Coffee, cocktails, & barbershop

The baristas were very knowledgeable and kind. They made great drink suggestions. We tried the iced pineapple oat milk matcha. It was perfection.

Iced Pineapple Ube

Commissary is one of my top local faves. I can't help getting the Pineapple Ube every time. It's so refreshing and the perfect amount of sweetness! I'm also a fan of their vegan coffee cake. I've also had the chance to check out a couple Blind Tiger events, and they've had a fun, intimate vibe. I love the 'underground' feel of the space. Highly recommend!

5 stars for both the drinks and the beard trim. Beard trim - the best beard trim my husband has ever gotten. Crisp lines, hot towel, my husband looked delicious afterwards. Drinks - the pandan latte - perfection. The lattes look like craft cocktails. The pandan was nutty, vanilla bean y, espresso, comfort. The pineapple ube was also very good. Ambiance - hipster and cool. Has a speakeasy feel while being a coffee and barber shop. A must stop any time we go to Indianapolis

This place deserves 5/5 for its outstanding service and hospitality; very warm and loving people! I visited this place with my dad on my recent trip to Indianapolis. It is located in the downtown neighborhood. We tried a Pineapple Ube Latte and a Vegan Burrito. The burrito honestly tasted more like a Veggie puff but no complaints! We liked it irrespective. The Pineapple Ube Latte was an interesting combination as well. I enjoyed the slight tart pineapple flavor in my coffee along with sweet ube. Visit this place if you're in the neighborhood!

Told them to surprise me and that I like sweet creamy coffee. It's delicious! Very friendly baristas and calm cozy atmosphere

Pandan latte

The pandan latte was actually so flavorful with the pandan flavor. I was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely recommend this place, no other has made such a unique latte. Decent study space but not many tables for seating.

Cappuccino

I love stopping by commissary barista to grab a quick coffee before I get my haircut at the barber next-door. My drink is always delicious and Nick makes me look fly.

Adore this place! My first experience was a silent disco party in the evening, only to be even more impressed by the coffee shop during the day! How fun! Great space with exposed brick down one floor, makes me feel like i'm in NYC- but with a great view of Indy. My rose matcha was killeerrr

I love this cozy coffee shop, and it was one of my favorites when we lived downtown. You step down a staircase to enter, and you're immediately greeted with lots of urban charm. They always have a seasonal menu and their staples. I love trying their seasonal drinks as they never are overtly sweet. I usually take my latte to go, as the seating is limited. A lot of people like to work here so tables don't turn quickly making it hard to enjoy your drink or food without taking it to go. They usually have some bakery items, and this time I tried a bagel sandwich with sidedoor bagels.

Iced latte with oat milk

This is my favorite coffee shop in Indy! Never had a bad latte! I also HIGHLY recommend the vegan coffee cake-it's so addicting

Cafe de Olla

This coffee shop is beautiful. Great music playing and multiple people enjoying their coffees and reading or working. I had the Cafe De Olla- SO GOOD. This espresso based drink had hints of brown sugar, cinnamon and cloves. It was well balanced and delicious. I wish there were more in my mug.

Pineapple ube latte

If I lived downtown I would buy from here everyday. One side is a barbershop (never been but need to check out) the other side is the coffee shop. The space is small but still enough seating to find. It's very much brick and mortar style with open brick wall and industrial style. It's in the basement of a building kinda underground vibes. But the coffee is so creative and good! Literally everything I've tried even down to a simple vanilla latte they go the extra mile to add orange peal juice and grate some on top for a hint of orange flavor and it's quite literally life changing.

While traveling to Indianapolis for a patient advocacy forum, I looked in the mirror and yikes! I needed a haircut bad...I found Commissary Barber on Yelp. They had great reviews and a cool rock vibe for perfect for the brick accented building. Check them out on Yelp! You can reserve a cut on their app and check-in when available. Check them out.

This spot is just off the creek, with a decent parking lot and a drive through. It has a deeper warmer green than a Starbucks, and it draws a much warmer crowd too. We chatted often with the people in this shop! And we visited twice. How welcoming is that? The breakfast burrito is nothing flashy, but definitely warm gooey goodness. What sets it apart is the sauce: creamy, gently spiced, something like a seasoned mayo but not spicy. Coffee, of course, is the backbone here, and it's handled with a kind of calm precision. Our barista kindly alerted my partner and me that a warm blueberry latte would have oatmeal because of course the blueberry curdles regular milk. It was great attention to detail, and it's why we came back again and again during our week long trip. They had a special for every day! Shout out to the orange blossom latte which made me feel like a fairy amidst the city's tulips.

Dear reader,…read more Bovaconti Coffee in Fountain Square remains one of my favourite coffee shops, and we stop there whenever we come to town. It is the sort of place that feels special the moment you walk in. A lot of people rave about the beautiful space, and quite right too. The shop has a gorgeous, old-world feel in a historic Fountain Square building, plenty of seating, and a lovely outdoor area that is very dog friendly. The staff always boast a delightful disposition that makes you want to smile and enjoy the rest of your day as well. As for the coffee, I love the iced Mayan Mocha. It is like a mocha with a kick and extra flavour depth, and it is absolutely delicious. The dark chocolate, honey, cinnamon, and cayenne give it a little warmth and complexity without losing the joy of a proper iced coffee treat. They also have some really high-end pastries to choose from. I love the lemon loaf, and some of the more complex, unique pastries make it feel a bit more elevated than the average coffee stop. Overall, it is clean, beautiful, welcoming, and always worth the return visit.

It is a bit challenging to find parking but there are a few spots in front. I parked down the street and walked which is always an option. It can be quite loud so keep that in mind if you want a quieter reflection time, and maybe take it to go or sit outside. They have various food items but I absolutely LOVE their peanut butter energy balls! In fact that is why I came to this location as this is where the magic happens. They make them here and send them to other Tinker locations! They are the perfect blend of savory and a tad sweet and go super well with their coffee and/or London Fog tea. Yum! I will freely admit to buying all they had on hand, and now can enjoy them at home. Yay! It is a very busy spot so not the friendliest of staff, but assumed they were already hassled from the morning. It was a great spot to meet a friend and enjoy the patio and some tea/coffee.
