I called Norms garage service 1 Nov 2024 and asked if they offer a military discount? They said yes, and I paid with my credit card for 2 springs to be replaced on my garage door. My fiancé and i came home from vacation to a non working garage door. I googled a few companies and chose Norms to call first based on reviews. They were able to come the next day for a service call. The representative they sent looked at our motor and very quickly let us know that we needed to install a brand new motor along with openers, key pad, etc. The quote for everything was 600+ dollars and we felt we had no other option than to move forward. We had a family member come take a second look just to make sure before we invested and he tightened a few wires in 10 minutes and the motor now works perfectly. I feel like the rep they sent took advantage of us and was trying to sell us a new motor when it could have been easily fixed on the service call. We were very dissatisfied and won't be return customers when we need garage door service again. read more

I had the best experience with Norm's Door Service. I was looking to have a new garage door opener installed, and they were both affordable and could get to my house quickly. I called on a Monday and they were out, installing the opener on Tuesday the very next day! Their tech called to let me know they were heading out to my place so I'd know when to expect them. He was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond. He made sure to program my remotes, teach me how to add additional products, and how to disengage the door in the event of a power outage. Overall, Norms did a good job. We broke our garage and they came out and got it working at no price. Which led us to choosing to go with them to get new doors. There were a couple hiccups. Needed to readjust doors and get new trim to fit around the doors but the trim wasn't their fault. I think if there was more upfront communication on those two issues they would have gotten 5 stars. I moved into an older home that had several Norm's Door Service Stickers fixed to the wall. I was having trouble with programming a remote to one of my garage doors. I called to see if they could help it was at 4:30 on a Friday when I reached out. To my surprise, at 4:45pm Friday afternoon Mike called me back and attempted to help me with the process. He was very courteous and polite but I had the wrong type of remote opener. He was able to tell me when the previous owners had last had the doors serviced and set up a service call for preventative maintenance the following Monday. This was at my request, he was not pushy or upselling at all. First thing Monday morning, the technician called to let me know he was on his way. He brought me a new remote that would work with both of my units, checked the springs, the tracks and balance of both doors. Everything about the experience was positive and the service call for the preventative maintenance was reasonably priced and gave me great peace of mind. I have attempted 3 times to obtain a copy of the maintenance work done on my 2 garage doors but to no luck. I called twice to make my request. I was told they would get back to me. You guessed it; they never called back!! So I went to Norm's office directly. They gave flimsy excuse of changing computer systems, and I was one of the unlucky ones that got caught up in the system. Had a broken spring. They came out same day and attached a device to keep it working, until a new spring was ordered (heavier spring for a heavier door). A few days ago, the same spring broke again (opposite side), and door slid partly off track. Called them again, and Dan sent someone out within 30 mins. They returned today and installed new springs, tuned it up, and gave lots of advice for longevity. VERY SATISFIED. Dan, again, thanks. Your guys are friendly, polite, knowledgeable and skilled. Very disappointed with Norm's. Called them on a Sunday because my door wouldnt close. Power surge reset the door opener. It went off the track and the wire got all tangled up. Never showed up. Of course your garage door breaks at the most inconvenient times...which was my case. It was an early weekday morning on my way out to an appt. I pressed the button, the the motor ran but nothing happened. Then I tried opening it manually but with no luck. Thankfully I called Norm's door service! Realizing that they are very popular and a busy company I was assuming they would say they could be out the next day at best. To my surprise they were out to fix my door in 2 hours. We received an estimate for a replacement garage door and were prepared to move forward. However, I noticed in the fine print of their contract it states the buyer is responsible for any needed permits. I reached out to both Norm's Door Service and the Douglas County permit office at the same time asking if a permit would be needed. In short, via email Norm's Door Service said the permit is only needed if the scope of work requires it (very cryptic) and over the phone said a garage door replacement does not require a permit. Per the Douglas County permit office, a permit is required and should be requested by the contractor or seller. The reason being, the permit applicant is responsible for making sure all work is completed to code. I reached back out to Norm's Door Service with my concern on the permit issue and their contract. Was told I was the only person who has questioned this my representative's 10-years of service with the company. I was also told it would be looked into and never heard back from anyone. We did not move forward with the purchase (obviously). Buyer beware. Read the contract. read more

Called on a Saturday. Got told it's a bunch extra for weekends. That's fine. I want my garage fixed. Was told someone would be there between 12 and 3. 3:00 comes and goes and nobody shows. Call their number and there is no answer. So, no one actually showed after making an appointment. Could have called another company had I known they wouldn't show, but instead I'm left with a still broken garage door, and several hours of wasted time waiting for them to show up. The initial gentleman who came out for the estimate was gracious and well mannered and went with the recommendation he suggested. They met the appointment time but the gentleman who installed it was rude and talked over my wife. The features and functions were not explained to her satisfaction. We than began experiencing phantom open and closes and yes in the middle of the night which also was scary and a safety hazard. Trying to get someone out to correct is challenging and the solution is to disconnect until they can make it out. As my wife cant open the door with it disconnected and I am not there, this is a challenge with her trying to get to work. We have now had the opener for 2 days so brand new. read more

I have used Norm's Door Service in the past and loved them. I don't know what has happened since... Called them because the garage door wouldn't close. Come to find out we had a broken spring. Norm's quoted us $500.00 to repair it. Had they stopped there we might have bought it but the serviceman then threw out that for $800.00 he would also put in a new door. Our house is 4 years old and there is nothing wrong with the door whatsoever. This made my husband question the first estimate. He immediately called another door service, indicated the problem and was told it would be around $300-350. When my husband told Norm's serviceman he dropped the price to $400. My husband then called the service manager for Norm's who basically admitted the serviceman messed up. At that point who could trust them? Door repaired today by other service $209. read more

The response from Norm's is laughable. NO service was done on my garage door. The GPS may show that the tech was there for 28 minutes, but the majority of that time was spent talking to me or on the phone with the office. I do not fault the tech at all. He actually said "I feel bad for having to charge you for me spending 5 minutes on your garage door." I have several friends and family that run similar businesses (plumbing, electrical, etc.) and they all agree that this is not how you run a business if you want to keep customers. read more

I am a Member of the Board of Realtors and have met the owner of Norm's Door several times as they are an affiliate member of the board of Realtors. I have referred them several Garage Door repair jobs over the years as I believe they do Quality work. At the Beginning of July my garage door opener remotes stopped working. So i set up an appointment with Norm's Door. They said they would be here between 8-12 and they were a no call no show. I called about 12:30 after i had waited around for 4 1/2 hours for them and they apologized and said they would make me the first person on the list for the following Monday, and they would discount the service fee in half to $42.50. I accepted the apology and agreed. The following Monday they showed up performed the work and not only tried to bill me the service fee but tried to bill me for their travel time which was never previously disclosed. I refused to pay until i got a corrected invoice so he left and i was mailed an invoice that included the full service fee but no travel charge this time. We called in again yet wasting more time explained the situation was appolozied to and said we would receive a corrected invoice. A week later we get an invoice once again charging the entire service fee. The right hand can not talk to the left its a billing nightmare. Homeowner Beware!!! read more
