Charming country style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. Egg white omelet with mushroom, bell pepper and onion was good. Chicken corn chowder was also good. 6/2/2021 Veg omelet & potatoes was hot & fluffy. And delicious. Peanut butter cup triple chocolate cake was sooo good. read more

This should be your local stop, its easy to miss, but so worth the stop. If you like little diners that have the old school, homecooked, personal feel, this is the spot! I had the french toast and home fries, the french toast was hot, fresh, and just like my grandma made! The home fries were crip and hot as well. My girlfriend got the bacon and cheese omelette, and it was MASSIVE! The service and food was very quick, we are looking forward to coming back! read more

I like breakfast! I love quality, hot coffee better! With that being said, we had errands to run in this neck of the wooods and always eager to try new restaurants. It's a small building on main route 309 N and has been there half a century as indicated by the waitress when I asked if I could trade my cup of coffee in for a small grapefruit juice. She took it personal, mentioning in 57 years, no one has ever had issue with it. I perk organic coffee at home and their coffee tasted like soapy water, sort of conditioned water from salt tablets. The water tasted same way. She obliged with a replacement. The lone server, Lisa, was hustling through the small establishment this weekday in September. I always try a pancake plus an egg dish. And hubs always gravitates to the cheesesteak with a side. The fried potatoes quarters were previously frozen and the eggs were fluffy and good. pork roll was standard. The lone pancake was surprised fluffy The cheesesteak was flavorful and the highlight were the side of homemade pierogi from a local source. Refer to my photos. The bill was $32. Tip $20. Went all thru highschool and eating here mid-late 80's we would have great fun! And still to this day!! The hamburgers and freeman jug ice t French fries early morning breakfast before school! Skipping class or standing outback smoking or even buying cigarettes yep the days!! And til this day if and when get chance still go or pick up an order yum food and still one of the best little restaurants around anymore!!!! read more

I'm a Consultant from out of town, visiting Allentown for the first time. I was looking for a place to have breakfast and tackle some work while I was waiting for my colleague to pick me up. I was craving sausage & gravy, verified the restaurant had it, so decided to try it. My ride was taking longer than expected, so I ordered blueberry pancakes to continue to consume and not just sit there, I tipped the waitress fairly well. Once my colleague arrived, she ordered a cup of coffee and around 10 min later, the waitress came up to us and said that we've been there for too long and the manager asked that we leave. I was there close to 2 hours, we were getting ready to leave after taking a quick call. No one was waiting to get sat or other evident reason to be so rude, for that reason I'm giving this place 1 star - additionally the place does not have a regular bathroom, the restroom is a porta potty in the back, and the food is okay but not amazing read more

We were lucky enough to find this gem our way back from NC & we are so glad that we did. We were told this was the 1st day that they've opened since the Covid-19 & wow were we grateful that they were! The portions were great and absolutely delicious, it tastes like a home cooked meal with no flavor forgotten. You can definitely see why they've been in business for over 50 years. Honestly if I could have left 0 star's I would have. There food is mediocre, over priced and the establishment is very dingy. Cleanliness is definitely not a top priority for this place. The service is horrible. This old white haired lady who work's there is so busy socializing she ignores her tables. It's quite rude. I wouldn't return here for a meal again. You can definitely get better food and service just about anywhere else. read more

Stopped in to Norma J's for breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning. If you like Mom 'n Pop shops, antique stores, anything with any sort of tradition, and good food, then Norma J's is for you. Skip Dunkin', McDonald's, Wawa, and take a step back in time. Put your cell phone away and make eye contact with the kind waitresses who are eager to keep your coffee mug full. Norma J's feels old-fashioned, and in a lot of ways it is just that. Bring cash and bask in the incandescent glow. Try the biscuits and gravy with home fries. The side order of bacon was cooked perfectly. The coffee was hot and tasted great, and my mug was always topped off quickly. We ate at a diner the following morning and Norma J won on every level...service, price, food quality (and quantity), and ambiance (if you like that old-timey feel). If I'm ever back in the area I'll definitely stop in again. read more

We picked this restaurant because of the ratings and reviews. We expected a lot more than we got. We try to avoid chain restaurants when we travel so this place looked like it would be great. I had the bacon omelette with cheese and home fries. It was ok but not great. The home fries tasted like frozen potato chunks that had been deep fried. Not at all what I expected from this type of diner. The omelette was not enormous as another reviewer said - just the expected size. The bacon in it was limp. My wife had pancakes with blueberries which was also just ok - tasted like a pancake mix rather than a homemade mix. It rates 3 stars and no more. read more

Norma J's is a small little gem. It is important to know they only take cash! It is perfect for breakfast, this is a place for regulars but they welcome the new comers. When you walk in you are greeted by only a few booths and a counter. Your waitresses are always the same and are in great spirits. The amount of food you get is substantial and filling. The atmosphere is different no bright cherry paraphernalia. The walls are covered with wood paneling and nick-nacks like grandma's house. It is part of the charm. Because of the hours I work I do not get to Norma J's as often as I would like, but I do love the visit when I get the moment. read more

I grew up going to Norma J's. My parents are really good friends with the owner and I have been going with them since I was about 5 (I'm 25 now). On the outside, it looks so small and the decor on the inside isn't glamorous; however, the experience and the food is AMAZING! The people who go are regulars and a lot of the people know each other; however, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing! I absolutely love the creamed chipped beef over potatoes. Jamie always knows exactly what my family is going to order every time we come in. When we are seated, she grabs our coffee and orders our meals. I have yet to find a chipped beef as good as this. I literally crave it, when I haven't had it for awhile. My husband has gotten their omelets already and they are so big, but absolutely delicious. Every time I go there they give me fast service,cheap prices,well prepared food,and service with a smile.The only thing that IS iffy is the bathroom situation. I've eaten at Norma J's a few times but was put off by the depressing interior. It's close and convenient and although I've heard rave reviews from regulars, it's just not doing it for me. If given the option between that or the burger king less than 100 yards away, I'd choose Norma J's but it could be a little better. I'd like to see a little more life in there. read more

this place is the kind that you go for personal service.....not to be a number being buzzed on the board outside of the kitchen. The waitstaff is fun and they get to know you by name and seem to almost know what you want before you order. The breakfast food is really good (the omeltes are huge) and ya have to order the potatoes w/ onions to really make it a goodie (ok...so minus the onions are pretty good too)...if ya haven't tried it before ...there is always a first. read more
