Hate to say this because I selfishly don't want this place to get packed LOL But I just gotta say this is a Hidden Gem. The Restaurant is excellent but I like the small bar area, Fred might just be the best bar-tender in Bergen County, he's on top of everything. We wanted a Yankee game on and he didn't quit till he found the channel. I don't even get to the food yet, the Italian dishes are perfect, you get warm bread when u sit with a sauce thats amazing. The salads are cut up so u can eat them easily, little thing but means a lot to me . And believe it or not in the bar we had Wings... best wings around!! I'm sorry to reveal this place is not winning the race. Although the appetizer and entree have a less than stellar appearance, the taste was slightly better...but not by a long shot. For approximately $2 per mushroom, the mushroom was small and the bread crumbs were on the soggy side. The entrée looks similar to the inside of a blood orange...between the red/pink brandy sauce and the sun dried tomatoes. To top it all off, static music was playing in the background while I was eating this meal. I ordered Buffalo wings, Chicken Marsala, Pappardelle Funghi, and Chicken fingers & fries for the kids. Everything was well made and the portion sizes were good. The biggest rip off I have experienced in a long time. My wife and I were excited to order from here initially. She ordered the Linguini with clams with white wine sauce. This was advertised as coming with whole and chopped clams. I ordered the Shrimp scampi which was advertised as coming with white wine, garlic sauce and "sprinkled" with bread crumbs. Her Linguini had 4 small whole clams and a tiny sprinkling of minced clams. They obviously don't know that minced is not chopped. Maybe $2.00-$3.00 worth of ingredients. Worst was my scampi with 6, yes 6! shrimp in total. I am in the food business and buy this stuff for a living. Based on the size of the shrimp, maybe $2.00 worth of shrimp. In addition, no wine flavor and no breadcrumbs! Please do not waste your time or your money. What a disgrace! read more

We had our daughter's baptism lunch here and as usual it was amazing! The service here is always superb. I have been coming here since they opened and they have always had an incredible staff. We asked for their prix fixe menu and the food was all delicious. My husband and I love the sangria and once we ordered it everyone followed suit and loved it too. I came here for dinner on a Saturday night with my family. We sat outside which was pretty nice. It's a family place in the neighborhood. We ordered the traditional fried calamari (mild), the seafood salad, and the Domani special pizza (pepperoni, sausage, peppers, mushrooms, onions). The calamari was crispy and not heavily breaded. The seafood salad was fresh and had a lot of seafood. The pizza had a good chew and had a lot of toppings. The only thing that I didn't like was that the mushrooms were canned and not fresh. My family and I - long suffering from our own little Coronavirus Cabin Fever Calamity - had enough! It was time to go to a restaurant and actually stay there for dinner!! What a concept!! Luckily, Domani set up some tables outside and their staff were all equipped with masks and gloves. All good!! It was so nice to get some semblance of normalcy in our lives again. We truly enjoy eating out - even our son, who's only on the cusp of entering his teenage years, is a mini-foodie already. The Maitre'd was wonderful - so welcoming, and our server was great. We enjoyed a cocktail to start off the July 4th weekend, with apps and some nice entrees afterwards. No dessert this evening Had the crispy teriyaki calamari special - it was OK. Fresh, not chewy at all, but didn't seem like it was made on premises - seemed more like previously frozen calamari. Made me long for Rudy's calamari in Cliffside, or E&V in Paterson back in the day. The potato croquettes were better and the personal size margarita pie for my son was very good. My entree, a seafood puttanesca, was excellent. With sea scallops, scungilli, and shrimp over linguini in a red sauce with black olives and capers, it was well balanced. Great dish! My wife's Gnocchi Bolognese topped with ricotta was very good as well. Our server was attentive, cheery and busy! Glad to see Domani is doing well in this prolonged challenging period for the restaurant industry. Note: Their menu is enormous- almost too much. But so far I've enjoyed a variety of seafood dishes here and the food has always been good. This spot is definitely in our rotation of Italian places in the area. Used to be better. Hadn't been here in years and I ordered some catering for a graduation party. Food was ok. Went back a few days ago to eat there and was not the same as I remember it. Stood at the hostess stand for 2 minutes before the kid at the counter said it's "seat yourself" (why is there a stand?) Waiters were really nice and attentive but the food was not great. My son ordered a personal pie and it was horrible. I ordered the bucatini and it was very watery. My wife had the Domani pasta and it was forgettable. Overall it has a dinner vibe now. This review is based on service over the phone for pickup order and pizza quality. We ordered over the phone and had difficult time having the woman hear us. She seemed new, so all our questions were relayed to someone else, but still she was patient and kind. Finally the call was taken over by a man who had all the answers, and he was nice as well. We ordered a personal style thin crispy crust pizza, topped with onions, spinach, cheese, olives and mushrooms. They told us 20 mins for pickup. Also an order of garlic bread. We arrived, took it back home down the street. We were disappointed in seeing the glaring bread, it was literal open faced bread slathered with garlic butter i guess or butter with garlic powder, but very hard and just burnt garlic taste. Hoping the pizza would save the day, but that also was not hot anymore, the olives didn't seem like it hit the fire like all the other ingredients. as if just placed on top as is. Domani is a well established restaurant with a very busy take out business that has grown over the years. They now have a section specifically for larger parties as well as a bar. When they first started many years ago, I would have definitely given it's a four star rating, but as time has gone on, the quality of food has definitely suffered. At my last takeout experience (Aug 2024), I thought I would try an old reliable dish... the Pasta Domani... Ziti with chicken, tomatoes, and broccoli in olive oil sauce. This dinner portion had exploded to $24 with tax. I know everything has gone up in price, but for it to be this expensive is insane. It does come with a side salad or soup (your choice). What was disappointing this time around was that there was hardly any pasta and the chicken was overcooked. Not a lot of broccoli not tomato. I felt like we got a portion. That was a bunch of leftovers. Fortunately for me, I have dogs that will undoubtedly eat the chicken. Unfortunately. I will no longer be buying the signature dish anymore. I recommend people skip it as well. The takeout business is still very good for them, and their counter stuff does a very good job of getting things sorted. Do not go here if you're planning a meal with family or you're trying to impress somebody. You're better off going to a chain restaurant instead at least you will get food that is predictable. read more

Wow, what a wonderful little gem that I had not yet visited. I had lunch here with my partner and a friend, but I cannot recommend Domani enough. The service from the moment we arrived was impeccable, a truly pleasant experience with all of the staff. We ordered a few alcoholic drinks, which were all fantastic. The strawberry mojito was killer and a must if you love cocktails. While I couldn't partake, my guests said the bread and fried calamari were exquisite. I opted for a gluten-free penne vodka and it was unbelievably delicious. My pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was wonderfully seasoned, I can't remember the last time I ate so much while I was out. They also offer a gluten-free flourless cake, which I will definitely try next time I visit. This was the most pleasant dining experience I've had in a while. read more

I did not have a good takeout experience. I'll start with the positive. My sandwich was juuuuuust fine. Right amount of oil and vinegar to flavor the bread and right amount of sandwich innards. I would order sandwiches from Domani again. The rest did not impress. We received spaghetti that was covered with a lifeless pesto, just not much flavor at all. The worst was the pea and sausage risotto. Instead of arborio rice, it was made with regular white rice and thickened with flour. It unfortunately gave our gluten-averse companion quite the stomachache. Our sides of spinach in garlic and oil and escarole with beans were fine. This was my first time here and I'm definitely going back! We sat outside because we didn't feel comfortable eating inside yet, and the space was great. I started with a Pear Goddess cocktail that was delicious. Then for my meal, I was given some options on how they could accommodate my vegan eating. I landed on 2 different meals, and I couldn't choose between the 2, so I was given the option to combine them. I had the grilled vegetable platter with a side of papardelle pasta with mushrooms and no butter.... and it was soooo delicious. I am not quite sure how you can categorize this restaurant as Italian. Anywhere from the appetizers to the pasta were absolutely horrific. I do not understand the hype with this place. The calamari was frozen and when you ask for oil to dip your bread in, you get some odd concoction that has the visual appearance of unclean dishes and Dawn dish soap. It was a bit tough, but yummy overall. I also sampled my husbands Buccatini Amatriciana, and it was also delightful. We sat outside, and they had Italian music the entire time. My husband and I both liked the music, though my mother in law commented that it seemed that they were trying to draw in an 'older crowd,' so YMMV with your music preferences. PROS: This place had a nice Italian look to it. There was great atmosphere, a bar in one room, a dining room, and an outside eating area. The staff was very nice and attentive as well. There was a lot of food all at great prices that tasted great! Lots of parking and they turn over the tables quickly CONS: the only con that I ran into was the bathroom. It wasn't clean and it was small compared to the crowd the place held. OVERALL: I'm gonna be coming back here a lot more often and I suggest that others do the same. Upping the stars. Now that we've been in town for a few years, we've had the pleasure of coming back to Domanis -- once for dine-in, but mostly for takeout bc kids. It's one of the best Italian restaurants in its class around. Moreover, we've gotten to know the family who owns it, and it's nice to see them whenever we pop in. Some items that are always standout for us: ravioli, the chicken cutlet, rollatini, so... good... The server brought our drinks and the bar tender actually came from around the bar and over to our table to make sure the drink was ok! (It was amazingly wonderful and more than ok!) We ordered the mussels in white sauce as an appie and Oh. Em. Gee. if you have not had this dish yet, run don't walk....SO SO SO Yummy! I had my all time fave, Chicken Mama Mia and my date had Chicken Portofino....both entrees were fantastic. The service was awesome as always too....The prices are fair, the staff is so nice, the owner is as charming as could be.... I don't know why anyone in this area would dine anywhere else! The food was delicious! The salad that comes with your entree was one of the freshest and most delicious salads I have had in a long time. We sat in the bar area - which was very cozy. Our server, Christine - was so efficient and pleasant - taking great care of us while she also tended the bar. I had the veal sorrentino which was tender and delicious.
