    Street corn appetizer-SO good!!

Stopped in on a whim with my husband. Drinks and food were both amazing! Bartender and staff, super helpful, friendly, on point!! Margaritas were so refreshing, really good and they have many tequilas to choose from. Food was delicious, so good! Will definitely be back.

Nice little spot with modern decor. Very new and clean. No televisions, I get it and it works here. Went for happy hour with my daughter & boyfriend and drinks were flowing. Happy hour menu has choices. I'd recommend tacos of any variety and get the chicharrones, best I've had. Will have to go back for dinner with the wife one day. Food quality was solid and drinks were on point. Field goal is good!

Nomada is the newest addition to the Skopos restaurant group. I love all of their other establishments and looked forward to checking out Nomada, particularly during the holiday season. During the holidays, nearly every one of Skopos' restaurants gets decked out in holiday decorations and offers a festive menu. Nomada had really nice decor, and their menu had a festive flair to the Mexican offerings. For my drink, I had the Ponche Navideno. I'm not a tequila lover by any means, but I became a fan after having this drink! The tropical ingredients like hibiscus and soursop blended perfectly with the El Jimador and made me forget that it was a tequila drink. As a starter, I had chips and ancho salsa, which was very flavorful and not too spicy. I had the birria tacos for my entree. They were a favorable portion and tasted excellent. The short rib was tender, and the consommé wasn't greasy at all. My mate really enjoyed the chicken quesadilla, which had a very addictive chipotle mayo. Although I was full, I still managed to save room for dessert. Since I saw so many churros being ordered around me, I ordered some too. They were delectable and the chocolate and dulce de leche sauces that they were served with were the perfect complement. Our server, Jess, was attentive and provided great suggestions throughout the meal. All in all, I had a fantastic meal and it was great to have another excellent experience at a Skopos restaurant.

Pleasantly surprised! We stopped by for brunch on a Saturday with our kids and stepped into a cute little tropical Christmas vibe. Menu is great, prices are average and food is yum. They also offer some great cocktails and non alcoholic drinks. Ceviche (3/5) for me it was a bit too much lime but everything in it was great just too much for me personally Chicarron (5/5) great flavor cut up in small pieces which made sharing much easier and not greasy at all Huevos rancheros (5/5) solid flavor texture variety and all the ingredients played well together Dish tacos (5/5) also great execution, I'm often left with a bit overcooked fish especially if it's not fried but this was flavorful and delicate cooked perfectly! Horchata (5/5) bonus for using oat milk for my dairy allergic daughter! Kids had chicken quesadilla and the chicken tacos both were great Good value, ample portions and would totally go back for drinks and apps. Parking is street and meter, and staff was super friendly and hospitable.

Came for their Christmas Pop Up and it was NOICE! The Abuelitas Champurrado has ya boy feeling a little naughty if ya feel me. Fundido helped absorb some of the tequila. Some. The vibe was immaculate, and it was just cool to go somewhere that wasn't a Miracle or Sippin' Santa during the Christmas holidays. Happy hour is always nice too.

Operated by Skopos Hospitality, Nomada is a modern take on Mexican cuisine and the first of its kind in the Skopos group. They also operate the very popular Cowan's and Barrow House so I was excited to try out Nomada! We started with the May drink specials along with the Esquites app which is basically a Mexican street corn. It was very flavorful and had hints of chicharron in it. We also ordered the shrimp @ Al pastor tacos. The tacos were two for $12 which seemed to be well-priced to me. Tres Leches cake for dessert was a must! I can't tell you how good it was. I'll definitely be back! Nomada is located in a small space off Bloomfield Ave in Verona. They offer a small parking lot in the back.

4 stars for opening night kinks but 5 stars for food! Came on opening night with my husband. I made reservations ahead of time and we were seated on time. The staff was very kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed the colorful vibe and decor. The restaurant was clean and trendy. The seating was nice and spacious. We ordered chips and salsa, steak burrito, carnitas tacos, tostones, and tres leches. The food was delicious and definitely 5 stars. Everything was served warm and super flavorful. Probably the best salsa we've had in a while. My husband loved the burrito and the carnitas were super juicy. The one issue was that we were brought the trio instead of just the chips and salsa and it was a pretty big price difference. It still tasted great but it seemed that all the tables around us were receiving the wrong items. One table was seated right after us and still had not received their entrees by the time we finished dessert and left. Overall the food was worth it and I'd come back to try more!

Nomada has such a warm vibe, came here recently for the friends and family soft opening and it was such a fantastic evening. When you enter the cocktail bar greats you, with its hypnotic neon lights and soft glow; only to be enhanced by the top shelf liquor selection. Cocktails were fantastic, Sonrisa was hands down my favorite; if spirits aren't your jam they do serve beer too! Our server Jeff was a gem, funny, swift and perfect timing with his check-ins. Very hard to pick a favorite for appetizers and dinner, we had ceviche which was topped off with takkis, fried pork belly and esquites; all of it was solid, ceviche may be to just because of the takkis! Birria tacos were brilliant, I had a bite of my wife's shrimp, so much flavor with the smoke and lime, really delicious bite. Churro bites and caramel sauce was the better dessert in my opinion. Rice pudding was great in flavors but the rice itself was a wee bit undercooked. Overall great experience and look forward to visiting again!

Great spot for drinks! The food is also fine but I will come back for happy hour, the bar and great bartenders who craft a wonderful drink'

I came here for lunch with two friends. There is a small parking lot in the back but there weren't any spots available since there were only about 5. I was able to find parking on a side street. The decor inside is really cute. The waitress was nice and they did not rush us, which was appreciated because we hadn't seen each other in a long time and wanted to catch up. We ordered the chips and guacamole which were good, The chips were nice and hot. For my entree, I had the biarra tacos which came as 3. They were very good. Great little Mexican spot with reasonable prices and not too big portions, so it was a great lunch spot!

Nice dining room, friendly service. Our lunch was okay but nothing special. Our waiter recommended Birria tacos. They tasted okay but were very greasy. You were not allowed to get a variety only one choice for protein for three tacos. The burrito was average and had too much lettuce inside. Portions very small. The entrées did not come with beans or rice. Meal left us still hungry.

Grabbed takeout here recently but look forward to trying the spot out in person. I got the shrimp burrito bowl ($16) and it was pretty good with a nice portion of shrimp, rice, and toppings. My husband got the burrito and was pleased. The menu is focused on tacos so will definitely try that next time.

This restaurant has been opened for a few months and I have been wanting try it. Its menu is limited like its sister restaurants. That doesn't take away from the experience though. The drink were strong and flavorful. The queso fundido was a large serving, we had enough to bring home. The Chicharon was crunchy but not too much that it is hard to chew. My birria tacos were delicious and my husband said the shrimp tacos were good as well. Our server gave suggestions and came to check on us often. The decor matched the theme. It was a great night.

Food was fine, but too pricey for the quality. Service was good and I enjoyed the ambiance.

Flavor was good but why was it not hot, not even warm! The guacamole tasted good and fresh. The tortilla chips were my fav kind so happy about that. I also got a burrito and again, disappointed. At least it was hot but like 75% rice, 25% protein. No cheese, no crema and no salsa like the menu says and I think there was a teaspoon of pico de gallo in there too. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they don't serve you salsa on the side or on the table, this was crazy. Positives, the tortilla was good and so was the rice, both seemed homemade. But come on - this totally ruined my first experience.

This was a pleasant stop. My top-tier chum and I came by this past Saturday around noon for some…read moremuch needed sustenance during the Montclair Town-wide Yard Sale (which I honestly thought was terrible - if you don't have kids, you were not finding much beyond moldy pogo sticks and tattered luggage sets. Dark times.). Apparently there was also a sidewalk sale going on in Upper Montclair so it was definitely on the crowded side when we wandered over but we were still able to secure parking about a block away. Deliciously uneventful. Despite the congestion in the surrounding area, Playa Taqueria wasn't too busy - there were a few people seated outside, but otherwise we were able to walk right up to the counter and order. My favorite part of this experience by far was that Playa let you kind of mix and match/build your own. I'm very picky when it comes to Mexican because I don't like crunchy shizzle in my food (which is kind of a calling card of the genre) so a lot of times I'm out once pico de gallo or whatever automatically gets involved. Despite several items not being to my liking in the official quesadilla description, I was able to pivot and order a very basic version of it, with just chicken, cheese and a guac add-on. (After making an enormous deal of ordering off menu, the woman behind the counter listened to my order, nodded slowly and said, "...so you want a chicken quesadilla." I may have blown the situation out of proportion.) The quesadilla was very good. It was definitely made to order, so it came out several minutes after my chum's meal (a bowl of nachos or something that was housed quickly). It's not a formal restaurant by any stretch so the disparate arrival times to me aren't a big deal, especially when you're getting a better quality meal being made right then and then. It was a LITTLE too cheesy for me (absolutely dictionary definition nitpick), and it's wild to me that queso is one of the typical ingredients in this dish; I can't even imagine the cheese overload in that scenario. But the chicken was very flavorful and I was pleased that the guac was a legit portion (an item in my experience where you really have to pull teeth to get more than a very small spoonful, even if you're already paying extra for it). The restaurant (at least the front end) was being handled by a handful of young women, all of whom were very nice. The one at the register who dealt with my order specifically deserves top marks for dealing with my high maintenance behavior capably and ably. I also didn't think the price point was too bad - the obvious chain comp for me would be something like a Bubakoo's, which is definitely a step or two below this and really greasy. I think you're getting better food for roughly the same cost, which I'll always take in a heartbeat. I can't recommend the Town-Wide Yard Sale this year, but I do recommend this place.
