Wise Choice uses a platform for selecting materials and so forth that was great in theory, rather questionable in practice, and our wires got crossed more than a few times. The time issue was simply that the projects took a bit longer than we'd planned. The time problem though was at least partly our fault (changing our minds about design, etc), and that was compounded by suppliers actually sending the wrong product on occasion, so certainly not all a Wise Choice issue. Other than that, they were great to work with, very pleasant people all around, very conscientious (cleaning up work spaces thoroughly every day), and the entire project came in under budget! We will definitely reach out to them again for our next remodel.

We first learned about Wise Choice through Yelp, and although we were initially nervous about choosing a contractor for such a large job (they gave us the best estimate, by far!) without a personal recommendation, we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. One of the bids we threw out as unrealistic and so low that it was obvious there would be complications. The other three came in surprisingly within fifteen dollars of each other. Why did we choose Kelley Home Services? When the others told us they could not do a custom shower pan (longer that 6 feet), or said that they could not install cabinets that we had bought seperately, or use paint that we already had on hand, Kelley said "Sure, no problem, we have a master tiler who can do that custom pan, of course you want the cabinets to match the kitchen, we would be glad to install them for you." Time and again Kelley said yes when others wanted to steer us toword a better porfit margen for them. Lets talk about the people we got to work with: Pat Kelley, contractor, owner, and very competent leader. He never said no, and never failed to contact us back within 24 hours, even on Memorial Day and 4th of July. Randy, the supervisor and master tiler on our job was polite, respectful and funny. He made sure the crew was there everyday on time, and that all our expectations were met. Every single day, at the end of the day he told us what they had accomplished that day, exactly when they would return, and what they would be trying to accomplish the next day. We always knew what to be ready for, what to expect, and what we could do to help. So smooth! The sub contractors who work with Pat Kelley are outstanding. Both the pumber and electrician knew their stuff, made every change we had asked for without hesitation and replaced like with like; copper pipe with copper, high quality professional grade recepticals, etc. The entire project was completed on time, on budget and best of all, we all parted as friends. It has taken me six months to write my review, because I have so many wonderful things to say about…read moremy experience - it's been very difficult to summarize. I have worked with numerous contractors, on so many projects over the years. I have always come away with negative experiences - lack of communication, lack of follow through on projects, unmet expectations, etc (and so much worse). Working with John was so very different. Honestly, he exceeded all of my expectations and made the project so very easy - and enjoyable - from beginning to end! His overall attention to detail and kindness throughout every step of the process set this process apart from any other project I have ever experienced. John took on my remodel during a very stressful time in my life. Not only did he exceed my expectations in the end result, but the he made every step of the project smooth. He is a true general contractor. He managed every detail without me having to coordinate a single thing. John has wonderful suppliers to refer his clients to - he also makes himself available to meet with you and support you through every step of the decision making process. He will provide as much (or as little) support as is necessary and often does the work of a designer and contractor in one. And if you are OCD, John will outmatch you. His attention to detail is unparalleled. You can rest assured than every detail is remembered and attended to with the greatest care. One of the things that stands out about my experience with John is his level of communication. For starters, he answers his phone! He promptly replies to calls and texts within a very short period (typically an hour). I rarely had to reach out to John to check on the progress of my job - he provided me with regular updates. If I hadn't heard from John for a time, he usually initiated a call to provide me with an update. John has a wife and a daughter and it shows. He describes himself as an "over communicator." He is great at listening, understanding and providing patience throughout the remodel process - even with females (which has not been my experience). He does not impose his ideas on you or assume he knows what's best (even though he is a seasoned expert). He genuinely cares and works hard to be sure that he's delivering his client's expectations. I have never experienced that level of communication during a project and it was so helpful and reassuring. It ultimately resulted in my home being exactly what I was hoping for. In addition to John doing exceptional work, he works with a team of contractors that are excellent and professional. They are people you will feel safe and comfortable opening your home to and even enjoy having around your family. John and Mark especially are beyond lovely. We were actually a little sad when the project ended! They became a delightful fixture in our home! I was very involved in my project from beginning to end. I had a clear vision of the end result and personally chose all of the materials and fixtures. Even so, I cried when I saw the finished result. If was like an HGTV reveal! The entire experience, and outcome, exceeded every singly expectation I had, and more. I'm sure there are other competent contractors out there (maybe). However, you will not find a more excellent, ethical, or kind one than John. I have lived in my completed house for six months now. When I look around, I still love every single detail and remember all of the kindness, care and excellence that went into this project. They glide out and are easy to load. High-quality materials and work. I saw them at the Tacoma Home Show and had been talking with them over a two-year period. When I was ready to move ahead on the project, Aaron came out to see the site and submitted the proposal. Before starting work, he returned to verify measurements and the layout. When the cabinet was ready, he and Kevin came out and did the installation. They also took the cabinet that was there and moved it downstairs and repaired two of the doors, so it is now useable. I had forgotten that I was supposed to order the hardware to match what we already had. Aaron took photos and placed the order and returned and installed the hardware when it arrived.
