Finally got our order at 7:45 which screwed up the rest of our evening plans. I understand NYE is a busy night, which is why we ordered 4 hours in advance. So I ordered through door dash. I saw all the raves that their food was amazing. So I gave it a try. The chicken was dry in all 3 meals. The sweet and sour is all together not separate like most places and when I pulled it out the sauce fell out and was extremely hot . They gave me 2 soy sauce packs for 3 orders. When I called to complain about the chicken being dry they told me since I ordered door dash they couldn't do anything. Unless I wanted to drive there ( I couldn't) so they said the next time I come in to let them know they would replace it. Honestly 1 I don't order out much and 2 if they messed this up on all 3 why would I take that chance. For a 80 dollar meal it should be absolutely amazing ..I'll stick to where I normally go. read more

How many ways can I say AWFUL? Well let's start with a colossal waste of $26 on inedible food! The Fried Vegetable Dumpling was so tough, one side was Fried Greasy Hard, while the other side was rubbery and uncooked with no flavor at all, you had to cut it with a knife and the taste was greasy. The Shrimp Spring Roll was so greasy, tasted like old oil, the shrimp inside wasn't even chopped up with the vegetables and it was poorly cooked, very rubbery and had no taste. The Chicken Fried Rice was anything but Fried Rice... it was no more that sticky white rice doused in soy sauce with a few pieces of tasteless white chicken mixed in! The general Tao's was alright, fried rice was totally bland (ordered pork but received chicken), the double hot was hot but without flavor, the Mongolian beef smelled and tasted like beef from a taco, and the dumplings were just ok. I'm not sure how I haven't yet reviewed Noodle 88, but it's fantastic restaurant that deserves a review! On our first trip in, we decided to try a variety of items. Fried rice, rice noodles, lo mein, sesame chicken, general tso chicken, dumplings, spring rolls, etc. I can honestly say that EVERYTHING was impressive! We had plenty of leftovers, but we polished them off within a day. We tend to get the same things over and over- the rice noodles are a favorite!- but we also tried a few new things. The one dish that BLEW MY MIND was the beef and broccoli. The beef is outrageously tender and reheats amazingly well! I also think all of the chicken in their dishes is lovely. White meat chicken, perfectly moist! The only thing I can say is "negative" would be the lo mein. It is NOTHING like any Chinese lo mein I have ever eaten. It is thick, ribbon-like noodles. I was pregnant the first time we ordered and I was VERY disappointed in the lo mein. Like, crying pregnant lady disappointed. It isn't BAD, but it's just not for me. Added bonuses are the delightful chocolate fortune cookies and a reward stamp card. You get a stamp for every $25 spent and eventually get a $25 gift card. Drove up to pick up and the parking lot was full - so great to see so many customers supporting this business! Awesome job to the take/out associate who was navigating traffic and grabbing orders. She was super friendly and fast. We ordered pad Thai, home style tofu, zha jiang mein, peony shrimp. Everything was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. The tofu had a nice spicy kick! Noodle Eighty-Eight (Lucky Noodles), is a surprising hybrid house in Souderton, PA. Nicely renovated residence, the dining rooms are simple, but well appointed for comfort and utilitarian style. We were there for Sunday lunch, although there was no special menu. The main attraction were the Xiao Long Bao, the Shanghai soup dumpling specialty that I had been Jones-ing for. We added mushroom filled spring rolls as a second appetizer, and General Tso's Chicken and Short Ribs as entrees. In order of appearance the meal ran from excellent to ordinary. The XLB were very good, with steaming tasty pork truffle oil bouillon and filling. The gingered vinegar was a nice complement to pour into the pouch once the top knot was bitten off and the mixed contents sucked out. Such a tactile fun experience. The Spring Rolls were deep fried and stuffed with ground mushroom and sweet dipping sauce. They were crunchy, but the filling had little flavor nor interest. Wouldn't get this again. The side greens salad was small, but had a pleasing sweet vinegar finish. It's unusual to get a salad in a Chinese house, and this was a tip of their chef's cap to their hybrid intentions. Far better than the ginger goop dressing on iceberg found in almost all sushi zones. General Tso was the weak soldier this day. The pieces were large requiring cutting to consume (thus, the need for western flatware). The breading was thick and not at all crisp, and the old man had spent too much time being woked. It was dry and lacked any verve. Disappointing. Luckily, the day was saved by the Short Rib dish. More western than Asian in presentation and taste, it was tender, juicy and packed a tangy punch from the excellently reduced sauce. It pulled off the bone easily. But for the baby bok choy, this reminded of a good pot roast or sauerbraten. Regardless, it was nearly perfect. We made the drive from Newtown in 40 minutes on a rainy afternoon. Given the overall experience it is doubtful we would do it again. The dishes were inconsistent, but priced for perfection. Service was good, but without expected hot tea, nor rice. Also true about the parking situation. Not good unless you park across the road, around the corner or find one of the few that hug the building. 3.5 STARS read more

One wouldn't expect authentic Chinese cuisine in Souderton, PA. But that is just what you'll find here. It's a converted house. The second floor is residences, and the dining room is a little cramped. Most tables seat 2, 4, or 6 guests. There was a good mix of Chinese (always a good sign) and non-Chinese patrons. The menu is an odd foldable menu. The prices for a lot of dishes are surprisingly low. We chose our dishes based on online reviews, so we went with the General Tso's Chicken and Pork Shoulder. Both were as reviewed, with the GTC particularly tasty. My wife, who doesn't like friend dishes like this, really enjoyed it. We also ordered a Szechuan Tofu dish with the numbing Szechuan pepperporns. The unique feature of Noodle 88 is that all entrees come with a salad and noodles. The menu doesn't say much about these add-ons, but they are a nice touch. The salad dressing is light, sweet, and slightly zesty. The noodles are hand drawn shaved flat noodles with a little salt, pepper, and sesame oil (my guess here). It's a nice change of pace from a bowl of rice (which is available, too). read more

We were out for dinner with family and we had such a great feast at Noodle 88! My husband's family is from Taiwan and I have been there once. I can say the way they prepare the food and the caring of choosing the ingredients and the seasonings are pretty similar and we could happily taste that typical Taiwan flavor again! They don't use MSG and the seafood we had was very fresh. We had dumplings and spring rolls as appetizers (great pastry and filling!). I had Beef Noodle soup and it was amazingly good! We also tried the Pad thai and the Seafood Noodles (I think it was a Day Special) and the Pork shoulder which was very tasty and big - perfect to be shared with a least 4 people. For dessert, we had Bubble tea in a light bulb (so cute!) and we took the fried chicken to go - because we were so full but we still wanted to order more dishes haha. Big fan of Noodle 88! I received a copy of their menu in the mail a few weeks ago and thought it'd be worth the 15 minute drive over to Souderton. I was right! It's nice little restaurant, that I would assume (don't quote me) is a BYOB. Staff is very friendly and seem happy to accommodate any requests they can. I've been craving noodles for about a year now, so this is exactly what I've been looking for. Half of their noodle dishes are $6.88 or less. You can't beat that. The Dan Dan Noodles pack a solid punch of heat. The Curry Braised Beef Noodle is a cool option that you may not have tried before. We also loved the Zha Jian Mein's mix of peanuts, edamame, and spices. Also loved the Pad Thai and Stir Fried Rice Noodles. Almost all of the noodles given you an option on meats, so you don't have to get chicken in everything. All delicious. Plus they have a frequent noodle eater card that gives you a free order of noodles after your tenth (I'm 7 in). Love promotions like this! We're yet to try and actual entree, but I'm hoping to try the Pork Shoulder soon as it seems really popular. I wish their soups and dumplings weren't the same price as the noodles, because I'd like to try all of those as well. They do a great job. If you're into Chinese noodles, stop here. read more

This is the kind of place I'd like to work my way through the entire menu, everything looked good. Since I was eating solo I only got 3 items. The hot chrysanthemum tea was surprisingly sweet, but not sugary. The chicken & mushroom dumplings were so good I accidentally ate all 6 before my main dish. The noodle dish (can't remember the name now) had white chicken meat, picked greens & edemame. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked. Ughhhhhh found a bug in two batches of rice!! Wasn't going to post a negative review but after opening and eating the second meal only to discover a second bug halfway through I was so grossed out! Soo disappointed because I've been eyeing this place forever, wanting to try it. Staff was super nice but really not sure I'll get past this experience, unfortunately. Also, TBH food was just ok. Schezuan Dumplings were great and the Dan Dan noodles also pretty good. We also tried the general tso's (until the bug discovery), it had "real" chicken which I appreciated but the flavor was meh, I've also had way better pad Thai before. I got the impression this place might be better when dining in but unfortunately due to Covid we don't have that option right now. Yes, freshly made with fresh chicken made to order and fresh broccoli. I've had this dish twice and both times the meal had been exactly the same. Perfection! Perfect spice temp. If you want it really hot ask for it. It comes mild. Pad Thai - protein was Vegetables. I've been looking for this dish everywhere and nobody made it correctly. N88 makes it exactly how I've had it back home in Cali or in Asia. So friggin good. Steamed Dumplings - it's a dumpling. That's about it. Several proteins to choose from. We love the Chicken with Shiitake Mushroom, that's our favorite. Dan Dan Noodles - it says it comes with a Szechuan style bean sauce. However it looked more like a spicy chili oil to me. Regardless, it was phenom. Protein was chicken. I swear the noodles look homemade, but I have seen some really good bag noodles before too. If you're reading this and we're still under the "stay at home" mandate they're on Door Dash and delivery is pretty good. Finally went here for the first time the other day (forgot to check in- oops!). Ive known about this place for a long time and have been meaning to come try it. The ambiance is nice. Its clean and there are cloth tables with fancy glasses filled with ice water, and also each place setting has a cloth napkin. I still managed to show up in gym attire... I had pad thai. Now, I have actually never had pad thai before. I got the vegetable pad thai and it was good. I do not; however, like tofu. I could have done without it. I liked the portion sizes here. Not too big, not too small. I know some folks appreciate large portion sizes but I do not (Im watching my girlish figure). Parking here is quite a hassle though. And thats coming from someone who has spent the last few years working and living in philly. I originally parked in DQ lot but there were signs that said Id get towed...(the philly part of me was like "pshhhh yea right- not my first time getting a ticket!"). But then I saw around 3 signs that said not to park there so I moved. Theres some odd parallel parking spots against the fence...another person parked so badly that they practically took up 2 spots (again the philly part of me wanted to just hit their bumper as I parked to teach them a lesson). Best soup dumplings in the Philadelphia area/surrounding suburbs. Have been to some of the more famous places in Chinatown, Philadelphia but Noodle 88's soup dumplings can't be matched. Broth has a very consistent and balanced flavor. Dumpling wraps are the perfect texture... Found many other places struggled with this. The rest of their menu is not like the typical Chinese dishes. I wasn't thoroughly impressed with Noodle Eighty Eight when I went, but I think they have a lot of promise. I ordered beef dumplings and honey vinegar chicken which came with noodles. The dumpling filling was just alright, but the dumpling wrapper was fantastically cooked and prepared. The chicken was sweet but that's par for the course for most Asian chicken dishes. The noodles were clearly homemade, but mine were a little overdone. Still, a place with homemade noodles is somewhere I would want to try again, so I'm eager to return and try some more noodles!! read more
