One of my favorite sandwhiches of all time. Fresh muzz, roasted red peppers, proscuitto, chicken cutlet, balsamic vinegrette, and pesto. The flavor profile is mildly sweet, savory, a bit salty. THE ABSOLUTE WORST As a chef with 15 years of experience, I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the service at NONNA CLEMENTINA'S during our office holiday lunch. Despite placing a large order, they REFUSED to provide or sell aluminum take-out containers for our staff to take home leftovers, offering nonsensical EXCUSES about styrofoam regulations and the cost of containers. Even after offering to pay, their refusal persisted. This lack of accommodation, especially during the holiday season, was UNACCEPTABLE and showed a glaring disregard for basic customer service. I love the Cheers "everyone knows your name" vibe. Now the bad. Their credit card payment machine has a small note saying any non-cash purchases (regardless of total amount) are subject to a fee. OK. "So if I pay cash, I get the cash price, and don't have to pay the additional fee, right?" "OF COURSE!" I am reassured. Well, cash paid and still charged the additional fee. When I brought it up, with a smile on my face as to be non-confrontational with a place I love, she swore I wasn't charged more. I would check the receipt, but since the beginning of time receipts aren't a thing here unless you ask. So, I do just that. Guess what, I was right. Charged. Damn. Maybe a mistake, right? Nope. Two friends went for lunch and got the same treatment. I have no problems paying more, just tell me. Don't lie about it and try to cover it up. Come on. I was in the area and tried it out again. I see alot of old bad reviews. Staff is friendly, place is clean and very "pretty". Like a fancy Italian deli. Hot and cold foods, desserts, pastries and drinks. Everything looks really good. It's my 2nd time because I actually liked the hot food I got the first time. There are much better options that this in the area and that goes for both then quality of food and service. As others said they are very skimpy on the ingredients relative to the price and the bread is not always as fresh as it should be. On my last visit I was in at 11:30 and they refused to make a breakfast sandwich because it was "after 11:00"! First the restriction on breakfast hours is not posted anywhere and second, they have the ingredients they just didn't want to make it. Hard pass. First, the staff seems to know nothing about Italian food. and don't seem to care. When I asked what type of soup they had I was told "bean." Then they showed me something that resemebled baked beans in broth. This "bean" soup is not on their meny so I'm assuming the staff "improvised." So i go to this place often for lunch and normally it's good and the people are kind.. as of late the food has been ok today was pork chop and normally when they make them they are dry or over cooked due to the heat system they have to keep them warm... The manager when he helps you works fast but doesn't really pay attention to detail on the sandwich like what spread you want mayo or vinaigrette whatever it is he never gets it right so i won't be eating at this place when my co workers ask for food from here I'll just be picking it up i won't order from this place to have to them put the condiments on wrong or leave it without what you didn't ask for... also i get when it's busy no prob but when it's dead and you don't pay attention and write it on a pad and still get it wrong bothers me.. lunch specials are a rip off for what they give you.. good luck here read more

I have catered so many parties over the years and he never disappoints!! My guests always demolish the food and leave asking where it is from. Great fresh food at a fair price! As an owner operated business, Massimo is hands on. Just as any restaurant, you'll love some things more than others. One daughter's fav is the parmesan encrusted eggplant. Can't find it anywhere else. Buy extra for snacking! The chicken parm hero is my son's favorite. And my daughter loves the grilled chicken on soft roll with pesto, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. And the simple chicken cutlets are truly worthy, homemade and fresh! As a lifelong Closter resident, I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years, and to be frank, the happy memories your service and food provided at your old location is the most compelling reason I am leaving you a 4 star review. Since you moved into the new location, I have bought about 20 sandwiches and have been shockingly disappointed almost every time. The issues I've had range from horribly made sandwiches to devastatingly little portions of ingredients. I want to love you guys so much but its hard to when you're disappointed every time. This is not to attack you or your business. Nonna's at its best is arguably the best food business in Closter, and one of the best sandwich shops in the area. When made well, the #18 is a divine experience. There is a reason we visited your shop multiple times per week throughout our school years. Italian place without Italian bread for their sandwiches. I got the chicken cutlet, with fresh mozzarella (I'm still looking for it on the sandwich), and red peppers. The chicken was grisly and nothing I couldn't make at home. The bread ruined the sandwich, not Italian roll, apparently they had run out by 12:00 (good planning). $8 for an 8 inch sub was not worth it. Very impressive, robust Italian deli. Firstly let's start with the service. The owner, as well as the workers, are incredibly friendly and polite. Not only are they professional but authentically compatriotic. Moving towards the food, it's downright damn delicious. They make from scratch all their food, with exception to their meats, from the mozzarella to every appetizer you see there. Absolutely delicious sandwiches. High quality ingredients, elegantly simple, but so damn delicious. Now let's talk about the price. This place is downright economical. If you're on a budget but would still like to eat out, this is the place for you. One reviewer stated that a $7 sandwich was too much but let me tell you something that they offer $5.50 sandwiches, full foot with freshly grilled or fried chicken cutlets, homemade mozzarella cheese (ughhhh so good), marinated fried peppers (think vinegary mmmm) with a delicious balsamic vinegar to finish. ALL FOR $5.50! Subway's got nothing on this! I don't really give out good review very often. I cook a lot and when I go to pay for food I expect quality. After passing this place a thousand times and finally reading Yelp reviews, I went in. This deli is super clean and has a huge selection of sandwiches. I opted for a prosciutto, soppressata, capicola, and mozzarella sandwich on a round roll. While it was being made, I strolled around and see they have a selection of refrigerated ravioli, sauces, and drinks. They also carry some hot foods, ready to go. The gentleman making my sandwich was quick and asked if I wanted balsamic. Of course I do! Anything else would be wrong. I paid for my sandwich and drink (a little over $10). Went home and unwrapped it, excitedly. However, I was disappointed. There was so much balsamic, I tossed the top layer of bread. My disappointment grew when there was only 2 slices of each meat and very little mozzarella. I get more meat on my sandwich from Blimpie. Definitely not worth the price. However, I will say the meats were delicious and good quality. I wasn't crazy about the mozzarella: found it to be salty. Had such high expectations of this place. I will go back though. Sandwiches are good, when they get it right. There is a lady there who works the counter who always gets something wrong in my order. So one time, she didn't write the order down and gave us both turkey and roast beef. We only wanted turkey. She acts like it's our fault when we pointed out that we only wanted turkey. Another time, she twice said the owner wasn't around for delivery. When I went to pick it up, there was a full house working there. Grew up in this town and used to eat this place once in a while. Went there recently and got a couple of heroes. 1st off, the place has a ton of different items and you can get all your italian meats and cheeses here. The prices of the sandwiches heroes aren't ridiculously overpriced, but it's definitely not cheap. The hero bread is really tasty, crusty, and chewy, the way a hero should be. the roast beef was tasty and the italian was excellent. My owner complaint is that there wasn't a huge amount of meat on them. They don't skimp, but I'm used to Enzo's in fort lee where they give you an insane amount of meat (usually). This deli is located almost at the end of the main strip in Closter which makes it difficult to notice! We happened to stop in because the Dunkin Donuts was closed and we needed a quick snack. We shared a meatball sub that was so tasty and moist and extremely fresh. They have a wide selection of deli items, cold cuts, salads, drinks, and a big selection of italian cookies and goodies. They even have an imported italian goods section. There is a small place to eat in if you would like but I am guessing they do a lot of take out business The staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable. I've been going to Nonna's for over a decade and to reminisce I recently went again. The food looked delectable and I was psyched to eat. I got a piece of lasagna and Nonna's salad. As I was eating the salad, I was shocked to find a strand of hair as I got a forkful to eat. What shocked me more was when I asked for a new salad due to the hair, they did not remake the salad but instead took the hair out and gave me back the same salad.
