Tried it again recently hoping new ownership improved and they did not! Place is not the same. Everything is off. People were friendly in the past, portions were good now they are noticeably weighed smaller, and prices increased. The new owners really broke this place. I have been a patron of Schreiber's for a long time. Growing up in town, they were always good any reliable. Today, I called in an order at about one o'clock and the person that took my order said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I showed up 12 minutes later and was told that they hadn't made my sandwich but would start making it now. I had called in my order to save time and had to leave hungry because it wasn't ready. read more

New ownership took over a couple of weeks ago. Many mistakes in completing orders and kept apologizing for the mistakes. Unsure if they are preparing the food the way the prior owners did, or following appropriate sanitary procedures. There seems to be no way of knowing. read more

I love Schreiber's! I've been a customer here for more than 20 years. They make an awesome Italian combo. I love their salads as well. The cucumber salad and macaroni salad are my favorites. I really appreciate that they have the "mini" options as it is a perfect amount to go with a sandwich. Schreiber's remains one of the most affordable deli options in the area. read more

You have to be an idiot to spend $12 for a pound of tuna salad. It's tuna and mayo. $6 for a pound of potato salad. I'll send you the recipe. They don't have any hot gravy sandwiches or soup or specials on the weekends. Very lackluster store and employees. Not impressed. read more

Great New York style Deli! Innocuous , barebones interior mask great assortment of meat and fish delicacies. I cannot write enough superlatives about their "world famous" potato salad" A meal in itself with a fabulous taste that is unique to Schreiber's! 5 stars Ever since I started working in Oradell (July), I've wanted to try this spot and I FINALLY did today. I was at work and called for a pick-up. I ordered a Cold Russian (homemade roast beef, coleslaw, and russian) and a half pound of German Potato Salad. The gentleman on the phone said 10 minutes and that's when I got there. It was packed neatly and ready to go. Rewind a bit.....when I got there, there were only 3 or 4 spots in front and they were occupied, so I parked on the side street right before the place and walked over (about a half a block....not a city block, a small block). It was fine for me even though I am disabled. I also noticed there is a big parking lot in the back. When I went in, it looked like your typical deli/lunch spot. It was bright and very clean. There were 2 people ahead of me but there were a few workers so I was helped immediately. First off, the employees were SUPER nice! Even though it was my first time there, they made me feel at home. I grabbed my lunch, left a tip, and headed back to work. Once I got there I immediately tore open the bag and checked out what I got. Man, it all looked great! German Potato Salad: not what I was expecting, but only because it didn't have bacon.....but it didn't matter. The taste was amazing! Perfect amount of tang and sweetness. Cold Russian: man this was good! The roast beef was tasty and the most tender roast beef I've ever had. No fat or gristle at all. I didn't even need cheese, salt or pepper (although I'm sure that would've put it over the top). The coleslaw was creamy and the seedless rye seemed fresh. As I was eating, my supervisor was hungry and I told her about this place. She immediately ordered a pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut, Swiss and mustard with a side of regular potato salad. She really enjoyed it too! I had sent a pic to my man earlier and on my way home for work I decided to stop there and grab him some grub. I got him a roast beef on rye with mayo and cheddar. I also grabbed a half pound of cucumber salad. My goodness, that was AMAZING too! That cucumber salad was just so refreshing. Prices? Awesome too! Both times I went it was $9! $6.50 for the sandwiches and $2.50 for the half pounds of salads. If I had to complain about something.....i wish they would be more consistent about posting their specials on FB. I know I can call, but just being able to see it there would be awesome. Oh and their hours are great! Most places like this close at 5 or 5:30. This place closes at 6 during the week so it makes it convenient to stop there after work. I will definitely start ordering on the regular. They will know me by name lol. read more

I'm not sure why i haven't written a review for this place before - its a go to for my family. The best potato salad EVER! They have excellent sandwiches, wraps and salads. The American Chicken, Rancher and turkey club heroes are some of our favorites. We are frequent customers of this place - the owners could not be any nicer - generous to local sports programs and families. Truly a part a of the community. We are here at least once a week. Just ordered for pick up for the first time at Scheriber's. I called at 12:30 on a Friday afternoon and placed an order for four sandwiches. They told me the sandwiches would be ready in 10 minutes, I was skeptical but I left right away. I arrived and found that the deli was buzzing with customers coming and going which I took as a good sign. To my surprise, the sandwiches were ready for me just 10 minutes after I had ordered, wrapped up and in a bag ready to go. Four sandwiches and three bags of chips were $35 - a deal. Service was very pleasant, the deli was clean and was obviously prepared for the lunch rush as they were fully staffed and the sided in the case were full, seemed fresh and ready to be served. What could make them better for us is if they maybe added a green salad to the menu. Overall, my coworkers were very pleased with their sandwiches, as was I. I went to Schreiber's after reading all the good reviews. I ordered my sandwich however while waiting for it I was dismayed to see an elderly woman slicing meats for sandwiches and transferring it from a scale in her bare hands, no gloves. The rest of the workers were gloved, thankfully including the one taking my order. The sandwich was ok, nothing extraordinary. The woman should be instructed on basic hygiene in a food preparation establishment, especially during COVID. However, the elderly worker might be Mrs Schreiber and makes her own rules. Best Potato salad in Bergen County! Can't find any better and I've been living here for 30 years

Came here for the very first time the other day on my lunch break. I think I have found my favorite deli in the area. This place took me by surprise for sure on the huge selection they have. I ordered a sandwich from their hot hero menu, the American chicken hero. Consisted of breaded chicken cutlet, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. (interested combo. but very good). I also was able to take some potato salad with, and let me tell you I'm picky with potato salad, and this was the best one I've ever had hands down. Super delicious, the potatoes are sliced thin, so creamy, ah. They have hot foods as well available for lunch, which is nice because not alot of places around here have real hot foods prepared it's usually just sandwiches. They also have some dry foods for purchase , almost like a small grocery store. They have catering as well for the holidays. I grew up coming to Schreiber's Deli for sandwiches and side salads and after moving back to the area as an adult, I come back regularly. Best potato and macaroni salad ever. The cucumber salad is also refreshing. Good housemade roast beef, fresh turkey. The staff are always pleasant and down to earth. No pretenses here, just solid, delicious deli meats and sides. They have loyal customers and know them all by name. This is that type of hometown spot that doesn't always get a lot of credit because it isn't fancy schmancy, but the old school feel of it is what makes it charming and they can focus on what has kept them great for the last 30+ years. 2.5 stars. The sandwiches are average. There's not much "love" put into assembling any sandwich. If you're looking for a great sandwich, go down the road to Dante's. I remember the macaroni salad being better. I recently got a large container of it and it wasn't seasoned enough and watery, too. Maybe it had been sitting around a while? All the salads seem popular though. They seem to move quickly, which means they are making them often. read more

This review is a long time in the coming! The staff is always very accommodating; we call in orders to pick up at least once or twice a month and everything is always correct, fresh and tasty, sandwiches are great - our favorite is the American chicken, and the Lina wrap! And like all of the other reviews say, the potato salad is bar none! I can't even think of places in the city that have as good potato and macaroni salad!
