In '24 they charged me full price for my exam ignoring my VSP insurance that I had thru BCBS and so I had to fight to get a refund, then in July '25 they still charged for my visit, ignored my request for a simple lens refill, and attempted to sell me a full year's supply of what I neither need or can afford! read more

Doctors were all very nice and helpful. I enjoy the ease of location and setting appointment's.

So, I have a new job with new health benefits. I knew I was due for an eye exam, and needed to find a place that took my new insurance. I was going to go to my old eye place, but on my insurance website, it says this shop is one of their preferred locations. What is a preferred location you ask? Better discounts and more savings! I found out that Normandy has 4 different locations, but this one is closest to my home. I actually called and made an eye appointment through the Royal Oak location since they were closed that specific day. The guy was super nice and helpful on the phone, and gave me the breakdown of what to expect. I went in about a week and a half later and the whole experience was fabulous. Including the eye exam, I was in and out in about an hour. The last time I went for an exam, I swear it took closer to two hours. The optometrist was super cool and I really liked chatting with him. After I was done, I picked out my frames, and sat with a gal going over what I wanted. I got the anti glare coating (or whatever it's called) on my glasses and a few other things as well. My frames were under $200, but I got a nice discount and most of them covered due to insurance. About a week and a half later, I got a text stating that my glasses were ready for pickup. I was surprised it took the entire time I was quoted for them to get made, but it didn't bother me. Normandy is open late on Wednesdays, so I was able to stroll in after work to pick them up. There was literally no one else in the store. I tried them on and the glasses work great! My eyes feel weird since they are a stronger prescription then what I am used too. I also bought lens cleaner for $5 since I can also use it to clean my phone. Overall, I really loved how efficient and friendly the staff and process was here. I plan on going back in the future for many more eye exams as long as I am at this job with this insurance coverage. Thank you Normandy, you guys really do an excellent job! read more

The start of my appointment was great. The intake process was smooth, the technician was friendly, and Dr. C was nice. However, things took a turn afterward. I asked the eyewear consultant if they had nose pads available because I had them fall off a pair of my old glasses. The eyewear consultant needed assistance putting them on, so another staff member went to help. Unfortunately, the one who came to help ended up breaking the metal on the nose bridge. Rather than addressing the issue directly and professionally, she came out and asked, in front of everyone, if I got my glasses from the dollar store. I was shocked--who does that? Instead of taking responsibility, she deflected the blame onto the quality of the glasses. I would have appreciated it if she had just been professional about the situation. I had already been having a rough day, so I was pleased that the positive reviews seemed accurate--until that moment. I really wanted to rate this place highly like many others have, but her behavior completely ruined my experience and soured the rest of my day. I would hate to believe that my race had anything to do with my treatment, but you have to wonder. It's important for people to be mindful of the words they choose and how they handle situations like this. Unfortunately, I can't refer anyone to this place. I would not want anyone to experience the lack of professionalism that I did. It cost nothing to be kind. read more

Worst glasses experience I've had in a lifetime of buying glasses! Originally went for eye exam and bought glasses in Jan 2021. Didn't receive glasses until 3 months later. Then the pair I received had a defective left lens that kept popping out of the frames. They said they had to order a new lens from Texas. (I think that's their code word for "slow boat from China.") Still waiting for glasses to be corrected in May. Save your money this place is very expensive and has extremely bad service. read more

I've been going here for years and always thought they were great. But recently they went above and beyond. I had missed two straight appointments due to work and sick kids, but was going out of town for a week and was out of contacts. The staff scrambled and got me some samples in my prescription to get me through vacation until I could get back in. Entire staff is fantastic - highly recommend! read more

What a great place! Came here for lenses and Rachel took great care of me! She made sure I looked great before I left. Which takes a lot of work. Trust me. I really like the doctors at this place quite a bit. They are talented and professional. The problem that I have is with Rachel, the office manager. She is extremely rude and has zero customer service skills. She pretended to be nice when I ordered contacts through them, but when I had a problem with the contacts, she was rude and basically accused me of being a liar. I will not ever go back here unless she no longer works there. I guarantee her poor attitude and treatment of patients has lost them business. It's really unfortunate. read more

This is the best optical store I have ever been to. The doctor was very welcoming, very thorough, and very clear about my exam and script. During Covid, the assistants brought frames to me after I told them a bit of what I liked. They were patient and listened carefully. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses and with my insurance the final price was reasonable. These glasses are well made right in the store. It took about a week to have them ready. I would encourage anyone to go to Normandy Optical. read more

This will be the only optical store that I will use from now on. The staff is wonderful especially Rachel and Mike who I worked closely with. Rachel has mystical powers. Here's my story OMG I accidentally found this shop (now known as Normandy Optical) because the shop I was going to (Rochester Eye Center) said it was open Saturday's on both Yelp and their website. I went to REC on Saturday at 11 which was supposed to be open until 1. We got to the store and the store was closed and was the sign said the were only open some Saturday's. which Saturday's is anyone's guess. It according to my vision insurance was the only store near by that took the primer of my insurance. After looking online there was a new store which is part of the Normandy chain that takes my primer insurance but this store was not listed. Since it was only across the street we took the chance to try the store. The store had a huge selection without being cluttered. I talked to Rachel who I believe is the manager. She told us the store took our primer insurance. I had brought a Burberry frame I loved and had bought on Amazon on Black Friday for $120 (what a deal). They were able to be able put lenses in them and told me it would take a week, Rachel helped me pick out a pair of Maui Jim's aviator frame which I fell in love with. They were the first sunglasses I looked at, looked at a few other pairs but no others ones measured up to these awesome pair of sunglasses. I was told they had to send them away and the turn around would be one week. I also got an other pair of glasses because my insurance covered two frames. Rachel helped me find a pair of Calvin Klein's that differ in style from my Burberry and have a great tortoise shell look, again these were the first glasses I tried on. RACHEL HAS AN AMAZING EYE. These glasses have a two week turn around time. They did all the work with the insurance getting approval and all other paperwork, and it was done quickly. (We had to stay a little after the store hours and ALL the employees stayed until we were gone AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE). Tuesday evening at 6 I got a call from the store, thinking "oh no it's all been too good to be true," but it was Mike calling me to tell me that my Burberry glasses were ready! WHAT!!! It's only Tuesday it should be Saturday when their ready. I went today to pick them up today and Mike was there and he was helping me adjust my glasses. Rachel came back from lunch and saw there was a delivery from Maui Jim's had just been just dropped off. She opened and low and behold my sunglasses were in shipment!!!!! WAIT, WHAT AGAIN! My sunglasses were there. Mike adjusted those and Rachel gave me a backpack full of freebies and cool stuffs. Rachel told me to expect my other glasses before the weekend!!!! ***sidebar I went to the other the store on Tuesday and said "I came here Saturday and it was a some Saturday you were closed, I went to another store across the street that is also a primer store and because you don't keep regular hours, you may want to tell your dr or manager you lost $1200 because you lie about your hours" then walked out. read more

The doctor was great, but the lady who checked me in was very aggressive and rude. There was a miscommunication of the appointment time, and she greeted me with sarcasm. She kept going on and on the appointment would normally be rescheduled. You didn't have to repeat it five times, plus it was empty lol. Zero customer service skills! I will not be returning there. read more

Doctors are great.and found my glaucoma and suggested I see an opthamologist. The staff is great at helping you select attractive eyewear for YOUR face and the fit has always been super. Never have needed adjustment. They carry the coolest line of frames called Prodesign. Cant say enough but have referred four friendswho feel the same. read more

The doctors here are really great - I've seen both the father and daughter who run the practice. They are knowledgeable and friendly. The issue is the receptionist. She has dark brown, long hair and she may be Italian. She is quite rude and unfriendly. I cringe when I have to go to the counter to check in because I don't want to deal with her attitude. I wish the doctors would replace her with someone more customer-friendly. She's not helpful and when I ask her a question, she seems put out. My family almost switched eye doctors just because of this lady. This practice would get a higher rating if they had a nicer receptionist. read more
