It'sa chain, and I have to stretch a bit holding places as such to the same covenant as restos launched by a chef, a veteran restauranteur, or an ethnic family who knows the ropes. Chains are usually ruled by their finance departments, and everyone knows nothing kills a restaurant's menu like an accountant. The tolerance on sushi and ramen is dynamic. As long as the fish wasn't spoiled, I've never had really bad sushi or ramen. I've had both that were not great, but ultimately edible (meaning it was better than going to McDonalds). In 1964, Justice Potter Stewart famously said "I know porn when I see it". And I know a chain restaurant Sushi menu when I see it. Subsequently, Chain restaurant Sushi is recognizable. Better than "Supermarket" Sushi, but not the same as a serious Sushi joint. I had a non-interesting Maki roll, one order of run-of-the mill Gyoza, and a "Ramen" wot had shrimps in it. All decent, but not championship. Not cheap, either. The most distinctive thing (and not exactly a positive thing) was the square-ish soft drink glasses. Pretty to look at , but they didn't hold enough drink to last through the meal. As I was a solitary diner, I was seated in an empty section, thus not being in the normal path of the server who seemed more interested in chatting with the Sushi "Chef", than paying attention to my empty glass. Had some pretty great sushi in Oswego that is better than expected. It looks like a corporate chain alongside a few others to be honest. Nori Sushi & Grill has a few locations. A pretty okay menu with lots to choose from. The prices are okay and they have specials going on a lot. Came here at lunch and it was actually busy. It's got more than enough of tables even though there weren't that many people in there to get food. They're actually pretty highly ranked in quality. A lot of rolls to choose from. It's about $5 to get the Cucumber Roll. A good one. This is filled with lots of shredded cucumbers and of course rice but falls apart while eating this. It's about $5.75 to get the Vegetable Roll. This one is even better with asparagus, avocado, and cucumbers and it's more filling stuff. Great place to come especially at lunch. It's got a few things going on like a lunch menu to get cheaper items. There's plenty of things for vegans and vegetarians. read more

I'm not sure what it is about some Hibachi or KBBQ-style restaurants, but they often have a strong sewer-gas type smell, and unfortunately that was the first thing we noticed when we walked through the door here. We even debated leaving because of it. I'm not sure if it's related to the specialized grills or ventilation systems these places use, but the smell was pretty rancid and definitely off-putting. Instead, we decided to push past it and give the place a chance since the menu looked promising. Before getting into the food and the negatives, I do want to say a few positives. Our server was very kind and attentive, the interior of the building is really nice, and the presentation of the dishes is thoughtful and appealing. I also really enjoyed their Jasmine green tea! That said, we all agreed the food was a bit lackluster. Nothing we had was bad, but everything felt like it was missing that extra oomph that makes you want to come back. For starters, we ordered the edamame and the seaweed salad. The edamame was great--large, meaty pods with chunky salt that seasoned them perfectly. The seaweed salad, however, needed to be mixed. At first it tasted pretty bland, but once we got toward the bottom we realized the flavoring had settled there. I also want to mention that the boat it was served on was really sticky, which honestly grossed me out a bit. I will say that the mushroom soup and salad (specifically the ginger dressing) were enjoyable. We wanted to try a variety of items, so we ordered three sushi rolls (spider maki, fancy roll, and salmon dream) along with the scallop teriyaki. Out of the three rolls, the fancy roll stood out the most, but even that wasn't anything special that I'd go back for. The other two were pretty mid. I've definitely had better, and I know I can get better down the road at Sakamoto. The scallop teriyaki was decent. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, and some of the scallops were as well. The rice portion was huge, but unfortunately it was very bland and pretty disappointing. We love mochi, so we were excited to see it on the menu and ordered two green tea mochi for dessert. What came out was... surprising. It was essentially a white-washed version of mochi, cut into pieces and topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. I have never seen mochi served like this before. Even after scraping the whipped cream off, the mochi itself was pretty tasteless. Overall, I'm a bit conflicted about this place. I personally wouldn't recommend it and would suggest Sakamoto down the street instead. That said, I also wouldn't complain if someone wanted to eat here. I might consider trying the ramen at some point, but I'm probably out on the sushi and hibachi. For Oswego tastebuds, though, this place will probably do well. read more

I tried Nori Sushi for the FIRST time and immediately said "Wait... how did I miss this place all these years??" I've literally been in this area forever and somehow this spot stayed hidden from me. Location is perfect, close to everything, and the vibe? Clean, cozy, aesthetic ON POINT Small space, but it doesn't feel cramped at all. I walked in at 7:45PM expecting a crowd and a long wait, mentally preparing myself... and there was NO WAIT I said hold on now... this place is too good to be this empty. We're not about to lose a hidden gem like this!! The crab rangoon? Crispy, flavorful, did exactly what it needed to do The mango salmon roll and Oswego roll were PHENOMENAL. It was fresh, flavorful, and honestly a great price for the quality The steak tonkatsu ramen came out looking like a star: steak was tender, juicy, seasoned just right, portion was generous... but the noodles? Kinda just there ‍ like they forgot their role in the group project. Now let's talk drinks... because where are the fun options?? No boba, nothing playful, just the basics. And that sugary Fuze Tea... I'm begging for a fresh green tea moment just something to elevate the experience a little. Service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive the whole time, which I loved. The food here was so amazing. My wife had a craving for Ramen and I had the Yakisoba with the Shrimp, Steak, and Chicken. The price was super reasonable and the sauce was really good. Had the Dragon Sushi for appetizer and its one of the best sushi Ive had in a very long time. Will definitely be coming back. The waitress was super sweet and fave my daughter a balloon. read more

I've ordered from this restaurant several times, and while some items have been fine, I've had a recurring issue with the gyoza. Every time I've ordered it, the filling is good, but the outer edges/wrappers are doughy and undercooked, almost like the flour isn't fully cooked through. This has happened more than once, which is why I finally called about it. On my most recent order, the same issue happened again with the gyoza, and the crab rangoon also had a problem. The center was cooked, but the outside was soggy instead of crispy. Even the meat in ramen was undercooked when I ordered it. I was not asking for a refund for my entire order -- only for the specific appetizer items that were not properly cooked. What made the situation worse was the customer service. I spent around 20 minutes on the phone and spoke with multiple people, including a manager. At first, I was told they could give me a credit or provide the item for free next time. I explained that I didn't really want the same item again because it keeps arriving undercooked. I then asked for a refund for those specific items and was told they would issue it. When I asked for confirmation, I was told they were working on it and that I would receive it once they were able to process it. After not receiving the refund, I called again and was told they would not offer one because the manager said I had complained before about the same issue. That was frustrating because the reason I complained before is because the same item was undercooked before. I have ordered from here multiple times and have only asked for a refund twice -- both times because the food was undercooked. I understand restaurants can have off days, but repeatedly serving undercooked/doughy appetizers and then giving inconsistent information about a refund is not okay. The issue could have been handled professionally, but instead I felt dismissed after being told one thing and then another. read more

Atmosphere is cozy and the right mix of casual & refined. Food is delicious, well portioned, with nice presentation & very fairly priced. Service was friendly and attentive. Came for my first time on a Sunday night around 8:30pm and there were other families, also enjoying there plates. Would definitely recommend & will be returning. read more

Nori Sushi is a great addition to the restaurant options in Oswego. Went with a friend for lunch and had a great time. Went were greeted warmly at the door and seated right away. Even though we came at lunch time it was very quiet. The food was amazing, we both got the hibachi, and it was a huge amount of food. I got the combination steak and shrimp and the steak was cooked perfectly. We also shared a gyoza appetizer which was wonderful. I walked out full and happy. Our server was cheerful and attentive. She refilled our drinks before they got low and checked in an appropriate amount, clearing dishes quickly without hovering. She also split the check, including the appetizer, without being asked which was a great surprise. (We usually end up having to Venmo money back and forth for apps). Only one other group came in while we were eating but they seemed to be getting a lot of takeout business. I recommend coming in, the atmosphere and staff were great. The only downside was the parking situation, I hope they get so popular they can move to a larger lot quickly. A great first date spot or a girls lunch! l will return soon! read more

The food is great and fresh. They do well on take-out. Highly recommend takeout. The owner should know, however, that when we visited in person it was not a great experience. There was lipstick on a fresh tea cup we received, and the gentleman making food was belching out loud very loudly multiple times. We have not dined in since. read more

Was very excited that a Nori Sushi opened up by my house. I am a regular at the Aurora location. Got my order and was disappointed to see that they are filling their rolls with 1/2 breadcrumbs instead of fish. Pic of the spicy tuna roll I ordered. Ordered takeout as I had a craving for miso soup and sushi and was very underwhelmed. The miso had very little flavor unlike any other miso I have had. So that was very disappointing for me. The sushi rolls even though they had sauces were surprisingly bland and had no spice despite it supposedly being spicy salmon. I had also ordered mochi for dessert and they clearly don't keep them frozen like other places as they were soup after a 10 minutes drive. The entire order was disappointing and I enjoyed none of what I got. Very disappointing as I don't have a big monthly budget for eating out as is. read more

Horrible service. Mediocre food. I cannot recommend this restaurant, it's horrible. Came tonight and although there were employees looking at their cellphones everywhere I had to search for 10 minutes to get a server just to order a glass water. Things went downhill for there. The waitress forgot to deliver our appetizer, the hibachi food came out lukewarm not hot. It just wasn't pleasant. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. There are definitely better options.
