We have been going to the North Bend Animal Clinic for 12 years and have always been impressed by the kindness and understanding of the vets and staff. They have always gone above and beyond caring for our pets, and we have always made us feel like our pet was of the utmost importance to them. If I any complaint, it's that a few times I have called during working hours but no one answered the phone. That can be a bit concerning when you have a sick pet who needs care as soon as possible. We needed a last minute appointment somewhere close to check out some unusual vomiting our whiskered baby had going on, so we decided to give this place a try. I was really impressed that even though our kitty obviously picked Friday night to start the symptoms and it was already Saturday morning, they still managed to squeeze us into a spot at the end of the day! When we arrived, the front was friendly and showed us into one of the small exam rooms near the front of the office. The office is older with some outdated qualities but not completely unusual for medical type offices in the North Bend area. We waited about 15-20 minutes for the veterinarian as she was still helping her previous patient and when she finished she came right over to see us. Our sick kitty is actually our easiest kitty vet visit kitty. Most of our other babies turn from pudding pops into good ol wild badgers the second they hear the word vet. Our sweet boy though is usually pretty even tempered though he was being persnickety today with hissing and a few bats. I was a little disappointed the vet didn't want to do much of an exam on him with such mild signs of aggression since I can't imagine many of the cats they see are easy patients. I've spent years in volunteer animal rescue and trapping myself and have experience handling feral cats and vets I've had in the past just know how to work around these feisty felines. We didn't get much of an exam done and when she tried to give an anti-nausea injection she was jumpy and couldn't complete it even with my husband and I doing the restraining of our lil guy. Office fee was pretty reasonable and she didn't want to run any tests but just suggested we try an anti-nausea pill at home and then schedule with our regular vet. Definitely appreciated the last minute scheduling and the friendly service, but don't think it would be a good fit for cats unless they are super docile or drugged up. Overall though it's a convenient office with friendly staff and we were at least happy to have a professional look him over and let us know it wasn't an emergency. We are pretty obsessive pet parents after all. read more

I should have paid more attention to reviews and local recommendations. Now its biting me in the rear. Not feeling good about their marketing practice, We did purchase their one year puppy plan as they presented it. Turns out it was $250 for the first and second shots and one wormer. I checked price for same services in the area, turns out it is a $40. Service everywhere. They sent us a card in the mail stating time for the Bordetella (oral) and charged us another $85. (Again, presenting it as part of the one year plan)For a vet visit, I still have receipt. I Don't mind paying for premium quality vet services at a premium price, All I ask is they be upfront and not avoid disclosing what you get for your $ or what your going to be charged for. When I asked what the 1 year service was and what service did we get for $250. 6 months ago, They said we got a series of vaccine and de-worm care, with an unprofessional attitude and the vet wont wear a mask with no ventilation in the exam rooms. Felt like I bought the aftermarket plan at the car dealer. Lol . They must advertise on yelp, looks their one star reviews are hidden it the reviews they don't recommend section. read more

During the pandemic, none of our local vets had openings. By necessity we ended up here (even though we live in Tacoma) when one of our doggos had an issue. All of our experiences and interactions have been extremely positive. The staff and the vets are very caring, spend value time with us (meaning enough time to discuss any issues and ask questions - not just a rush through) and they never try to guilt us or make us pay for additional services or things we don't need. (They are also understanding if Tacoma traffic makes us a couple minutes late). The environment there is very welcoming and they do their best to make it a stress free visit. We thought this would be an interim situation for us but they are now our one and only vet and we gladly make the trek to see them. read more

We had our cat in for a spay I March Unfortunately a short time later we found it had not been successful. She was definitely in heat. I went to the clinic to visit with the vet and see what our options were. The vet did not make themselves available to visit even thought I was willing to wait. A vet tech was sent out to offer an ultra sound and we would be responsible for the $600 cost. That day I went to 2 other vets in the area and found that there are a couple other tests to offer at much less cost that would ensure results. They both suggested to wait to see if she would go into heat again. And she has. I acknowledge that this was not intentional by the North Bend Clinic and situations like this do occur. I think the vet should have taken time to directly speak with me, that I should have been offered ALL the options to know if ovarian tissue was still in my cat. And last but not least... I feel the clinic should be responsible for some of the costs. It certainly wasn't anything I did to botch the surgery or my cat. I think you either stand by your work or you don't. Very disappointing on how the clinic dealt with this situation. read more

Mostly COVID related - I went here as my normal vet was booked up for weeks and I needed to have my pet seen quickly. They were running about 30 minutes behind schedule and when the dr finally saw us, he opened the door to announce that he wasn't wearing a mask for medical reasons. I would have preferred to know this before my appointment instead of being caught off guard. I did appreciate that he stayed at the doors edge and kept things brief. They did present a few different options for scheduling follow up treatment including the next day or after a few weeks when the dr would be returning from visiting family (this was mentioned along with what supposed to be a funny joke about going against Fauci). I opted to not book a follow up with them. When checking out the front desk staff said they understood me wanting to wait for a later appointment "as funds were probably tight due to Christmas." Overall, I feel they correctly diagnosed my pet, had reasonable prices, and provided a few different options for scheduling follow up. The assumptions made about my financial situation and the lack of a mask & joking about disregarding social distancing in a disrepectful way was enough that I won't be giving them my business in the future. I hope that they will use this review to adjust their comments to be more professional and for the vet to put a damn mask on (or at least tell customers up front). read more

Totally missed the mark. Our dog's health was slowly deteriorating for a little while, and then wasn't eating or drinking water for over a week and a half towards the end, could hardly keep his head up, clearly couldn't stand up without pain. After much heartache, we decided to let him pass on. Vet was dismissive and unprofessional (I don't know why he's so hyper?). Prior to the visit, we dropped off our dog's medical record from another visit 2 weeks earlier. He didn't even read it! Asked us questions he could have found the answers to had he glanced through the folder. Forced our 70 lbs sick dog to stand up and limp around, like literally picked up his hind legs to stand! Said he had osteoarthritis and ordered x-ray. Ordered x-ray reading to be sent out to a radiologist. Gave him unnecessary antibiotics shot - there was no significant lab result indicating bacterial infection. Sent us home with medications. We could tell he just wanted to jack up the charges. Bill came out to be $700+. LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER, we went to Alpine Emergency Vet in Issaquah to put our dog down. Somehow our dog's health condition worsened. Do not come here even if it's the only vet clinic in this town. They don't have your best interest. It was a very traumatic experience. read more

I've always had a great experience here, until Covid. When it was recommended that we all start wearing masks, I took our dog in and both Dr Howard and a tech were without and people were still taking their animals on the rooms with them. I recently heard another friend take her dogs in and also found him not to wear a mask. Rumor has it, it's a medical reason- but I did not feel safe. We switched to Salish Vet and love them! The clinic changed management between my two visits with two senior cats. On the latest visit, the vet took significant time to understand the home situation of the cats. She took the time to explain why one cat had a recurring eye discharge, making sure I understood the problem and the supplements that could help without talking down to me. For the cat that was losing weight, the vet recommended precisely the tests I would expect based on 60 years of cat ownership and provided the lab work at a reasonable price. The environment and demeanor of the staff kept both cats calm throughout the visit. I was very pleased with the service. read more

When we first got our two cats, we had them on an insurance plan with Banfield. Not knowing what to expect, we were blind sided with 7am drop offs for standard appointments, only to pick them up later in the day with them terrified in their carriers that were soaked in... you know. While they were young, a few years passed where we didn't have a vet due to that bad experience. We applied to multiple vets and even made an appointment with one that never called to confirm! This place emailed us back on a Saturday and got us in the following day when we saw they replied back later that week. We reached out because our little guy had some swelling above his eye, but also wanted to get a standard checkup for both our cats. However, mid week, his eye was swollen shut! That prompted us to see which vets had responded, where we were shocked to see when they responded. Unlike the 7am drop off, we were able to be there with them (during COVID) and the doctor and assistants were all incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They didn't judge us for not having been to a vet in a while and made some recommendations to get them up to date with some vaccine boosters. When it came down to the little guy's eye, he gave us quite a few options and fully let us choose. We went with the surgery to get it removed and they were able to do it the following day. We dropped him off the following morning and got a call from the doctor himself around 10am! Our little guy, Riley, was out of surgery and recovering. They commented how well he handled everything, said they got it all, didn't think the growth was malignant, but could send it off for a biopsy to find out what it is. I happily accepted and was given the soonest time to come pick him up. Everyone at this clinic is so friendly and they did such a fantastic job taking care of the most important little man in my wife and I's life. Thank you and we are looking forward to more routine visits with a great clinic. read more

Dr. Howard and an assistant came to our home when it was time to let Pepper go and both were so incredibly caring to Pepper and our family in our grief. Lots of complex issues during our two dogs' lifetimes...especially cancer with Pepper. We were always treated with care and respect and will definitely be back when we get a new pup. read more

We arrived at our appointment right as the vet opened and we could see all of the techs and the vet in the lobby not wearing masks. When we came in to the exam room the vet promptly joined us, however her mask was not covering her nose and the door was closed allowing no air flow. No mention was made or questions asked about how comfortable we were with any Covid precautions. We are very involved kitty parents and came with a folder full of previous vet paperwork, all of which was not addressed. We did not go over vaccines, however she did do a good job of addressing a few other concerns we had. After leaving disappointed, we got home and looked at the itemized receipt where we noticed we were charged $18 for a "complimentary" nail trimming. We will not be back. read more

My daughter took her sick kitty to this clinic. They told her he needed surgery, but that they did not know if it was because of his teeth or because of an abscess. They told her it was going to cost roughly $1000. Without details, we were given mixed information and did not feel comfortable. We made the decision to bring her cat to my vet where I live. I told them what we encountered with this clinic and did not understand why they did not do any xrays. My vet completed xrays that found a section of her kitty's jaw was weakened due to an infected tooth. Had we had NB clinic proceed blindly into surgery without a complete picture of what was going on in his mouth, they could have fractured his jaw. I do not know if NB has the capabilities to repair a fractured jaw. But if they do, why then didn't they take simple xrays????? The good news is that her kitty had surgery successfully with great care. He has a good chance his jaw will strengthen over time. The bad news, I do NOT recommend North Bend Animal Clinic. They do not deserve even one star in this case. read more

Dr. Howard is great. We'd originally went to Dr.Hogan at his Fall CIty office and still brought our fur-kids to the Boalch St Clinic. He retired and sold his practice to Dr. Howard. They have a new location on 202. I loved Dr.Hogan, a family friend, and Dr. Howard's group that took over his practice have carried on his great tradition. He and his staff (including the new doctor on staff, Dr. Taylor) have been so wonderful helping us keep our often decrepit critter/family members comfortable and living the best lives they can until they couldn't. We've been seeing them a long time and had many a beloved's problems resolved or at least alleviated. He is very straight forward with his diagnosis and your options. He has never made me feel guilty or bad when a decision has to be made, be it quality of live or financial, or more likely both. He is very straight forward but extremely compassionate with both us and our and our beloved critter/family member in his care. read more

I've not had any problems with this clinic. The staff is generally accommodating and friendly. The prices are reasonable. I had been going to Banfield before changing to this clinic, and the experience has been eye opening. the vet actually gives you his time and answers questions. You can tell he really cares about animal welfare. This is a clinic, not an emergency animal hospital so an appointment is highly recommended as they are usually booked otherwise. I've also boarded my pet there many times and their prices are reasonable and she alwasy comes back happy, unlike other boarding places I've used. read more

We have taken our three pets to North Bend Animal Clinic for probably ten years. Through all these years, Dr. Howard has never missed making a correct diagnosis and has always offered us alternatives of treatment when possible, explaining pros and cons clearly. More recently Dr. Taylor has joined his staff and she sees our geriatric dog for acupuncture which has undoubtedly extended his lifespan. On a recent road trip, our geriatric dog lost mobility very fast and we decided to come home. After a call to the clinic they set an appointment for the earliest we could return from the SW and called us the next morning to see how our dog was doing. When I read some of these reviews, I know they were precipitated by some of the fill-in vets that we didn't feel were up to par. Now that there are two vets, these problems have resolved. read more

So my dog had surgery here today, although the Dr may have done a good job with surgery, she was not the Dr I had consented to do my dogs surgery with and I was not told I'd have a different surgeon until I'd dropped her off and they called the house. She was rude and pushy, and acted condescending, and did not instill confidence. I am a critical care nurse and don't appreciate her tone. I do like Dr Howard, the other Dr there, but I will not be back. read more

Have taken my furry friends (cat and dogs) to NBAC for several years and have never found anything but warm, caring and professional. The reception is always friendly and they have pet treats on hand to put my dogs at ease. Doctors Howard and Taylor are professional and knowledgeable always providing excellent treatment with a variety of options. From surgery, to acupuncture to routine physicals, both doctors are warm and caring always treating my animals with utmost care. The techs have been there for years and know my pets by name and always provide good care. When I recently had my 18 year old orange tabby put to sleep due to a failing heart, I felt nothing but compassion from the staff. I have zero qualms taking my pets to NB Animal Hospital and will be taking our next generation of furry friends to them as well. read more

My dog had a really bad UTI. I called and they were able to get me in that evening. The front desk was very friendly and the doctor was extremely nice. We have taken our dogs to NB Animal Clinic occasionally, sometimes to Value Pet Clinic in Bellevue. Recently, we wanted to update the rabies shots for the dogs and were told that they would need to have an exam first. I contacted Value Pet to find out when their last exams were, then relayed that information to NB Animal Clinic -- both had been less than a year ago, one specifically was last month. When my husband took the dogs to get their shots, the clinic said they wouldn't do the shots without a current exam, even though they both had exams less than 1 year old at Value Pet. We decided not to get one of our dogs done; the other had to be done because she was scheduled for a grooming in 2 days and we didn't have time to go back to Value Pet. Totally unhappy with getting charged for an exam when she just had one last month. Terrible policy. read more

We were completely dissatisfied with their service and attitudes. We recently brought in our 3 year old Shih Tzu for an emergency visit. He was whining and uncomfortable, in clear pain. We told the receptionist and she saw our dog and asked if we had an appointment, we said no and she proceeded to sigh and tell us that we should have made one and couldn't fit us in most likely. She told us we were welcome to wait and see if a spot opened up. Her lack of caring about animals and her job will keep us from ever returning. I came to this clinic for the first time today, and brought my unexpectedly adopted puppy for a first-time exam. The staff was extremely friendly to my puppy, and made sure to make her feel comfortable before they touched her. The Dr. seemed very educated in possibilities to some of my puppies symptoms. No official testing was done, and she was good about not "diagnosing" or narrowing down on one problem being the explanation, and she kept a very open mind. They all seemed really relaxed, which I think has been most people's problems under these reviews. They have high requirements, and these guys don't meet it. You win some, you lose some. I recently moved from Arizona and have only been in North Bend for about a month- I was nervous about finding a good vet in town for my 2 dogs. I just had my first appointment and left feeling SO relieved. First off, the women at the front desk were awesome - super friendly and welcoming and very sweet to my dog. Secondly, the doctor was amazing - so nice and helpful. You could really tell he truly cared about my dog, unlike other experiences I've had in the past with other vets. He took his time to explain everything, I never felt rushed, and he answered all of my questions thoroughly. I feel very lucky to have found them and there are so close to our new home. I adopted a dog and then found out she had major dental, heart, and ear issues. I have seen two vets at this clinic and they always take tons of time and answer all of my questions...and I had a million questions. I called many vets before going to North Bend and they were the most open and upfront about pricing. They also were a lot less expensive than the other vets I called. They are really careful about not pushing you into extra services, they let you know your options, but are very supportive of your choices. Also they are easy to get into. I often get appointments within a day or two and they have extended hours. All of the front office staff I have ever talked to have been super nice and accommodating and they always remember my dog. read more

I have received totally unacceptable treatment from the front office staff, who seem to turn over more frequently. This is a great group of people who care about the animals they treat! I called and got a next day appointment for my dog's tooth. When it became clear that she would need pretty extensive work done, the office staff was great at keeping me informed and walking me through their recommended treatment plan. They were never pushy; always concerned about my dog first. I even received calls from the doctor while he was examining my dog on the operating table during procedure. We have four geriatric cats and were taking them to Cats Exclusively in Shoreline, but moved to Snoqualmie in November and wanted to find a local vet. My oldest cat was not doing well last week. We took her to North Bend Animal Clinic. They took EXCELLENT care of her. Both vets seem to be skilled diagnosticians, the entire staff is friendly and welcoming, and their prices are very reasonable. I brought my cat home today - she seems like a different animal with lots of appetite, well hydrated, and happy to be home. Despite seeing the other awful reviews of this place, I decided to give them a try...big mistake. I made an appointment to have my dog euthanized. My dog is 13 years old, deaf, has frequent episodes where she can't breathe very well, and her appetite is failing. I told all of this to the vet, tears in my eyes, and the vet proceeded to basically tell me she wouldn't do it and that we should try and treat her symptoms ($$$). The vet basically admonished me for the condition of my dog's teeth and ears while she was at it. I have never felt so judged and looked down upon. Instead of helping my family send my dog off with a little bit of dignity, this place made me feel like dirt. read more
