We were told pick up time would be 12:30. The day of pick up, we received a text at 9:55 AM stating that we had 5 minutes to get there or we would not get her until the evening. We got there at 10:05 after driving 2 hours and 20 minutes to ensure we'd be there at 12:30. We told them that we had arrived and were told that 12:30 was the pickup time and that we'd like to take her home. They refused to give her to us and told us we would have to come back at 6 PM and they did not apologize for their error and lack of communication regarding the pick up time! The lady who worked the desk didn't say much when I was there but had the nerve to text me 15 minutes after we left with our dog when I was ignored after 5 phone calls and multiple texts. This place lies about feeding your animal. We did a late drop off and early pick up, so I portioned out 4 meals for our dog and they told me they fed her 6 times. She had enough food left for one more feeding, so they skipped a mealtime and told me they fed her an extra 3 times! With what food?! I also signed a contract that we wanted 3 play times a day and they only provided her with 1 playtime a day for 3 days. This place is not trustworthy and we will NEVER board here again.

This (chilly!) morning we had a really special opportunity to tour Kentucky Equine Adoption Center…read more(KyEAC) as part of Horse Country's community-based event: Meet the Neighbors. I'm SO happy this annual program has returned post-COVID! KyEAC is the largest all-breed equine rescue in Kentucky, situated on 72 rolling acres on Catnip Hill Road in Nicholasville. Right now they have 48 horses available for adoption, with 4 more on the way, and a waitlist a mile long. At any given time they have ~50% thoroughbreds, plus wild/feral horses, and horses from the strip mines of Eastern Kentucky. As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, part of their mission is to find the perfect home and purpose for every horse - whether as therapeutic companions, trail horses, or pasture ponies. On the tour - led by Susan Powers - we learned how KyEAC operates, met all the horses and heard their stories, and were treated to a short demonstration in the arena. I was floored. The staff and volunteers at KyEAC are doing amazing work advocating and caring for our most noble and precious symbols of the Bluegrass State. No words can describe it's beauty so I won't even make an attempt at it. I've been to a lot of farms and this is by far the most gorgeous. While attending the 41st annual Kentucky Bash held at the tent area on the farm, I learned that the owners of Donamire allow Cardinal Hill to host the event on their beautiful farm as their donation. That makes me want to contribute to the Ball family all over again. I don't know if they give tours or not, but if you ever get the opportunity to attend an event here, do it! I sure would love to learn more about this beautiful part of the Bluegrass!

I've been to Donamire Farms twice in my life, both for family reunions, and it's a beautiful setting for such, where thoroughbreds run along fenced rolling Kentucky countryside, and swans float gracefully over placid waters. Horse barns, with interiors kept far more pristine than my boys' bedroom, dot the landscape. A guest house set a couple acres off the main house also lines the circuitous road that travels through the grounds. It, too, is as opulent as the main, albeit a bit smaller, but larger than any place I've ever stayed. It is all a very pleasant backdrop to seeing those I don't see often, likely not often enough.

They have a little conference room set up with pictures of history of those that have worked there and medical vices they have been over the years. We toured their surgery center where we were able to watch them perform on a colicky horse that became an emergent situation. The horses intestine when stretched out is the length of a football field. We also toured the medicine center. This is where they take care of orthopedic medical necessities and mare and goals and NICU for the babies. Our guides were friendly and nice and interacted with the kids to keep them engaged. This was so informative and a great educational visit for kids as well as adults!

He brought the kitten in with the intention of feeding it and letting it back outside -- which we did -- but the next day, we inquired about the kitten, found out it was just a friendly stray, and well, volunteered to take it in. And with that, Luna Mae became the third cat in our little animal family. She purred as we gave her a shower to wash off the dirt and fleas, and she warmed up to us quickly. We adored her. That said, we needed to get her to the vet for some shots and a check-up. We asked some friends if they had any recommendations and they pointed us here to Cleveland Animal Clinic. We met with Dr. Cleveland (and the friendly crew) and they gave Luna Mae the kitten shots she needed over four visits. Then came the time when we needed to get her fixed. This is done during select days of the week -- it is suggested the pet is dropped off when the clinic opens and picked up in the middle of the afternoon. I dropped Luna Mae off one rainy Friday. When I went to pick her up, they had an interesting story to tell me. Apparently, when the vet opened Luna with the intention of removing her uterus, there was none! They re-checked under all the fluffy fur and found the male parts..... and did what needed to be done. So.... we had a boy! We changed Luna's name to Cash. And had a pretty good laugh at that story. I was a bit disturbed later on that they didn't double-check the reproductive parts before prepping for surgery, but I guess they had just taken our word for it and overlooked the bits under the fur. (I had previously thought it was a boy, myself, but my husband said it was a girl.... go figure). I was not charged for the extra surgery, thankfully. Also, everything I've had to do was affordable and reasonably priced. I'm very happy about that. Despite the mix-up with the surgery, we're still using this clinic (and have been back already to get some medicine for a sick Luna Cash) but I prefer Dr. Barron. And we have a funny story to share!

She has stayed a loyal customer and has continued because her cats records remain there and she is up to date on everything. I am writing this review from my visit with her in May 2026. We walked in with myself, my friend and my granddaughter. First my friend approaches the counter to pay for her cats medicine. She asks the guy at counter a question and is completely ignored. She asks again and he rolls his eyes and then asks her which meds did she want the most expensive or the cheapest and my friend answered saying I want the more expensive one because I feel it works better. He went and got it and rudely comments.... Do you want a receipt. The whole time acting like he was irritated and put out by her mere presence and definitely when asked any questions. I couldn't believe the customer service there. How rude and obviously rude at that. I then asked to see the kittens. The lady said we could, but needed to wash our hands. We all obliged. We went back to see the kittens and the whole time we were back there. I felt very out of place myself. My granddaughter didn't move much at all. My friend looked and talked to the kittens. We were rushed and the guy came in and said people coming it was was time for us to go. My friend asked when the kittens would be available to adopt and was pretty much shut down when the lady said it would be when they were weaned from their mother but they would have to see if she could even be able to get one. She wasn't able to even ask for a specific one to put on hold, but then we were told they were all available except two which tells me someone put them on hold. (but that isn't the big deal here, it is just part of the visit) So we then hurried on up front. My granddaughter told me she needed to use the potty. (We are potty training, so I didn't want to make her wait and we are fast) So I explained we needed to borrow the potty and we would be on our way.... More eye rolling and a little huff and puff and faces made. I am not one to write reviews. Good or bad, but this was something that bothered me and has continued to stay mind. It bothered me to see my friend be so looked down up on in the kitten room and to be so ignored and have faces made at the counter. If I had my way. She would never step foot in there again. It was a terrible experience and the worst customer service I have seen yet this year.
