I wish every experience with a business was like an experience at SEE in Rochester Hills. First, SEE is a Michigan owned company that was created by the former owner of D.O.C. It's a store and a brand that is committed to bringing quality, unique eyewear to the public at an affordable price. After going to SEE and wearing their glasses for 2+ years I see no reason to go to a boring mall chain ever again. Second, the Rochester Hills store is phenomenal. The employees here love their job and they treat their customers well. They remember you even if you haven't been there in a year or two and they remember the kind of glasses they sold you. Furthermore, they give you honest advice and opinions when choosing eyewear without being pushy. They know you need glasses and they want you to wear the best for your face and your vision. They will sell you an inexpensive pair if that's what you love and looks best on you. They offer great assistance when choosing eyewear and will help you for hours when picking out a pair of glasses. The eye exams are inexpensive. I had a quick helpful eye exam and then proceded to buy some amazing frames. I just returned today to buy two more sets of frames because they are so amazing. Dave is the absolute man. I had such a great experience with this See. I have been getting my glasses and my eye exams at See for 6+ years and this is the first time visiting this location because it is an hour from home but the staff here makes it so worth the drive (and gas $$$). I had an eye exam here and the Doctor was so sweet and kind. She explained more to me than any other eye exam I've had and I felt very comfortable. Came back here for some new glasses after too long with the same ones, and it was an AMAZING experience. I received help choosing the right style frame for my face and it took no time at all. Once I'd picked out my two pairs (one regular pair and one pair of sunnies), I was offered some super generous discounts, and both pairs ended up being very affordable for me! I've been to SEE a few times for exam and glasses, but this was the last time. The optician was good, the associate I worked with was really nice and helpful, but the manager(?)/associate, Dave, was horrendous. He was jumping all over the place like he was on speed, butting in on the other associate helping me, he was acting like a teenage boy on too much caffeine. I was trying to give the associate my information at the desk and Dave interrupted trying to high five the associate for how much money they were making. It was so unprofessional. They also didn't take my insurance, but never told me, just said they'd give me 30% off. What sealed it for me, was when I turned my back on Dave and my associate to look at some frames, I quickly turned around to ask a question only to see Dave making faces and hand motions about the size of my body. The associate looked just as appalled as myself. This is totally unacceptable. It all just happened a few hours ago, and I'm sick thinking about it. Apparently Dave only treats women at SEE Rochester well if they are thin, pretty and young. Don't spend your money here if you value being treated with dignity. read more

I swear See is my favorite store to go to because you can try on so many different looks without removing a single piece of clothing. . . though sometimes you just have to. Already I have no idea where this review is going? . . . I was first introduced to See when my friend Madelyn was looking for new frames about 3 years ago. At that time I had never had an eye test but I fell in love with a pair of frames that prompted me to take advantage of the $29.00 student exam. I learned that I have a slight astigmatism and that my eyesight could be better. For some reason I didn't end up ordering the frames. . . I kind of kick myself still for that. But what was amazing is that I made friends with all of the stores fabulous workers. I love places that know you by your first name and remember details about you even if you don't buy things from them! They will also teach you what frames to avoid or why some work better than others, i.e. wearing white plastic frames and smiling shows off how coffee stained my teeth really are (I know, hot, right?). See stocks an eclectic assortment of glasses including metal and plastic frames. You will find them in every color and even some with rhinestones! There is even a sale rack. This is why I love this place. Fast forward to this year, where I have been to visit See many times to keep up on their new looks and hot styles and I really fell in love with a pair of frames. They are round, green, magic glasses that I believe I am the only one out there that can rock them--I swear I'm not conceited. I ended up having to get my eyes checked again because it had been two years and because their doctors' schedules I ended up getting my eyes checked at Somerset (their doc is in Thursday afternoon). I finally returned to See and was able to order my frames just in the knick of time! Because their stock is always rotating I was this close to losing out on them. Within a week they were ready for me to pick up and share them with the world. I heart See. I don't need to wear glasses but I love that they make everything clearer. I think See has the best assortment for original looking frames at low prices. I think is fabulous they send out coupons to their customers for you and a friend to use. I actually am really anxious about ordering another pair of glasses from See. If you need glasses, sunglasses, opera glasses, or even a monocle (well maybe not?) please visit See in Rochester. I promise a first rate experience and then you have the bonus of walking across the street to Maggie (Margaret) Moo's for an ice cream cone. Delicious. Worst experience I've ever had with my glasses!!! First, I would like to say I've worn glasses/contacts for years and that I own a retail business that provides excellent customer service and I understand that sometimes not everyone is happy but there is always a way to solve a problem or appease an unhappy person without ever being rude. I've been to a couple different optometrists and offices around where I live. I found a great doctor but the frame selection is not too good, so on a recommendation, I went to S.E.E. in Somerset Mall, they were awesome. My glasses were perfect and they were done relatively quickly. I've moved a little farther away from there now so this year when my puppy ate my glasses and I needed to replace them, I went to S.E.E. in the village in Rochester Hills. My first visit was very friendly and quick since I didn't even need new frames, just replacing my chewed up pair. I was told it would be about two weeks for my new glasses to arrive, no big deal, that's about how long it takes anywhere. Almost 3 weeks went by...no phone call, no contact, nothing. So I called to see how it was going. I was told they would check the status and get right back to me later that day or the next. Nothing, AGAIN! So again, I called to see what was going on and was given little information but was told they were in progress and should be done very soon. Almost 2 weeks later (so now we're just under 5 weeks) I finally received a phone call that they were finished and I could pick them up. Being a little annoyed and desperate to have my glasses back since I was sick of wearing my contacts so much and can't see without one or the other, headed straight down to pick them up. The girl at the desk was very very friendly and very nice when I picked up the glasses but hardly apologetic that it took so long. I explained to her that I wasn't even really bothered by the time that it took to get the glasses so much as I was bothered by the pure lack of communication and customer service from their store. She was very polite and said she would relay the message to her manager since she didn't have the authority to make any decisions which I completely understood. After being told that I was all set, I walked out the door, got in my car and left. About 3 minutes later, I received a call from SEE to let me know that they made a mistake and had a small remaining balance for my glasses which I paid. I have no problem paying for things I buy, but get it together! The lack of communication and organization is horrible! The next day I received a call from a female manager to let me know that she had heard about my complaint. I began through the timeline and story with her and politely informed her of my displeasure with the whole process. Expecting her to at least be apologetic, I was floored when she responded with nothing but excuses, a rude tone and actually at one point she literally had nothing to say in response to on of my complaints, with not so much one mention of an apology for the inconvenience. Again, I politely informed her that I was very unhappy with the service I received and also informed her that I would never visit S.E.E. ever again. read more

In addition to all things excellent in the service and frame departments, I also had my eye exam there since I no longer have vision insurance and their prices were pretty competitive ($99 for a contact lens exam.) I was ecstatic that the doc there chooses to do a different glaucoma test than the puff of air (contraption from hell.) They were also very understanding when it seemed like the universe was trying to keep me from going back in for my contact lens check. Now, just a hair over a week later my contact lens and frame order are in the store awaiting my visit to pick them up. And unlike all those awful frames I had in the 80s/90s, I will still happily where my old SEE frames because they are still cool (and not just the pair I had to settle for because they were all I could afford.) The second I walked into See I realized every other optometrist I've been to is doing it wrong. First- the service. They are amazing there. Alex walked me around the store, helped me try on glasses, suggested ones to try, and helped me narrow down my thousand choices I'd picked out to the one perfect pair! They were sweet, patient, and super helpful. They even squeezed me in for an eye exam without an appointment, and helped me open a See card to pay for my glasses monthly. Second- the selection. If you aren't boring and don't want to wear glasses that make you look like you are; come here! Yeah they've got some classic shapes and colors of course, but I've never seen so many fun and funky glasses! They have anything from hot pink to classic tortoise shell, to frosted purple, turquoise, you name it. If you want your glasses to be a fashion accessory, not just vision improvements, this is your place. And third- the optometrist. She was so super nice and really easy to talk to. Answered any questions I had and walked me through the whole exam. Probably the best experience I've had at the eye doctor. All I know is I won't be going anywhere else for my vision needs from here on out! read more

I made an appointment at SEE in Rochester Hills. My 2nd time going to that location. The very First SEE I ever been in Started in Rochester in the previous location at The Village of Rochester Hills. i have been a SEE customer ever sense.i also have been to SEE IN Birmingham & Troy. Mind you in All the locations i have ended up purchasing glasses! The arm of my Favorite pair of glasses had broken off, such a bummer. Anyway, my appointment was with Dave. I arrived at SEE, Dave was Ready with a Smile in His Eyes,Mask covering his nose & mouth,opened the door and in i went. Greeting me with Excitement and Friendliness, like we have been friends for years.I Knew I was going to have Fun! He assured me Everything in the Store has been Wiped Down and Cleaned. I took a seat and we started. Prior to my appointment I had called spoke with Dave and he had ordered me the same pair of glasses but in a different colors as I expressed how much I liked the ones I currently have. We started from there. As I was certain the ones that he got in I was going to purchase one of them. Except, I got up as I often do, and started looking around the store like a kid in a candy shop. Tried on different pairs of glasses and BOOM! I found a an entirely different pair & color.And now I'm changing my whole game plan LOL! Dave gave me his expert opinion and I wholeheartedly agreed.I am Switching to a New Look. I couldn't stop there,now,I'm looking at Sunglasses,LOL! Anyway getting to my point, I had such a Great Experience with Dave at SEE .He knows his profession very well. I ordered a pair of glasses and after receiving them, they just did not work for me. I went back in to exchange them and they really too the time making sure I got the pair that was perfect for me! They were very attentive, and truly helpful in my decision. When I came to pick up the new glasses, they made a tiny adjustment to them and they were perfect! My eyeglasses are spot on and I have been wearing them regularly. I didn't think that I would wear them as much as I have been, since I have been wearing contacts mostly for the past twenty years. But, I have to admit that this pair of glasses is one of the coolest pair that I have had in a long time. I really like them. They feel good on, and my contacts just haven't been worn nearly as much as they used to. But ... the sunglasses I bought the same day as the eyeglasses at SEE ... not so much. I made my purchase back in July, 2015. First, it took weeks and weeks to get both pairs. Well, it turns out - they just didn't call me when the items came in. I called a couple of times, and, aha! Yes! Well, there they are! Hmmm. That didn't sit well with me. Second, the sunglasses were not adjusted very well to my face. They slid off every few seconds. The first employee, a very young woman who I just didn't connect with and didn't seem to have much experience shuffled me along, talked over me constantly, seemed to not listen to me that I wasn't comfortable with the way the frames fit. I left with sunglasses not fitting right, and in two weeks I couldn't take it any more. So, I returned back with the sunglasses. This time a clearly experienced male employee helped me, but then switched out the frame that was on display - I kind of didn't like that. He adjusted the frame to what we both thought would be a firm fit. He explained that the heat of the sun outside caused the frames to loosen and slide. Okay. Well, now they are way too tight and extremely uncomfortable and I don't wear them. I could bring them in to be adjusted, but I haven't had the chance. I know, I know, in six months, I haven't had the chance, seriously? Yeah, that's my life. Yes, I will come back for some new eyewear ... the frames are awesome. No, the prices are not super cheap as you will be led to believe. But they styles are so cool, you will be willing to buy a second or third pair. However, I will definitely be careful about which sales associate I work with. read more
