What an unassumingly great establishment for casual dim sum and traditional chinese. I love noodle lee/ noodle wong for that reason: that it is absolutely simple, clean and well done. I came here on a sunday for the dim sum abd it was quiet, but if you place an order in it comes out fresh. The shrimp rice rolls are soft and succulent, the shrimp being very large. Served with soy vinegar sauce. My favorite is the shrimp shumai, full of shrimp and no BS filler. The shrimp dumpling is my third favorite and the fried shrimp ball being my least. Ordered chinese broccoli on the side, very well done. And of course, we always have hot tea on standby pairs well to wash down all the salt. Stopped here for a big banquet, they have a big room to one side that they can break out and do big celebrations and more. Lots of courses, delicious dimsum with coconut shrimp, the beef & broccoli was authentic, and the crispy chicken was excellent. The soup they had was very good - tofu, seaweed, and some minced fish. Other dishes like the noodle, fried rice, and vegetarian dishes were ok (although a little bland compared to some of the other dishes). A good mix of authentic and Americanized Chinese dishes available, so I would promote the more authentic and skip the things like sweet & sour chicken. Hit or miss lately - today we were quickly seated right by the kitchens so it was really loud where bussers were slamming dishes and carts were being loaded so lots of yelling by the boss who looks pissed off all the time. Somehow those carts got loaded and then zipped away without offering to us - just mayhem. Felt like we were just ignored though we are pretty regular customers. Asked for hot sauce and got some really weird tasting oil which actually tasted rancid. So the food usually covers the noise or service aspects - but not so much today. Very disappointing. They just charged a surcharge when I paid by credit card. It is NOT stated anywhere - so the charge is not legal. I should have disputed it, but when I explained to the person at the register (manager, it seems), he didn't seem to care at all. I am a long time customer - decades long. While this place doesn't even compare to the great selection of dim sum across the street at Qin Dynasty, it is always empty so easy to get a seat. Really top-notch dimsum place in New Jersey! The hargow shrimp dumpling was tender and juicy, with a skin that was firm but not dry. The chive shrimp dumpling was full of chives, and pretty large. The restaurant is close by to my job, I had gotten out early enough I need just small bites like dim sum to hold me over. When I ordered online they have an online ordering system that's supposed to notify you when your order is ready...but mine didn't update. I was right there anyways so no biggie. The restaurant was very quiet at the time I arrived. The owner was nice and had greeted me immediately. I ordered a small egg drop soup, bean curd skin with pork and shrimp, and scallion pancake. Service is typical Chinese restaurant fare...limited communication, they just don't get it. American customers (not FOB-Asians) wanted to be waited on. We want things like water at the table. The fried rice seemed to be crunchy...like it had pieces of toe nails in it. Candied walnut shrimp...sigh. Cooked fine but not enough mayonnaise on it with the broccoli. Clearly they tossed the walnuts on there. How about MIXING the dish before it goes on the plate. They ordered orange chicken for me (chicken was overcooked) and they all resembled fingers (the shape). What part of a chicken looks like a finger? Fried dumplings (also ordered for me) were meh. Skins were too thin, not cooked long enough. Has to ask for soy sauce. What kind of "dumpling place" doesn't already have it out? No comment on the 3-4 other dishes (I did not eat them). The food was good but not great, but there's plenty of it. This is the kind of place you bring the entire family or lots of friends and the buffet comes to you. Like the dim sum places in Chinatown New York. The service is very good but we were lucky that my friend is Chinese, so he could easily communicate with the service people and tell us what the items were. There isn't much in the way of ambiance, big dinning room, big round tables with white tablecloth. No decorations, just bland. We were full before half the delicacies were rolled out. Dim sum restaurants are so far and few in between ANYWHERE in NJ that it's a very sad state of affairs in the state. And, unfortunately, the fact that Noodle Wong's (actually now named Noodle Lee) food was disappointing puts a dagger in the already limited number of dim sum options here. Noodle Lee seemed pretty promising according to the reviews and my hopes were pretty high that I had found one of those hidden gems not too far away from home. We strolled in at around 11:30 on a quiet November Saturday morning and, first, the good news - this restaurant was much, MUCH, bigger than I anticipated. It seemed pretty small on the outside, but, once you walk into the restaurant, you're actually in the smaller dining room, which is connected to the wayyyy, wayyyy bigger dining room where all of the dim sum action takes place. When we arrived, there were about 10 tables that were occupied already, but, don't fret, there are probably 25-30 tables in this room alone, so take a chill pill and arrive at your own leisure. No need to rush to hog up a table, put your name down or take a number slip - all of which are, unfortunately, major turnoffs of the dim sum experience at popular dim sum restaurants. And this is not to say that the most best dim sum restaurants have the most traffic because that's not always true. It's really about location, location, location. Anyway, I digress. We had our pick of tables when we arrived and, it goes without saying, we were seated immediately. Another thing I loved about this restaurant was the dim sum cart experience. Something about picking the dishes you want from a cart instead of checking it off of a piece of paper just makes it so much more authentic and wholesome. I guess I'm just old school. As for food selection, they pretty much had everything you would expect at dim sum - beef rice rolls, shrimp rice rolls, pork and shrimp dumplings, shrimp dumplings, pork and chive dumplings, chicken feet, baby pork ribs, beef meatballs, spring rolls, sticky rice, egg tarts, coconut pudding, etc. You name it, they probably had it. With all of the good vibes I just put out there with the great spacing, old school dim sum cart experience and solid dim sum variety, I'm about to squash it all with the disappointing flavors. Everything that we ordered, which was a majority of what I listed above, was shockingly lacking flavor. Rarely, I mean RARELY, does one complain about lack of flavor at authentic, legit Chinese restaurants. If anything, food would be overly salted, but, they missed the message here. Our experience was nearly perfect leading up to the first bite and just about everything we ate was just missing something. I would have loved to have tried a noodle dish from the kitchen, but we opted out due to the less than thrilling taste of the dim sum. Even though the food wasn't great, due to the convenience of coming here and the fact that there is not even a remote chance of ever waiting for a table, I would definitely give them another shot. And that just shows you how little of a selection of dim sum restaurants there are in NJ. Oh, and one more bright spot in that there is PLENTY of parking available for customers since this restaurant is part of a strip mall so that's one less stress ball to bring if you plan on dropping by. read more

First it was Noodle Chu, then it was Noodle Wong, and now the restaurant is called Noodle Lee (although as of this time their website and Yelp still has name Noodle Wong listed). Despite the apparent changes in ownership, the interior and exterior (except for the sign) remain unchanged. As near as I can tell the menu has remained unchanged as well, except for the prices. I'm a big dim sum fan and I visit my sister in New York every chance I get to enjoy it, but sometimes you just want some dumplings without the tolls and tunnels. Sadly, there aren't many options for dim sum in this part of NJ, but there is Noodle Lee/Wong/Chu... whatever. You can get dim sum here any day of the week. On Saturday and Sunday, it's available 10am-3pm on the rolling carts, but I've only been here during the week when you can order the dim sum from the menu 11:30am-3pm. Perhaps the experience is different on the weekends, but I was very disappointed by my recent weekday dim sum lunch. I got there about 12:30pm and the restaurant was entirely empty, although one other diner did show up during the course of my meal. The interior is dated, a bit threadbare and a little depressing. Maybe I would feel differently if it was filled with customers and there was food on the tables, but that was not the case. I was given my choice of tables by the gentleman who also turned out to be the waiter. This was not a happy person. He wasn't rude at all, but he seemed to really just be going through the motions. There was no joy or welcoming in his attitude, but frankly dim sum is frequently associated with surly servers so I'm really ok with that if the food is good. It was not. It wasn't horrible or rancid, but it did taste like it had been sitting in the freezer for too long. I suspect it also went straight from the freezer into the steamer, which resulted in very mushy, wet dumplings that tasted overcooked. The actual flavor was fine; it was the texture that ruined it. I ordered a Shrimp Noodle and a Shrimp Dumpling. The Shrimp Noodles are sheets of rice noodle rolled with shrimp inside and doused with squirt of sweet soy sauce. This is a staple of most dim sum restaurants and with the exception of texture issues I mentioned, the taste was really ok. The Shrimp Dumplings (also called Har Gow) were similar in that the taste was fine, but the wrappers had become gummy. Both cost $5.25 each, which is not unreasonable. The meal came with the usual pot of tea, which was hot and tasted fine. I didn't see the waiter again, not that I wanted to order more, but he didn't know that. Eventually I walked to the back of the restaurant to find someone to pay. I don't envision returning to Noodle Lee unless I hear that the weekend experience is truly different. If so, perhaps I'll give them another shot. read more

I came here with my family recently for a family reunion. We went on a Saturday afternoon for their dim sum. I have been her multiple times when this place was still Noodle Chu, however, ever since the ownership changed-- the food has also gone downhill. When we arrived at our table, the table cloth was still a bit dirty from the previous family who ate there. There was a stain on their table cloth and none of the waiters bothered to change it. Since we arrived early, we were still waiting on another family. The table can sit around 8 people, and my family only consists of 3 people. The waitresses were already bombarding us with all these different dishes even though we told them multiple times we were still waiting on another family. The food was terribly bland. Hardly any flavor at all. We ordered many dishes and most of them tasted very plain. The renovations since they changed from Noodle Chu are very nice - seems like a lot more space, which is nice as it doesn't feel as cramped with people as Qin Dynasty across the street. The staff is very friendly to us - they love kids and babies and are always welcoming to our family. Dim sum generally is a big hit with the family since (1) the food comes right away so no "I'm sooo hungry" complaints and (2) lots of different choices so everyone has their favorites. Our favorites here are the pork dumplings, the tripe, the pork buns (kids favorite), and the sticky rice. The fried calamari is also excellent. We typically avoid the duck here as it's too fatty and very little meat for the price. I have patronized this establishment several times due to their Wonton soup. Moreover, i hopes that both the quality of service and food would improved, but to no avail. My last visit was approximately a week ago. My friend and I had visited Shoprite and we did not feel like driving a good distance for Chinese food. When we inquired about the rice, the server stated that it would be 15 minutes. However, a group at another table, who arrived after us, received rice with their entrees at the same time, before we did. Because it took so long for the rice, we had already consumed one of the entrees. The rice finally came out as we decided to leave after approximately 20 minutes.Moreover, they attempted to charge EXTRA for the rice! When we asked the manager to deduct the extra charge, he demanded that the server take the rice back to the kitchen after bringing it to our table. After his outburst, we insisted that he also deduct the horrible Mu Shu Pork which arrived at the table cold and we did not consume due to the gnats that were circling the dish?? We waited 35 minutes, no one came to take our order, I finally went and asked the man that appeared to be in charge, he hastily came and took our order. He seemed miserable, and acted like he was doing me a favor taking my order. After taking our order, we waited another 30 minutes, nothing was coming out. So after being at the restaurant for an hour, we still haven't had anything to eat. We notice other customers also looking around for waiters and we're flagging down wait staff. It's clear they were not able to handle the crowd. Meanwhile, the man in charge was still seating people that were walking in. If you can't handle the customers that's already seated, why would you seat more people?! We finally decided to leave, my kids were hungry and we had no idea when the food would come. The food is way tastier and the selection is much wider in comparison to their nearby competitors (Qin Dynasty across the highway, for example) and their sesame balls are the BEST. The interior is also much more open and less cramped than it used to be when it was "Noodle Chu". Some tips before you go: - BRING CASH. If you pay with cash, they don't charge you tax. - I've noticed that if you go earlier in the day (I'd say before 12:30ish), they have a larger dim sum selection in the carts to choose from. I've been going here since I was little for dimsum on sunday mornings. With COVID, we weren't able to go so after a year and a half we finally came back today, and it was everything I remembered it to be, if not better. The staff are so kind and friendly, even if some of them have very limited English. The food is so yummy as well, of course. I was a little bummed to find out they no longer make the fried small fish - they were my favorite before, but overall still great food! I went to this restaurant on a Saturday and there was a decent amount of tables filled. They push carts here, so food came out quickly but we also ordered a dish off the main menu which came out fast as well. The traditional har gow and siu mai tasted good, but relatively average compared to other Dim Sum restaurants across the country. The beef chow fun was excellent with very good "wok hei" flavor. Overall a good variety of dishes and solid dim sum. Not as authentic tasting as some of the Dim Sum restaurants in Chinatown, New York, but will satisfy your craving if you don't want to travel to the city. read more

His taste buds and expectations have clearly been diminished because this hole in the wall doesn't care much in terms of their facility or their product. The food was subpar. Had the shrimp dumplings, rice rolls with beef and shrimp, siu mei, egg tarts and chicken sticky rice the only thing that was decent was the sticky rice dish.
