Been to NCB a handful of times. Overall pretty average. Great location. The best thing we ever had were the fried pickles. Some how, now they are no longer on the menu. We were told the new cook needed to be trained over a month ago. Still not on the menu. Service is pretty good, despite being short staffed after the summer season. Beer selection is nice. Went to the brewery the other day. They had a nice local band playing live. The food was great, only reason and why I'm giving a 4 star is because it took a little while for them to attend to us due to short staff... but the staff was them selves was really nice and friendly. Me personally, I'm not into beer, so I didn't get to try their brewery, but from friends that did went there before... they have a good selection of brewed beer. Definitely nice for sure. And if your a dog parent, if the weather is nice, you can bring your dogs with you if you sit on the outside section of the place. Definitely unique place. read more

For context, it was a Friday night in July in a tourist town and we did not make a reservation. We were a party of 12 including children. When we arrived and checked in, we were told 45 minutes to an hour - no problem, understandable, and best-case. The hostess was clearly struggling horribly and couldn't understand any of the questions she was being asked - like if it would be easier to split us into groups of four or six. The poor thing was like a stoned deer in headlights, but we got on the list. Note: the whole place was basically empty and they clearly had only a couple of staff members. There were easily three times the amount of people waiting outside as there were inside seated anywhere. An hour goes by, and another staff member tells us they won't be able to serve us! After going in to clarify the situation (to much more confusion by the hostess and equally-addled manager), they corrected themselves and let us know we were next in line. Another half an hour goes by. By now it's obvious that this is not going to happen and they would be letting us wait until 11pm without saying a word to us, then presumably 1-2 hours longer for any food once seated. We go in to let them know we will be leaving and have to go flag down the hostess. Upon telling her we have to leave and even apologizing for cancelling our spot, she did not say a single word. Like, just stared. To the 20-30 people still waiting (including a bachelorette party that I think actually had reservations), I hope you were able to find some good food elsewhere. This wasn't about the amount of time we spent waiting at all, it was about the horribly rude and pathetic way that this establishment was being operated and the fact that we were CLEARLY not going to be served. In all the time that we waited, not a single staff member said anything to anyone, no updates, nothing. Deeply disappointing and in direct conflict with all the other reviews I've seen. read more

We were there on July 15th, and there was a group of us, around 13 people. We were denied seating. I understand they were short staffed, but we were in no hurry and even offered to wait if needed. There were groups in there of about the same size as us. Apparently because we weren't regulars or from the area meant we get no consideration. The hostess denied us and even became rude as we tried to work out the situation. Wouldn't even allow us the opportunity. She just showed us the door! I visit a lot of breweries around the state, I'm a "member" of #tagabrew, I do not recommend this place, don't waste your time! Just my personal opinion only. Pretty good range of beers to choose from. My favorite was the Barrel Aged Stout. Some of the others were a bit too hoppy for my liking. I know that's what's "in" these days, so I was happy to see that it wasn't all over hopped IPAs. My wife and I shared an appetizer which was fine, but the menu looked good and food smelled good. Very quaint and pretty newer restaurant in a small town. Fun atmosphere- industrial but warm at the same time, with beautiful photos of boats that come into harbor here. Good variety of food. My family enjoyed the beers that they got (I'm not a beer drinker). The smoked chicken quesadilla was what I got and was very good. Hubby got pulled pork and MIL & SIL both got brisket sandwiches. One of the best burgers I've ever had in the Lower Peninsula! Food wise, the taste was amazing. We started with the fried pickles with a Southwest ranch and a mango salsa for dips. My SO got the half chicken with the house BBQ sauce, served with creamy slaw 1 side and jalapeño cornbread. I stole the cornbread as you had a strong jalapeño flavor, but the heat was low. One of the best cornbreads I've had. I had the bacon burger with smoked Gouda and pickled onions. Couldn't get enough! My SO enjoyed the beer, and before we leave town we plan on filling a growler to take home. I enjoyed the Apple cherry cider and blueberry cider. Ended up buying two cans of the cider to also take home! Definitely a good reason to come back to the area!! read more

Nice location, average sports bar type environment. It was a little loud for any intimate conversation, so if you're looking for quiet look somewhere else. It isn't overly loud, you can have a conversation as long as you don't mind being overheard;) The staff was attentive and pleasant. The menu is somewhat limited but what we ordered was tasty. I got the burger and fries (pictured). The prices are little high for what you get but there isn't a lot to choose from in Manistee that isn't high priced. Found this place to stop at on our drive home on a Sunday for lunch. I ordered the 5 piece chicken tender meal and my husband ordered the bacon jam cheeseburger and their New England IPA beer. We were very impressed with the food!!! The chicken tenders we lightly breaded and came with a unique type of fry and side of coleslaw. The bacon jam on the burger was to die for! Such amazing flavors. My husband said his beer was great too. We will definitely stop by again next time we are in the area because their menu had a lot of other great sounding options to choose from as well. Their drink menu seems pretty extensive too. Surpassed all my expectations. I find most breweries less than stellar when it comes to their menu. They concentrate on beer. However, we were pleasantly surprised when 4 of us chose North Channel Brewing for dinner this week. We started with a flight of beers and hard cider which were unique and refreshing. We also split an order of the Spicey Chicken Quesadillas and homemade tortilla chips and salsa. The chicken was amazing and the colorful chips were delicious. Currently sitting at an open table in a half empty restaurant, still waiting for a table for 2, an hour and 10 minutes into what I was told would be a 30-45 minute wait. So frustrated at the hostesses who both can't contain their snarkiness when asking about our wait, and the servers who appear to be wandering around aimlessly while tables are unbussed and people are waiting for tables. This is on a Monday night.... I was told I was welcome to stand, not sit at a table, while I wait. It was ok- (full disclosure we are somewhat foodies, good home cooking often tops restaurants these days) we had a 50 minute wait that turned into a 1 hr 15 min wait. Our friends said the burger was nothing special but I liked the fried green tomato (it had a ton of bacon) sandwich. The sauce was perfect and we all loved the thin cut fries. It took a long while for our server to greet us, long wait for beers/drink and even more for food. They were out of the fish and chips, which two people in our group were planning to order. Ahhhhmazing. New business I've been waiting for to open and they didn't disappoint. They turned a disaster of a building into an absolutely beautiful space that welcomes everyone, even kids. The beer is honestly delicious... competes with a lot of the microbreweries in Cincinnati (which are amazing) My favorite beer was the double IPA. The food for a brewpub is spectacular... we LOVED everything we tried... salmon sandwich; fries; chili (needed a little more spice but good flavor); nachos; queso (a little on the thin side but yummy); fried pickles (sweet pickles with a spicy sauce - very different and delicious); wedge salad had deep fried bacon on top (oh my!); beer cheese soup (nom nom nom) The staff is super nice and welcoming and service is quick - even when it's busy. The location couldn't be more perfect and there is ample parking across the street. I am SO happy this finally opened in Manistee... just another reason I love Manistee!!! read more

Then drinks and water got low as we waited for refills our server was no where to be found. Overall Tacos were good. Burgers seemed over cooked but had decent flavor. Second try. Never going back. Chicken wings were like rubber. They had no blue cheese dressing for the wings and they did not come with carrots, celery, or ANY garnish at all. I had to ask and settle for ranch dressing. Nachos had the worst, cheap cardboard chips in them. Fish tacos were super bland. Beer items out of stock. Beer they did have was not good. What a catastrophic travesty. Seriously. Huge investment in a beautiful restaurant and location. The investors clearly don't care abut staff or quality of food. They are just skimming off summer tourists who wander in and are willing to give it a try once. I can't see this place making it the long haul. They seriously need to up their game on the beer and food or it will be for sale soon if it isn't already.
