Service is friendly and the even though this spot is no frills, it is a familiar place with a very family-centered atmosphere. You can not go wrong with old reliable. The quality of the food 9/10, the price was a bit on the pricey side for the portions of the dishes. The hot & sour soup was $17! It wasn't anything special about it. I thought it was a bit steep for a family size, but I guess good service made up for it. I'm not sure if they were offering Chinese New Year specials, but within an hour there were several big parties with reservations. I recommend this place for authentic Cantonese Chinese food. I must commend the interior design; the murals they have curated throughout the space are a visual masterpiece, elevating the entire decor into something truly sophisticated. On her excellent recommendation, I selected the roast duck. The efficiency of the kitchen was marvelous; our entrée was presented precisely within ten minutes. The roast duck was, without question, an absolute revelation. The execution and preparation were completely flawless crisp, succulent, and seasoned to absolute perfection. As I've said, in other dumpling places since this is a non-native food for me I can't speak to how close to authentic it is but regardless of its authenticity, it is well worth the experience. The service is extremely efficient very prompt you want for nothing. The only problem is that it is now a popular enough spot apparently that the demand on the single server which was in the restaurant on this particular occasion is considerable plus that same server buses the tables. In any case, she was absolutely wonderful extremely efficient and very kind. Took her time to explain items on the menu and then to discuss what some of her favorites amongst the many items they offer are. Will take her up on it the next time. The ambience is rather straightforward. Nothing luxurious whatsoever, but it gets the job done and so I'm certainly not going to opine negatively given the food service and the value. It is quite clean, which to me is a fundamental requirement of any restaurant. This restaurant certainly meets that criteria without any difficulty whatsoever. We usually tip pretty well, so the amount was not an issue--but the fact that the staff who helped us TOLD us the pre-tip price is $126 and then REFUSED TO GIVE US the bill after we paid made us suspicious. After repeated badgering, we were finally handed the bill and saw the $150 price. We would have been fine if you told us the automatic tip for a party of our size or that there's an amount/dishes-cap for the automatic tip--but if we had not asked for our bill four/five times by different members of our party, then we would have accidentally left another cash tip on the table. The ONLY reason we kept asking for the bill in the first place is because we wanted to make sure that a dessert plate we ordered--which never arrived during the entire service--was not charged. Taste was authentic, portion sizes okay, and there was a good selection of food from different parts of China on the menu, but absolutely would NOT come back again due to this shady business practice.
