Ladies are careless. They ABSOLUTELY know they're getting paid regardless. I tried 3. I was "lucky" enough to even have tried two of them more than once and all same results. They just pretended to have a conversation and go through the motions. all in all in my opinion, I just spend a few dollars less and just go to the GreatClips in Broad Ripple. read more

After my last barber closed her shop, I checked back with Nora, where I had gone in the past. I was looking for a barber who could still do traditional men's haircuts and was told that was still true at Nora. So, I met Trish, who was new to the shop but said she had 20 years of experience. I was not disappointed, for Trish gave me a great haircut and I plan to return. The price of a cut is $24 and they still only take cash. read more

I had been coming here for over 15 years, but I will never get a haircut again there ever. Today it was slow with all the chain barber having a 60 minute wait. I was next and the only person in line, but a second person came in after me. I was skipped over and he was asked if he was ready, but he was waiting for the lady barber working in front if him. When Jerry was done, he ignored me, not even looking at me and I was standing up ready to sit down with him, and he went in back, probably for lunch, as it was 11:45. I waited 10 more minutes, then left. I guess Jerry has too much money and doesn't need to cut much hair. Your business is flowndering with no customers. Good luck! read more

My 8 year run going this barbershop is done. They can no longer handle walk ins efficiently. No greeting when enter as everyone and if you want to see about getting a haircut you have to ask each barber separately. I can't work that hard give them business. Time for my baby's (Charlie) first haircut! He's 14 months old w/a head full of hair which was beautiful for the first year but quickly turned into a Michael-Jackson-bangs-in-the-front and mullet-in-the-back sort of style. (I know, its hard to even imagine.) We chose Nora Barbershop based on a recommendation from a friend who (like me) wanted to support a local business versus a national kiddie haircut chain. Her recommendations are always on point -- this place was perfect! Things I loved about Nora Barbershop: -Its been around for 55+ years. -No appointment needed! Just walk in. Call ahead if you'd like and ask about the wait time. -Good old fashioney barber chairs w/booster seats for little ones. Some parents opt to hold the kid, but we stood next to him while the barbe worked his magic and he did fine! -We paid $16 for a kids cut (comparable to Cookie Cutters) -They have quiet clippers and they do quick work! Charlie didn't freak out at all! -Tanner (the barber in the first chair on the right) has an 11 month old -The other folks who were in there were really laid back and friendly and one customer even offered to take a family picture for us. Folks were friendly! I like that. :) ...but the BEST part?! Charlie got an 8.5 x 11 certificate for his first haircut signed by Tanner the Barber which denotes that on the 30th day of January, 2015 Charlie graduated from babyhood when he received his first haircut. Adorable. :) They also offered to cut a lock of his hair for us to keep. (Which I suppose we'll keep along with his belly button that fell off. When you're a new parent and you're told that "Some parents like to keep the ___" you may feel obligated to save things that otherwise would completely gross you out.) The one thing I'd tweak about the experience at Nora Barbershop is that there was a great deal of hair on the floor -- but that may have been because we showed up and didn't give the barber enough time to sweep his space. I like this barber shop. It is like stepping back to the world of traditional barber shops. I didn't know it existed until one day on a trip to a neighboring store, I saw it. I drove by and saw it opened 7am on Saturdays. I went there - 7:10 and was quickly greeted by Jeff. He sat me in his chair - and gave me a great cut. You walk in there and you just feel relaxed. There is good conversation to boot - the way it is suppose to be. Later that day, I took my 4 year old son there. We've been struggling with finding a place that can give him a good cut. I couldn't find a decent barber shop for over a year when I moved into town and then I found this place before it was in Nora Plaza. I had been coming here for 20 years ever since. Covid struck and I didn't want to get my barber sick, so I forewent haircuts for a while and then went to a shop in Carmel with a bunch of younger guys. I have been missing the Nora shop ever since. I don't know if my barber (Jerry) is still working. He's seemingly been at retirement age to me since I started visiting him. Funny how we grow old together and our perspectives stay the same, eh? But I'm going back to Nora Barber Shop today and it will definitely be a homecoming. Nora Barber Shop is an icon of Indy's north side. UPDATE: Jerry IS still working!!! God bless that man. Have been a few times - hit or miss depending on who cuts your hair - some are good, some are not, some are good conversationalists, others act like they don't like talking to you.... Finally found one that gave me a good cut consistently; however, her hours are not consistent - in spite of advertising hours of 9-6 (Mon, Wed, Thurs), you never know what time she'll show up - today i was there at 9 and she still wasn't there at 9:40. I left and will NEVER go back to this place. read more

I've had 3 different people here cut my hair and 2 of the 3 I have walked away extremely satisfied. Jim is my favorite to have my hair cut. He takes the time to do it right. This was my second time coming here and having Mary cut my hair. She didn't really do what I asked and when I got home, after my shower I noticed there were hairs she missed etc. When cutting your hair short this really stands out. Not sure i'll be back after my last haircut. read more
