I made an appointment for myself and three children. All four eye exams were completed and we were on our way in less than 2 hours time. This office has the Optimap to look inside your eye in lieu of getting your eyes dilated with the drops. It's a $30 surcharge and so worth it!! The staff was friendly and accommodating to our group. I wear contacts and have astigmatism so I'm still trying to find the brand that is most comfortable, and they have given me plenty of time to try as many pairs and brands as needed. I trust Massengale Eye Care clinic because I trust Dr. Masengale. We've been going to the clinic for over 23 years, and the quality of their work and the service we've received has been spot-on. Thanks to Dr. Masengale's expertise, he discovered something in my wife's left eye. He immediately referred her to a neuro-ophthalmologist, and thankfully, they found a pseudo tumor that was treated promptly, giving it a chance to disappear during treatment. Had an appointment on 12 Feb ordered glasses was told they would arrive in two weeks; no calls nothing its now the 4th of March still no glasses so called Massengale eye care they still have not arrived! So, I asked to cancel them to be told that i would need to pay 50% cancel fee even though i have not received them. Very unhappy seems deceitful practices. You know it is impressive when someone all the way in California takes the time to write a review. Dr. M is actually quite a good doctor that is being held back by his HIGHLY unprofessional front desk staff. I am not sure where in the customer service they teach you to hang up on clients, call them a liar (yes she called my dad a liar), and interrupt them in a tone not fit for a death row inmate. It makes me question whether Dr. M is checked out as it is confusing how staff behaviors can be so overlooked. Her behavior will be reported to the BBB, and anywhere else I can make it known. Dr. M, if you read these you may want to work to hire new staff who remember what Oklahoma hospitality is and who are welcoming to YOUR patients. You know, the ones that keep your business going? MAD! I have been using Doc for YEARS, but this year, someone else in his office did my exam. I told her the WHOLE WAY that it was blurry, she said it was fine and that I just had dry eyes, even made me buy eye drops. So, I picked out glasses and lenses and they arrived. Low and Behold... they are blurry. So I call, I tell them my Rx is wrong and they are blurry, as I told the girl that did the exam... I relocate in less than a week to another state. I said I just want my money back unless they can be fixed and here by Friday. They say "we don't do refunds, the insurance company holds us liable" PLEASE... VSP is a discount plan.... PLUS .... I PAID FOR A SERVICE THAT YOU DID NOT FULFILL..... I will update if they make good.... but for now.... I am ANGRY. read more

These guys are awesome! Dr. Massengale is all business, but exceptionally thorough and patient. I have Crohn's/UC and it effects my eyes. I wouldn't trust my eyes with anyone else. I went to another eye doctor last year and while he was good, Dr. Massengale is more through and has a specialist on hand to deal with special issues. They have a wide variety of glasses to choose from. The assistants helping him are also very astute and knowledgeable about the profession. They do so much! I would recommend him to anyone and have! My family members come here now. They really like this office also. New year! Use that insurance and get your eyes checked. You only have one set of eyes! read more

This might be me being a overprotective daughter. My mom has been going to Massengale for a very long time, and even my grandma went there before she passed. However I do not see the reasoning to write this on her chart, especially after checking her weight on the box as "slight". Seems unnecessary and because it's just an eye Dr. - is that comment necessary? Is my mom even SUPPOSE to be able to see her charts? Leaves room for questioning. This left my mom feeling really sad and especially someone who is on a weight loss journey. Ok. Normally I don't write reviews but this was frustrating beyond belief. I have always been told great things about this place from my friend who has been going here for years. I also like the small business feel (which is why I gave one of the stars. The other is for the girls at the front that were sweet to me). That's when it stopped. One lady (Jennifer I believe) who seemed to be having a bad day or something took me to get my eyes dialated. She said she put two many drops in my right eye but then proceeded to tell me (in so many words) that it was my fault for moving!!!!! Really!? Since when do we blame the customer? She then tried to talk her way out of it by bragging about all of her awards she has won at this place and that she is Dr. Massengales right hand man (or woman I guess). Really any place that supports this kind of attitude and rewards it will not get my business. read more

I wish I could review with a zero score. I used to love this place when it was in the old crossroads mall. Dr. Massengale at the time was an over the top Dr. in dealing with us. As soon as he moved his office to the current location he changed and the service changed. He has become very all unpersonable even though his skill and knowledge are excellent. We're the straw that broke the camels back started about 2 years ago with their billing. Every time we would go in there would be billing issues or services provided that were not covered and we not advised. This last issue is a bill sent to us in December of 2017 for services they state were rendered in June of 2016. My insurance company even states they did not show we received services at this time. read more

The building is nice on the outside and very nice on the inside. It appears clean, organized and well put together. I initially thought they were asking for unnecessary medical information and was trying to "milk me" out of money because my appointment quickly went from a simple contact lens fitting to a medical visit due to some of my answers to their questions. But Dr. Massengale took the time to explain why things were going the way they were and what the next steps were going to be. After all was said and done, I have a clearer understanding of what is going on with my vision and the necessary steps to take. They were patient, professional, and gave me a thorough eye exam. Even though he explained why, it was a bummer to not get my contact lens exam that day BUT I also got a lot of my questions answered. I will be going back for my contact lens exam. read more

Horrible service for both my wife and I. They ordered lens for me twice, and BOTH times they were scratched. My wife had an eye exam for contacts and there was only $30 remaining on insurance for lenses after the cost of their fit and follow up. Needless to say, she was not able to get lenses. They are EXTREMELY over priced and staff is difficult to work with. My wife couldn't see her computer very well with her new prescription, when she asked to go back to her previous prescription (which worked better), she was told "no, just take your glasses off when you're at your computer". read more

I just began going to Massengale Eye Care and couldn't be happier. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I have been getting annual eye exams for 20+ years and Dr. Massengale found two holes in my retina that no other Optometrist had found. The exam was very thorough and not rushed. The optician that helped with finding glasses frames and ordering my lenses was extremely nice and ready to help with anything. Everyone was very professional but still very friendly. Scheduled appointment for routine eye exam in December for a mid January appointment. They waited until the day before to contact me about my insurance company stating I was ineligible for coverage for the next day appointment. After contacting my insurance company three different times and on the phone for more than hour, they informed me that I was eligible.Massengale staff finally informed me that the doctor's policy is anyone over 40 years of age the appointment is considered a medical appointment and requires a referral from my family doctor. All that I needed was a routine eye exam. What a waste of my time. Got appointment cancelled and will NEVER try to go there again. Staff doesn't seem to know much about the doctor and his policies when talking to possible patients and the doctors policy is ridiculous!! Do not go to Massengale. Save your time and money go else! I went to my first appointment yesterday for an exam and a contact fitting. I am a new wear patient and have never worn contacts before. Although the wait time was pretty long, the staff was all very friendly and thorough. They provide excellent care, and make sure you are 100% comfortable with your contacts before you leave the office. read more

Horrible service!! I will make sure that my family and friends, co workers and my clients never go to Massengale after what happened to me! Let me tell you about these people.. Their billing department SUCKS!! New people need to be hired cus they don't know what their doing!! Im not the type of person to write bad reviews but i will for this! I have Insurance and after a visit i kept getting collection letters mailed by Massengale almost every other week. I called numerous times to give them my BCBS information and for whatever reason they never claimed my insurance and sent me to collections! Yes ruined my credit and were charging me $191 when I was only suppose to pay only a $20 copay. I wanted this removed ASAP from my credit report so I called my insurance to take care of this I payed the $20. After I paid the collection agency I WAS STILL getting mail that I owed them $20. I called them back and the lady didn't know what I was talking about. She than told me that my name was never removed from their list!! Imagine going to collections for $20 THAT I PAID!!! AGAIN!!! I was livid I was upset, I was furious! This is not good customer service. I will never go there again. I have to chose a star but I give y'all a big fat 0. read more

My appointment was at 4:00. I checked in at 3:55 then there was another patient that came in after I did with a 4:00 appointment too. While waiting, there was another patient that came in 15 minutes after I did. So now it's been 35 minutes of waiting and they come out and call the guy that came in after I did with the 4:00 appointment. Which made me angry but I was going to stick it out. Then they came out and called the guy that came in 15 minutes after I did. After waiting 55 minutes, I told them to cancel my appointment and I would go some where else. The Doctors are fine. The support staff is very unorganized. I needed to reorder contacts, this required several different people putting me on hold. Finally they decided they would need to call me back. After waiting a day, they did call me back and tell me that I could come pick up my contacts. The only problem was that they called me at 5:15 and they closed at 6:00. I told them I would rush, but could they please have my order ready because I would be pushing it to get there by 6:00. The lady on the phone assured me that this would not be a problem. I arrived at 5:58 and the doors were locked. I tried calling and the lady that I talked to before told me that they were closed and there was nothing they could do. I will be ordering my contacts on line from now on. read more

This place was very rude and corrupt. I was told at the front desk multiple times I didn't have to pay and verified with them and she double checked my insurance. Then they told me in the room I would have to pay a co-pay that didn't even match my coverage and could not explain it at all. The manager of the office was very rude and did not care for me as a patient at all. I politely asked to speak to the Dr about the whole situation and they refused and were so rude? I just wanted an explanation of my benefits compared to their "cost". Please don't go to this place and find somewhere that you are treated with dignity and respect. I cannot say thanks enough to the wonderful Dr. Massengale and his team! The same day I injured my eye, Dr. Massengale treated it with antibiotics - and my recovery was remarkable! What's more, I have been working away from home (Chicago) since May, and he and his staff made me feel right at home -- and in SUCH competent, caring hands. Dr Massengale is one of the best optimologists around, hands down. That being said, working with the ones that order my glasses was a nightmare. The first set of glasses (bi-coals) had the top part at the wrong distance as I needed these for computer and reading. Ok, lets get this changed and get another made. The next set didn't seem to be much better. Then I noticed they were perfect at a much longer distance. Telling the tech this she made a set of single vision to try out before they made another bi-focal. They worked great. I told them I wanted that prescription in the bi-focal. When they came back they were wrong and I couldn't read my computer screen with them. I, once again, returned them. Telling me that she ordered what I wanted and making me out to look like I didn't know what I was talking about. Maybe not, but I know if I can see out of a lens or not. Thinking she found the problem, she ordered yet another lens. It came back worse than the ones before. We found the perfect prescription for me but when she ordered it, it would come back wrong. I took my prescription along with the single vision glasses that worked to Lens Crafters where they verified the new lens were not made per the perscription or the lens of the glasses that did work. After a total of 6 trips to this office, I had enough of being blamed for her incompetence. I had Lens Crafters make me a new set and they are working just fine. Asked for a refund and was told she would refund my insurance company but not the $300 I paid out of pocket. "Someone has to pay for these lens." It wasn't my fault she didn't get the correct lens made (as verified at Lens Crafters), but she darn sure kept my money. I called and left two messages with, Candice, the office manager and she has never returned either call. So, excellent doctor, but the people in the glasses department are incompetent shysters who ripped me off over $300. read more

I have not been a big fan of any Optometrist. Previous bad experiences over the years with my entire family. I would chose to go to an Opthamologist instead. I really like my eye doctor, his staff however I do not. I have been going to him for a very long time. Never really had much of a problem until he moved to his new office. I decided to look for someone new. I found Massengale Eye Care. Dr. Massengale and his staff have pretty much changed my opinion of Optometrists. There is usually not much of a waiting period, if any. From the ladies up front greeting and checking you in, to the staff in the back, and the "no pressure" vision center are great. I have been "worked in" when I had a problem, appts as needed and always treated like I was the only patient there. If you have been hesitant to use an Optometrist, need a change, or just want to get another opinion, I would recommend Dr. Massengale and the staff at MassengaleEye Care. read more

This was the first time I had ever been to Massengale eye. The staff was really nice and laid back. Dr. Massengale listened to what I had to say and took my imput to the fullest. I had recently had my eyes examed in my town but had them done here just to double check. My original prescription seemed a little off but I didn't seem to notice I guess. After tweaking the prescription, my vision far beyond what I thought I could see. They have and incredible selection of frames and the best lenses money can buy. I ended up with the Oakley Rhinochasers with Crizol, Transition lenses. Yes, they have Oakley RX frames and a lot of them! They will also order them for you. For those of you with no vision insurance make sure you have deep pockets or stick to the budget stores because, they have the best and the inventory is priced accordingly.
