I was deeply disappointed by my recent experience with Doctor Malvehy. The interaction lacked the professionalism, attentiveness, and compassion one should reasonably expect in a medical setting. Upon entering the exam room, the doctor's verbal and physical mannerisms felt brash and uncaring. I showed him the areas requiring treatment, yet he insisted that I personally mark all of the treatment areas myself, stating, "I don't care how your legs look," before leaving the room. Regardless of intent, such a statement was inappropriate and lacked the empathy and professionalism patients deserve from a physician. When I calmly expressed that his manner seemed unkind, rather than addressing the concern or offering clarification, he cancelled my appointment altogether. Personal frustrations, if present, should never influence patient care or the overall clinical experience. I drove all the way from Reno to see Dr.M at his Sacramento office and I will say, it was well worth the drive. I have had years of dealing with vein issues in my legs and it's hard to find someone that can pretty much handle it all, from cosmetic to medical. With other doctors, it takes several visits and waiting months before anything is done. With Dr. M, my visit was efficient and highly productive. He listened very well and was extremely patient with all of my questions and concerns. I also noticed that he is just a nice human being that cares about his patients of all walks of life. I saw Dr. Malvehy for varicose vein treatment in my legs at his Sacramento location. He is certainly the rock star of this treatment! He say he has literally done thousands and it shows. He plays music and tells you what is is doing while he is working, and the procedure itself was much less uncomfortable than I imagined (and took less than 40 minutes). He explained the insurance coverage at my consult visit, and asked if I had any questions. I appreciate the lack of down time and being able to drive oneself to and from appointments. Being a physician myself, I was appalled by Dr. Malvehy's communication style and behavior during my wife's consultation today. He entered the room and without saying hallo to either my wife or me, started the consultation in a sharp temper and tone. When my wife told him that both legs needed treatment for superficial spider veins, he emphasized twice that this was cosmetic and "I don't care how your legs look". He insisted that she mark all the prospective treatment areas herself and left the room his physician time apparently too valuable to do this task together with the patient. Upon his return my wife confronted him about his attitude and he offered no apology, but cancelled the treatment session. This was all around an unpleasant interaction and Dr. Malvehy could benefit from some patient communication training. read more

Dr Malvey is a fraudster. He very clearly lied to me about the treatment I was to receive, which was to be "unlimited" until the facial veins were resolved. I paid him in full for this service at this first visit. I had one more visit a month later- (a total of two visits within two months). At the conclusion of our second visit, and seeing the situation was unresolved, he clearly told me, "If needed, call for another appointment in December, but do so before the holidays." When the veins remained prominent, I called for an appointment. Dr. Malvey responded to my call to make another appointment by blocking my number. About a week later hethen called me and told me, "Do not come back." When I asked him why, he hung up. I contacted the Better Business Bureau. They contacted him twice, but he never replied. The California Attorney General's office suggested I contact the police to open a fraud case, which is my next step. read more

Such a frustrating and disappointing experience. During my consultation this doctor explained one treatment option, but when I showed up for the procedure, he performed a different treatment and then tried to blame it on me by saying I misunderstood him. That is simply not true. I had the paper that he gave me during consultation where he specifically highlighted another treatment for me. Later that same day, I sent him a photo of the paper and asked for clarification. He never responded to my concern, and only said that his number was for emergencies only. Instead of clarification that I was expecting, his assistant called the next day to say that he was no longer comfortable providing further services to me. I never got an honest and clear explanation. He calls himself the best vein doctor, but my experience was nowhere near that. Please don't get fooled and stay away from this practice. I had cosmetic spider veins on both my legs. I was mainly bothered with those on the front of both my thighs. I saw Dr. Malvehy in late May and he treated several veins all over both my legs on the same day. I found Dr. Malvehy and his staff very pleasant and professional and his office was very clean and comfortable. I saw immediate results and Dr. Malvehy told me that if the spider veins needed re-treatment in the next few months, he would re-treat those areas at no additional cost. He also said that over the next several years, I may get spider veins in other areas as I am prone to develop them. It has been over a month now and I am very happy with the results of this treatment. Also, I found the cost very reasonable. I saw Dr M recently for a discolored vein along my temple area. Dr said it was untreatable .. no hope .. but what made it worse during my visit he made me feel uncomfortable bringing up other issues not related pertaining to other parts of my face and took unnecessary full face photo ..?? not professional when he went on to say all I could do was change my hairstyle !! Very insensitive comments and ... I left the office upset inside... I called the office the next day to ask for a refund as I did not appreciate the unnecessary comments on my face instead of the matter at hand. My request for a refund was denied as Dr said he gave me a "consultation" as I asked. Consult was a joke .... What a waste of $100 ! Office personnel make you pay for your visit when you walk in so if you are unhappy too bad ! Called my credit card company but unfortunately if it's for an "in person" service vs online .. I have had spider vein issues all my adult life and have used different procedures to address them. Dr M and his staff were great to work with. They answered all my questions, provided information on the process with no pressure. I have looked at other procedures over the years where there was hard core pressure to comment before leaving. I had my veins done MANY, many years ago and I wasn't very impressed. I decided I'd forever have to look at my spider veins. However recently I thought I'd give it one more last shot since I was so disappointed in how my legs looked. Well, I went to a different clinic and did two out of three treatments, each a month apart. After the second one, and a week before the final third one, I just decided to cancel the app't since there had been virtually 5% improvement so far and I couldn't see that one more treatment would make any difference. I heard about East Bay Vein and went to see them; I wish I had gone there first. My initial visit was for a consultation but we discussed it and Dr. felt he could give me good improvement and could do it right then. I decided to go ahead and am so very happy I did. His one treatment gave more results than the two at the other clinic. It was less expensive than the money I'd already invested at the other clinic as well. He and his staff were informative, explained everything, etc. I remain very happy with the results and it came out far better than I was hoping for. There was a follow-up visit as well, included in the initial price I had already paid ... when I went for that, he felt he could touch-up some areas and did so. Again, all included in my initial payment. I would not hesitate to return to this office should I need any more care, but I can't imagine I would need it for several years, if at all. Dr Malvehy and his staff Maritza and Daniella are absolutely amazing. I had long standing issues with varicose veins and leaky veins due to previous injuries causing me pain and discomfort. Dr Malvehy and his teams repaired the issues in both legs over two days. He explained everything to me as he proceeded. I did not experience any pain during the procedure and slight pain afterwards. After one day all of my knee pain is gone and my legs are better than before. He contacted me the day after both procedures to check on me. My experience with Dr M wasn't very good. He indicated to me that he could solve the swelling in my legs with laser ablation of the veins. After ablations were performed on both legs, I experienced pain and high amount of swelling. Dr M indicated that the swelling was my body working to absorb the closed veins. However, not all of the veins that were supposed to be closed were closed. Dr M performed a second round of laser ablations on both legs. The swelling persisted. Dr M performed ultrasounds and indicated that there was no problem. Wanting a second opinion, I had ultrasounds performed at Stanford health clinics. The Stanford ultrasounds revealed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) on both legs and I was immediately put on blood thinners. I had an ultrasound done on both legs at Stanford prior to the laser ablation surgery as well and the Stanford ultrasounds from before the procedure did not indicate any sign of DVT. Had I not had the Stanford ultrasounds completed, the DVT may have dislodged. It appears that 1 of 3 people die when a clot breaks free in the deep vein system. read more

I've had my spider veins treated over the last 30!years with perfect long lasting results with OTHER plastic surgeons... A few days after he treated my spider veins for the second time... NOT only did my original spider veins not go away...... his injections caused 20 times more at the site..... I just saw Dr. M. for the first time to treat some spider veins I was having. I was a little nervous because a friend of mine had hers treated with a different doctor and said it was extremely painful. After reading all the reviews on the web I decided to go to East Bay Vein. Dr. M. really did go out of his way to make me as comfortable as possible. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought. He's also really funny, which helps when you're being injected. Very rude staff and bad customer service. My mom had her appointment set and we even got a confirmation call a day before. When we got to the office we were told we had cancel the appointment. I clearly told them I never call to cancel I even showed them the voicemail and they didn't even care. Eventually, they took us inside the room at this point the two assistants looked annoyed specially one of them, not the one who greets you she was okay, but the other lady she had attitude and she had a rude tone towards us. I understand she probably had a long day and she wasn't expecting another treatment, but that doesn't give her the right to treat us the way we she treated us. OMG, I am so happy to have found Dr. Malvehy!!! I have lived with the pain and ugliness of quite large varicose veins for decades!!! In one sense, I'm glad I waited because the technology is so much more advanced and Dr. M is on top of all the latest discoveries regarding veins. Three weeks ago I had my first leg done and it is already looking so good, although he said the total results would be seen within 3 months. I had a consultation with Dr. M. yesterday. I was fairly nervous about having a varicose vein on my calf treated so I can wear shorts again without embarrassment. He immediately put me at ease. He was friendly and funny, but also acted in a highly professional manner. He did a thorough evaluation and found the cause to be a faulty valve above my knee. I watched the screen during the sonogram and he pointed out the dysfunctional valve and described what was happening to cause the varicose on my lower leg. He described exactly what the treatment would involve. He would use a laser to cauterize the faulty valve and inject a solution into the bulging vein on my calf that would dry the old blood and the vein would disappear over time. I felt so confident in him that I asked to have the procedure done right away. During treatment, he guided me through every step of the process and I experienced only minimum pain. It's obvious that he's highly skilled at his profession. I was also impressed with his staff. They were very well organized and friendly. I was made to feel comfortable at all times and given thorough post instructions. The cost options were also explained to me in detail. As far as pain the next day, so far so good. I was a moderately sore this morning, but after a shower and walking around, it just feels a little tender, like a bruise along the area that had the laser. I highly recommend Dr. M!!! read more
