with the most delicious Worcestershire gravy. We also got a side of mashed potatoes and poutine, which wasn't our favorite but was still good. The real stars of the show? The Reuben rolls and the Reuben sandwich. So good. Our server was incredibly kind, making sure we had extra napkins and horseradish sauce since we couldn't get enough of it! For the end of the meal, we had an espresso-inspired crème brûlée, which was the perfect finale. The whole place was so cute, with vintage wallpaper and plenty of Guinness memorabilia. Stayed for one night. No reason for the uncleanliness. All you need is a simple dust rag. The hand sanitizer in the elevator had hand prints all over it. Filthy. The whirlpool tub needed to be bleached. The sink was stained. Just Simple quick fixes. Nobody at the desk during the night. The breakfast bar was not well supplied ie missing cream. Not good. We were in the mood for Irish food and while we have our favorite Irish spot, decided to try something different. Enter, County Clare Irish Pub. This is a lovely Irish pub and though casual, has a touch of charm that sets it apart from other spots in the area. I started the evening with a barrel aged negroni, which was spot on perfect. Their cocktail menu is definitely more robust than I expected and was thrilled their was a negroni on the menu. For my dinner, I got the grilled salmon with asparagus and whipped potatoes. In true Irish fashion the potatoes were both flavorful and plentiful. The asparagus was perfectly sauteed and the salmon was grilled to perfection and served with a dill cream sauce. The blackened salmon (which I didn't order) comes with asparagus and the grilled salmon comes with spinach. I asked if I could order the grilled salmon but get the asparagus and they kindly obliged. The service was kind and attentive and the prices were reasonable. Get to it! read more

This was the new restaurant of the week and a longtime bookmark that's hard for me to get to because the east side and downtown parking is horrible and yes driving up and down all the surrounding streets I finally found a parking spot. This is actually an Irish inn and restaurant with 29 rooms. I would sit at the bar for brunch and start with a Bloody Mary spicy which comes with a huge pickle spear, full meat stick, full cheese stick, two olives and a chaser. The spicy Bloody Mary was pretty good and the garnish is very filling alone. The decor is what you would expect an Irish pub to look like with a huge nice bar, large open dining room with two walls of windows that have stain glass on top, just a nice space. The bartender was was very friendly and I asked what he suggested from the brunch menu and he said the biscuits and gravy so that's what I ordered. The sausage gravy was good but a little disappointing because it didn't have very much sausage that was thin link slices. The biscuits were perfect and tasty. The sunny side up eggs were perfect. My potato choice was the mashed with cabbage and bacon that was really good. read more

I was there during the afternoon on a weekend because I found it outside of downtown Milwaukee and wanted a nice meal. I was able to sit outside and enjoyed people watching. The overall restaurant is clean and quite spacious. There is plenty of seating outside on the sidewalk, but you might be joined by a couple interesting characters that are roaming around the area. I ordered a delicious Rueben Sandwich with an Arnold Palmer (I had to drive back to Chicago). The fries were also delicious. The service was good, a bit laid back. As an overall stop that was unknown until I used Yelp! for help, I am glad I came here and enjoyed a delicious rueben. read more

I looked online for the greatest pint of Guinness in Milwaukee and these guys didn't disappoint. I watched them start every pour by checking and then rinsing the glass. Their method differed from mine, but the end results produced really great pints. I'm a Guinness snob and that was my initial purpose for going there. I found myself engaged with other patrons sitting at the bar - which is exactly what I'm looking for in a proper Irish pub. There were a couple TV's playing the Daytona 500, but it was not at all intrusive. The place was setup for conversations with strangers, or a quiet pint, you could easily decide for yourself. After several pints and conversation, I found myself looking for a bite. Scott?, the bartender was great. He kept the pints coming and when I started looking for food I told him the 3 things I was thinking, he then told me his top 3 which differed from my thoughts. I went with the pot roast which was one of his suggestions. It was amazing. I've not eaten pot roast a million times, but I can say this was absolutely the best I've had. This review is based in general and more specifically for their St. Patty's Day celebration. I haven't been to Ireland, but it looks what I'd think an Irish pub would be. There is a surprising amount of space, but then again they are a restaurant as well. I like how there's bunch booth chair combination tables in the counter as well as ones in the more main area and next to the windows. There's a couple standing spots by the bar but not a ton of space to allow others in to order as a result. For St. Patty's day they had a $5 entrance fee that went to the Children of Wisconsin (hospital etc.). Probably as a result it was cash only, which is tricky. The test was heated,l and sound system was equal volume and equilibrium through the whole tent. read more

I'm actually surprised I haven't done a review of this place before. We usually go here for brunch, although all meals are amazing. We usually Have the corned beef hash and sit in the main dining room however, today we mixed it up. We sat at the bar and the husband had the corned beef benedict with a paprika hollindaise while I had the daily special which was a bacon, tomato, and arugula benedict with a garlic hollindaise. Holy moly! We also had PLENTY of Guinness and a Bloody Moira (vodka, whiskey, and a little Guinness). Definitely worth the try. The service was stellar as always and the bartender was amazing and friendly. We love this place and would go here everyday if we could. :). read more

This is my favorite bar in Milwaukee. The bartenders are phenomenal and the food is great. It really feels like you're in a pub in Ireland. So happy we have this hidden gem. I had been going to trivia night almost every week for 3 years until they paused it due to covid. I'm so glad it's finally back! They also have great live music from musicians like Barry Dodd and Frogwater--be sure to check them out. It's always a good time! I finally stayed in the hotel and was very happy with the accommodations and the made-to-order breakfast omelets. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! We had 6pm reservations on a Friday night--we're staying at the County Clare Inn--which seemed like the perfect time; it was getting busy when we left around 7:45/8ish. Andrea was our FANTASTIC waitress; she was lovely; attentive and helpful; constantly refilling our water and checking in on how our food/drinks and were. We started with the Colcannon Poppers (mashed potatoes, white cheddar, cabbage, and onions rolled in panko breadcrumbs then fried and served with Worcestershire gravy). DELICIOUS! Holy cats!!! My husband and I both agreed we could have eaten a plate of those for dinner! Next up: Cottage Pie for me, County Clare Fish Fry for my husband--again everything was DELICIOUS!! The cottage pie filling is shredded beef (maybe pot roast cuts?); meat was moist and perfectly cooked, veggies included carrots and peas, all buried under a fluffy bed of mashed potatoes. The fish fry is fresh cod; the breading is light and crisp, the fish perfectly cooked. The house chips were perfectly cut and cooked to crisp perfection. We finished with the carrot cake and I REGRET NOTHING! Loved the walnut and cream cheese frosting! All of this amazing food and delicious drinks--a chocolate Guinness (Guinness w chocolate vodka) and Bushmills Whisky--as well as our excellent service and the fun atmosphere made our visit amazing. It has been years since we've enjoyed County Clare, but we suddenly had a hankering for the quaint pub vibes and yummy food you can find here. Not to our surprise, the place was pretty empty on this Tuesday night, but that made social distancing all the more easy! The four of us were sat tucked away at the corner table near the crackling fire place, and received paper menus to browse. County Clare serves all Irish fare, including things like Shepherd's Pie, Corn Beef & Cabbage, and the classic Fish Fry. They also have a nice size drinks menu with plenty of draught and cocktail options. My girlfriend and I went for the Milwaukee Mule, which was your typical mule made up of vodka, ginger beer, and lime. But let me tell ya, these cocktails were massive! No complaints. For dinner I ordered the Turkey Breast Sandwich. The in-house turkey was perfectly roasted, and not too dry. It's toppings, provolone, lettuce and tomato, all complimented the meat well. The bread was delicious too, nicely toasted. It was my kind of sammy. Oh and a side of tatter tots? Heck yes, count me in always! My friends all had great things to say about their meals. Five star food, but not exactly five star service, which was the bummer. We all noted that our server made us feel quite rushed... I'd imagine her shift was ending soon.
