Good friendly service. Breakfast foods are made to order. It's clean and inviting. Nice and warm when it cold out and cool when it's warm out.

From the moment we arrived, our waitress seemed in no hurry and was forgetful to say the least. It took multiple requests just to get a kids' menu, and our drinks sat empty for nearly 30+minutes. She never cleared our table of bread, salad, or soup plates, so we ended up stacking them on the concrete wall beside us as we finished each course--simply because we couldn't stand the clutter anymore. About 10 minutes before the main course was served, she returned to tell me they had run out of filets and asked what I'd like instead. I switched to a ribeye. Our food finally arrived around 8:30, even though we were seated at 6:45--an hour and forty-five minutes later. During that time, I spoke with Leroy, the owner, more than I did with our waitress the entire evening. To top it off, she added an automatic 20% gratuity for our table of seven--four adults and three children. We're generous tippers, but jt was blatantly obvious she was coasting through the night knowing the tip was guaranteed. When the ribeye finally arrived, it was one of the toughest cuts I've ever been served--full of tendons and gristle, and certainly not worth the $40+ price tag. Honestly, I could have picked up a pack of two better ribeyes at Walmart for the price I paid for the one I didn't even eat tonight. When I mentioned my disappointment with the steak, she seemed unfazed. The only redeeming parts of the evening were the view, a cup of soup, and the vanilla crème brûlée. I made an effort to express my disappointment before leaving with zero effort on her part to engage in a solution. So I tried calling on the way home to speak with someone--no answer. So here we are..... our entire table left disappointed! It was especially embarrassing after I'd talked the place up so much--only to end the night with a $320 bill and a thoroughly underwhelming experience.

Waited long enough to flag down staff to ask for my waitress. Another while till I could order. No heads up on food delays, no more coffee, no apologies for 26 minutes. Finally offered coffee & asked for ETA. No apology, just "we're busy - it'll be anothet 30 minutes." NOPE. At counter to pay for the coffee, the intellectually challenged gal struggled to make coin change & futzed around with items while I stood, jaw on the floor. She asked if all was ok, and my reply that no - I was never served (+my ticket with the cancelled order was in her hand) didn't sink in. She rang my order and gave me the full amount as due. I walked her thru the facts again, and finally she charged me for only the coffee ... not having a clue that it should have been comped for my serious inconvenience and frustration. By then, my hypoglycemia was nearing critical. It was not a good visit.

The server was extremely friendly throughout the entire meal. There is quite a selection to choose from but it isn't overwhelming. I settled on the Hay Stack because I wanted biscuits and gravy and eggs. I would have preferred something besides sausage, but I didn't ask about a substitution. (Suggestion: Think about making this customizable on the menu with meat and potato options. I would love to have done this with ham and home fries instead of sausage and hash browns.) I also ordered a side of grits. While not an issue for me since I can season my food myself, I did end up adding salt to both dishes and pepper to the grits. The inside of the building is very cozy and the place was full of locals when I arrived. It stayed busy through my time there. There were specials on the menu board as well. Overall, this was a good place with good food and excellent service, and I have no reservations about recommending this business if you are looking for a breakfast nook in Mountain Home.

This cozy spot is everything you want in a small-town café--warm, welcoming, and filled with the kind of smells that make you wish biscuits counted as a food group (and here, they just might). Housed in what was once the town's original newspaper office, the café beautifully blends history with hospitality. While you wait for your food, you can browse vintage photos and clippings that tell the story of Calico Rock's past--think of it as breakfast with a side of nostalgia. Now let's talk food--specifically the biscuits and gravy. Mercy. Fluffy, golden biscuits smothered in rich, peppery gravy that's clearly made with love (and maybe a bit of magic). It's the kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The rest of the menu is solid comfort food done right--generous portions, great flavor, and prices that'll make your wallet just as happy as your stomach. Add to that a staff that treats you like family (the kind you actually want to see), and you've got yourself a true small-town treasure. If you're passing through Calico Rock--or heck, even remotely nearby--make sure to stop in. The Printing Press Café isn't just a meal, it's an experience with heart, history, and heavenly gravy.
