This geography and location really helped preserve my sanity. On my work days, I provided VIP service to all patients I took care of. I knew this was a tiny hospital and I would probably work alone. That's fine, but I expect adequate equipment and a safe working environment free of disrespect. Bonus if the manager was more supportive and true to his word. Sadly, there will always be a high attrition rate. Staff and travelers would stay longer if they were valued.

I had to stay for a couple of days so I did see a rotation of staff, Very happy with the way I was treated. Unfortunately after a couple of weeks I had to return for more care. I was greeted like an old friend. Gold Beach Hospital has what we refer to as 1950 small town charm.

I was treated with dignity and concern and she was able to answer all my questions, taking time to explain lung function and what does and does not target solutions. I have seen three Urgent Care doctors this month for the same problem, only to be given a new RX and sent on my way quickly. Dr. Schwartz is not only intelligent, but wise as well- and that's what patients need- not just the obligatory twelve minutes and send you out the door. If you have an urgent medical problem and need assistance, they tell you to drive 1-1/2 hours for the Walk-in clinic in North Bend, or drive to Brookings to go to the Urgent care unit.....or drive to Crescent City, California. Really? Wow.
