Was in town for a couple weeks before moving to LA, and needed a haircut. Found Brick & Mortar on Yelp and scheduled an appointment online. Kyle gave me a fantastic haircut that resembled what I'd get in NYC for double the price. The inside has a trading post vibe but still feels modern. Tattoos and fades galore, but there's no pretension. Everyone was super nice and the prices felt reasonable. Check out their Instagram to get a feel for what kinds of cuts they do and who is doing them. From there, you can schedule online via Square. Note that it's cash only, but there's an ATM right outside. For my skin fade and scissor trim, it was $35 (plus tip). There is also parking around the corner on Mass Ave, and at 10am on a Tuesday, I had no issue finding a spot. Highly recommend this place. Located in "The Garage", Brick & Mortar Barber Shop is a unique find in a food hall. It's got your usual trendy barbershop vibe except they do it right. I just moved to Indy so I did A LOT of research when it came to picking a new barber (Prior to moving I had the same hairstylist for about 11 years) and this one stood out the most to me based off of it's branding, decor, and location. They are appointment and cash only, but there's an ATM right outside of the shop. I made my appointment online the day before. If you're interested in a specific barber you can select them when booking your appointment. I chose a random person and went with Michelle. And let me tell you.... Michelle made me cute again! Which is great because I was starting to feel like a yeti. I would highly recommend her if you're looking for a new barber. She asked me the right questions and she was super nice too. I'll definitely be going back to her. Also, Michelle was super knowledgeable about all the products and I ended up walking out with a few new products (which I'm really happy with). If you didn't bring enough cash for products don't worry cuz you can use your card on products and merchandise there. Went in, facility was very nice, even more impressive is its part of the new "garage" food hall experience, so while I was waiting for my appt. I could stroll around a bit and plan lunch. Nick sat me down and gave me a great haircut. I am a complete idiot when it comes to my hair, you would think after 40+ years I would have a clue, but I don't. My hair isn't super complicated to cut or style. I'm a simple guy. I usually do it my self or go to one of those inexpensive chains. I'm getting married in a week, and I wanted a professional haircut. I've seen the shop at the Garage, and it always looked nice. So I made an appointment. Nick was my barber. And he was FANTASTIC. He was friendly and just the right amount of talkative. He was even able to multitask a little with his other staff as he's the boss and had to delegate some tasks to them. But it was so smooth it didn't disrupt the visit in the least. I got a haircut with a beard trim. He was conscious of the moles on my head and neck, and made sure I was down for the different lengths he was cutting to. Then he sat me back and gave me the hot towel treatment. I had never done that before. It was so freaking relaxing. I'm not much of a spa kinda guy, but I imagine that this experience would be of a similar vein. One of a kind! Downtown isn't ideal for me but this place is worth it. I was initially looking for a place to get a slight beard trim and saw that they have very reasonably priced beard and hair packages ($35). So i gave it a shot. They have a very easy to use booking system on their website. I booked with Chadwick who is an awesome guy who did a great job on my hair and beard. He also cleaned up my neck and cheeks with a straight razor. The shop is easy to get to and there is some street parking in the area. Needed a haircut on our extended vacation and this was right down the road from our AirBnB. I got an appt easily on their website. I was a handful of minutes early and happened to get paired up with the owner of the establishment. The haircut went smoothly and quickly. They have nice, high quality products to buy as well. The pricing ($35) is very reasonable especially for the quality of cut. Why it's not 5 stars because I didn't get seated and actually cutting my hair 12 minutes after my appt. I was 10 min early and ended up waiting 20+ min. I don't know what the owner was doing, I assume he's a busy man but that late to an appt isn't doing it for me. I've had my haircut by Michelle Edison and Kyle Addison-- both did an amazing job. My first visit was with Michelle, and then I learned she was soon going on maternity leave so I decided to stick with Kyle. Kyle is consistent, which is most important to me. I get a simple haircut, but I go here because I know it's going to be worthwhile every time and it's a nice way to treat myself. Main highlight for me is that they accept online appointments, so I know I can get there right on time and will only be there for 30 minutes. The hot towel afterward is nice way to finish up! First things first: this barbershop is cash only, so hit the ATM! I've been going to this place for a few months now to get my haircut, and I haven't yet been disappointed with the results. Kyle is my barber and I recommend him, although to get an appointment you must book at least a week in advance. You can do so online by going to their website - they have a very easy to navigate booking system where you click what your want (i.e. haircut, haircut/shave, etc.), the barber, and the date/time. You'll be asked for a credit card number to secure the reservation, but it doesn't charge. I also like that it sends you both email and text alerts as reminders, but not too often that it's annoying. I'll note that I came here after being VERY disappointed in Red's Barbershop. If you're trying to decide between the two, it shouldn't be a hard decision. Red's has a popular name in Indy for some reason but can't do a fade to save their lives. I'll save the rest of that review for their page lol. read more

This place gets you right in on time of easy online reservation. Nice guys. Chill vibe of place. Not too loud of crowded. The only tough thing is finding a place to park and they only take cash. Reasonably priced at $30 for a haircut. I would have given 5 stars but the place is cash only. I had to use the ATM which charges $3.50 surcharge. I wasn't sure on what I wanted, but Phil had excellent vision and recommendations, which left me beyond satisfied with my haircut. While it is cash only, they do have an ATM if needed. Started out looking for a place to get my beard trimmed. I Drive by Brick and Mortar everyday on my way to work; so I thought I'd book an appointment and give it a try. That was last Spring and I've been going back about once a month since. They do a great job with my beard and every once in awhile I'll treat myself to a beard trim AND a head shave. Worth every penny. Have booked appointments with three of the barbers, but would recommend all of them based on the cuts and work I've seen. Brandon gives exceptional haircuts! They recently raised their prices a bit due to the high demand, but it's still worth every penny. I get the feeling that no matter which barber you get though, they will get you back in business looking sharp.
