Love the implying soup but so far every dish I have tried has been good. Owner spends time out with the customers which is also nice to see

There is plenty of parking, plenty of indoor seating space and the ambiance is nice. We all shared Mushroom & Pork Soup Dumplings, Pork Soup Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles, Pork and Chive Pan-fried Dumplings, and Beef and Onion Spicy & Sour Dumplings. If I had more room in my tummy, I would have ordered at least 4 more things from their amazing menu. We all had zero self-control and dig in before I could think to take any pictures. The soup dumplings were a hit for all three of us. I especially enjoyed the Beef and Onion Spicy & Sour Dumplings. My dad especially liked the Dan Dan Noodles because they were very peanut forward.

It is anything but in point of fact, it is in my estimation, a unique culinary experience. I don't write from the perspective of comparing this food to other Malaysian dishes that I've had in point of fact to the best of my recollection I don't think that I've ever had Malaysian cuisine. But if this restaurant is an example, I have missed a great deal. The food is very unique the servings are very gracious charitable. The prices are incredibly reasonable given the distinction of this particular cuisine and given the portions and quality of food that is served. The service is quite simple and the restaurant is actually quite small. However, I must tell you from A service perspective. It's truthfully amazing because the takeout business is extremely active. Not to mention the fact that the chef walks out and speaks to people will share anything that you want to know about Malaysian food and obviously from the quality of the food that I ate not only is his explanation thorough but my guess is his skills are incredible. As I said it is very small so it's difficult to Alpine about the ambience other than it was quite clean and given the number of whom I suspect were Malaysian people it's obviously quite popular within that community. So I take that to be a sign that this food is quite native in nature. I had a pork meal, which is only on Sundays. I spoke to the chef about it, and he explained that the preparation started one day in advance of actually serving the meal, so I understand why it is only served once a week. Although I must tell you because I lack familiarity it seemed to me that I would be hours and hours trying to replicate any of the dishes. All I can tell you is this if you are in an exploratory mood for a cuisine and have had or have not had Malaysian before I suspect this is a place to go. Quite informal, extremely fair pricing very generous portions great service very pleasant people and frankly it's a a family affair of what you will see many when you go. Quite a lovely experience.

I had time to squeeze in one last meal before leaving Houston, and after seeing Pho Dien…read morerecommended all over TikTok and by so many friends, I knew I had to give it a try! I'll admit I was a little skeptical going in because I genuinely think my favorite pho spot in Texas is still in Austin where I live. That being said, Houston has such an incredible Vietnamese food scene that I've been making it my mission to try as many of the highly recommended spots as I can! When my pho first came out, I thought the broth was rich and flavorful, but it didn't immediately blow me away. Then the manager came over and started chatting with me, asking where I was visiting from and what some of my favorite pho spots were. He even asked what style of broth I usually like, and after I told him I tend to prefer a richer broth, he brought me a side of their fatty broth to add in. It made SUCH a difference!! It added so much depth and flavor, and I appreciated that he took the time to personalize my meal instead of just serving the food and walking away. What impressed me even more was how attentive everyone was. The manager noticed I'd asked for to-go containers even though I'd barely touched my food and came over to make sure everything was okay. I had to explain that I just wasn't as hungry as I thought I'd be haha. He was SO kind and even packed me an extra container of the fatty broth to take home, which was such a thoughtful gesture. We also ordered the grilled pork vermicelli, and WOW...it was honestly one of the best versions I've ever had! The pork was incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Between the delicious food and the genuinely amazing hospitality, I can definitely see why Pho Dien is so well-loved. Next time I definitely want to come back and try their bone marrow pho!!

Located inside of the 99 Ranch Market (#1) along Mason, it had so much potential but struggled with foot traffic. As a result, it closed for good several weeks ago. With only a handful of tables, the setup was casual and completely unpretentious. The restaurant transitioned from over-the-counter ordering to a self service kiosk, a practice that has become commonplace amongst many Asian eateries. Prices were reasonable for the area, with plenty of options under $10. The menu featured a number of classics true to Shanghainese cuisine, including their stir fried udon (上海粗炒麵), scallion oil noodles (葱油拌面), min purse wontons (小馄饨), and even braised wheat gluten (烤麩). All of these items delivered in a big way, even their steamed dumplings (水餃) was silky and plump. Unfortunately two Shanghainese staples fell short: soup dumplings / XLB (小籠包) and pan fried buns / SJB (生煎包). The XLB was doughy, unstable, and the broth lacked depth. The SJB suffered from a similar doughy texture, with very little crisp at the bottom. These were not issues initially, but over time the decline in quality became noticeable. There is a part of me that hopes for a revival in a new location. While there is no shortage of soup dumplings in Houston, Shanghainese cuisine remains rare. ___________ (#1) 99 Ranch Market - Katy: https://www.yelp.com/biz/99-ranch-market-katy-2
