Bought a Geekvape E100 mod from them, that they recommended, but it leaked from day one. Weak magnets and no seals. Bad product. I took it back for a fix and they said to just clean it with alcohol! Obviously that didn't work and they wouldn't give me a refund. They don't stand behind their products, don't understand them and don't give refunds. Ever. But the current crop of salespeople is sadly uneducated about the vapes they carry.. there is a clear difference between an atomizer assembly and a coil, because of a lack of education and refusal to use the same terminology as the manufacturer cause me to waste 8.00 worth of gas to meet with a swarmy salestype who honestly did not know the slightest bit about this. kept on calling the atomizer the top... its a Yocan Evolve XL Atomizer.. learn to call it by the right name so you dont waste ANOTHER CUSTOMERS TIME MONEY AND PATIENCE FOR FOOLS. I used to come to Norcal Smoke Shop all the time! I love the shop and all the employees but recently had trouble with one of the employee, I had gone in on Thursday and felt very disturbed and bothered! I was getting help with a new bottle of vape juice and the person that was "helping" was a short African American with curly hair and earrings, who kept asking way too many questions about myself and "what I do for fun" and "if I was doing anything later tonight" and just was very creepy!... I ended up making it clear to him and gave him the message as if I was clearly not interested and he responded with a deranged and disrespectful behavior... not to mention he did not even look 21 to be working there! and had the audacity to get mad at me. read more

I'm going to start my review by stating that this review is 100% about the vape section of this store. The glass and other items this shop sells are amazing. I will start off by saying this place has great hours; they are almost always open when you need them and will generally have whatever item you need. The staff here is also for the most part pretty great. When I first moved to Monterey a few years ago, this is where I purchased my first setup. I also regularly bought juice here for convenience and because at the time, online prices for juice weren't much cheaper. This store used to have a wonderful selection of vape products; tons of mods from quality companies, rebuildable products, including wire for coils. Im not sure what changed, but if you go into this shop now looking for vape products, all you are going to find are products from SMOK. Pretty much everyone in the vape community has recognized SMOK products as 100% garbage. They used to make great products, but they have become chinese mass produced garbage. If you buy a SMOk product, it will fail on you. Their coils will burn out in a day or two. I get it. SMOK products are cheap, which is probably the reason this shop still carries them, but I have a feeling it's more an issue of this shop being out of touch with the vape industry than knowingly selling crap. I have had great experiences with everyone in this shop except for the dude that is in charge of the vape section(the guy with glasses, I don't recall his name). On multiple occasions he has made outrageous claims that make me question if he has any actual knowledge of vape products. On one occasion, after I had tried returning SMOK coils after they had started burning out in under a day, he told me that "all coils are like that now from all brands, that's how they make their money." Sorry but that is just ridiculous and is either a lie to keep making money selling shitty coils, or he just doesn't pay attention to anything in the industry. Another time I went in to ask about some RDAs and the same guy said that they don't carry any rebuildables any longer because "they aren't popular in the vape world any more". Uhh.. What? Rebuildables are literally one of the biggest products in the vape industry right now. He also has tried charging me almost double on bottles of juice that I had bought just a few days earlier from other employees. I could go on and on about this crap but I will leave it at that. I am so sad that this place has gone so downhill, as I really love supporting local shops and I really enjoyed this place at one point. read more

I have been frequenting Nor Cal Smoke shop for almost 10 years, and year after year it only keeps getting better. Between customer service and amazing selection, this is THE smoke shop for glassware, accessories, and a massive section devoted solely to eCigs and Vaping. If they don't have it in stock, they will order it for you. If you need assistance and have no idea what you are doing, they will not only help you, but treat you well no matter how basic the instructions. The staff is always eager to help you out even if you aren't ready to purchase. There has never been any pressure to buy a product in stock, and the staff would rather help you out and educate you, than sell you something you don't need just because it costs more. I really can't say enough good things about Nor Cal. When things have gone wrong (an extremely rare occurrence) the focus is on making things right as quickly as possible. While all the staff is amazing, Mike is hands down flat out amazing. Ask him anything you want to know, and he will go out of his way to help you learn. He alone would make shopping at Nor Cal a fantastic experience, and is one of the nicest people I have ever come across. I don't even know where to begin. I have been a customer here for almost 10 years now, I bought my first piece of glass here way back and these guys are practically family at this point. Nor Cal has become one of those "staple shops" not only in my life but a lot of my friends as well and with good reason too. I started going here for shisha and coals for my hookah back in 2006 when I moved to Monterey after a bad experience at the head shop across the street. Immediately I knew I had a new smoke shop. I have had the privilege of watching this amazing little smoke shop grow into what I personally think is the best smoke I have ever been in. Even back in 2006 you would walk in the door and the first thing you would notice is the impressive and unique collection of glass ranging from cheap sneak a toke to top end works of art from some of the best glass blowers in the industry. Over the years the shop has grown to include a top quality vapor bar with a massive selection of gourmet fluids & mods and even an impressive section dedicated to cigars. The staff is always warm and friendly no matter how busy they get. it doesn't matter what you are looking for as far as smoke supplies these guys probably have it and if they don't they will usually do their damnedest to get it for you, how's that for customer service?! Oh and did I mention prices? If you are looking for a great deal this is the place to go, not only will these guys help you find a piece (waterpipe, bubbler, pipe, etc) or new vape mod that you will love, they will do it within your budget. Okay so I can't say enough about this shop!! I hate when people write a story but this IS the exception!! The short and skinny of it all I am now the proud owner of a beautiful, original, unique, milk glass "tabacco" (Mmhmm) pipe.. Cannot wait to show it off!! Until one day, it was set down wrong and the dragon broke off inside. :( I knew the piece came from monterey but I had never really ventured to the area. Ended up moving down to LA and hadn't been back to Nor Cal in many years. Came up for Seca, and seen the shop on the way back from cannery. For some reason I had a thought hmm I wanna go in there. The following morning my "traveler piece" got dropped. Grrr.. So I scurry over to lighthouse where I knew I had seen the 2 smoke shops across from each other... My decision to go to Nor Cal was purely b/c of the name. Although I did think mary jane was a cool name but a little cliche for me. So I go in and man! I was like a damn kid in Fn candy store!! BY FAR HANDS DOWN THE BEST SHOP IVE BEEN IN, IN YEARS! For these reasons: Staff was off the chain awesome and nice, Shop was very welcoming, everything is set up for viewing and is not cluttered as most are. SELECTION man can say enough about, what ever you are looking for it is here i guarantee it. They have your "cookie cutter" cheap get er done glass, but i would definitley would say theryre specialty here is specialty glass. Nice selection of family guy and south park pieces.. So funny! Most of the pieces may have the same concept but are still different! Each piece is truly its own. No one will have it! Again AWESOME! So I had asked for the steam roller section, so he shows me. As Im looking I see Dragon rollers!! I thought no frickin way! So I asked are these something you carry always? it was then I learned that this shop has a private glass blower that they go through. Translation: they are there to give you quality and satisfaction, not just out for your money! We talked more and I realized this was most likely the shop where my beloved dragon roller had came from! Although he had dragon rollers there was not one that was just like mine, or for that fact one in the case that was "exactly" alike. Just makes the piece that more special. Guess Im saying this shop is for those who smoke frequent and for those who collect glass. I am so happy I went here! Now when I come to monterey the Nor Cal smoke shop will be on the list every time!
