Great restaurant/brewery in Manistee. Good for big groups or small. Recommend the Manistee IPA, but they have a great list of beers from 5oz on up in size. Food was good , I'd recommend the Mac & Cheese with beef brisket on top. Had a small problem with our order coming out from the kitchen different than what was ordered. Came here because the food on paper looked amazing. We requested a table outside and after being seated we waited 10 minutes to see a waiter and when we finally did we were ready to order. Thankfully we did because per our now waiter the hostess didn't mark us as being there. We ordered the chicken tacos and the animal smoke house burger and upgraded the side for the burger to fries for $3. We also got the fried pickle chips. Pickle chips were good. Although we were extremely excited about the animal smoke house burger the pork belly was minimal and the flavor was less than par. The most frustrating part was the fries we upgraded to were so scarce! Hardly any and for $3 no thank you. Great building, and outside setting, but our experience went down from there. Instantly our server was abrupt and unfriendly and the quality of her service never improved. At one point I used the restroom and as I was returning to my outdoor seat a staff member was standing at the door and even asked me a question, but unlike any other establishment since Covid she did not open the door for me. Finally our food, the Chicken Bacon Wrap, and my husband's NCB Burger, were fine. Mine was shredded chicken, not bad or great, but definitely not what I was expecting. We decided to try this new brewery last weekend. We drove from Beulah to Manistee, about 45 minutes. The food was okay. Nothing to really want us to go all the way back for. Here's the kicker... Our bill totaled 55.00 and some change. We only had a 20.00 dollar bill, so we left that for our waitress. A couple days later I noticed on our bank statement that the total was hard posting for 66.00 even. I asked my husband and he said yeah it wasn't 66.00. We called the brewery and was met with a melancholy general manager, Brian. We told him what happened and he just blew it off like nothing was wrong. He called back and said the waitress "accidentally got our receipt mixed up with the other table" I do not believe it one bit. We were told we were going to be fully refunded and he would send a gift card. What we got, 11.00 in cash and a 25.00 gift card. Place is a JOKE. If you've gone check your bank statement!! read more

Dropped by this brewery because vacationing in Ludington, 30-40 minute drive. Hubby had Red Ale (can't remember name) and Sucker Punch (trippel), both were very good. He had smoked mac and cheese with beef brisket (good portion of both), he rated as excellent! I had pinto grigio (boring, I know) which was tasty. For lunch I had a house salad with smoked chicken. Very disappointed in my second experience here at North Channel Brewing yet again. The first time my boyfriend and I came here, the food was par level. However, the wait time was insane. We went on a Tuesday with a medium level of consumer volume and it took about 50 minutes to an hour for us to actually get our food... I hesitated leaving a review because I figured I'd want to give them a second chance. My boyfriend and I went back to Manistee MI two days ago and when I thought things could get worse, THEY DID. Both the food and the service was very poor hence my low rating. 1st, there was no hostess at the front near the "please wait to be seated" sign...no one actually came up to talk to us until about 10 minutes. The person who sat us openly said, "I don't know what these people are doing around here" as we were seating. We took it as a joke when in reality she was being serious. 2nd, a waiter came and took our order within about 10 minutes after we were seated, he was kind and friendly, however, not so informative about the menu... my boyfriend and I ordered a burger with fries and chips... not only did it take a whole hour to get our food YET again, the meat was raw, blood was on the bun of the burger, and we borderline threw up. A great space. Live music was there the second night I stopped by & it was great fun! I had the Pilsner, the IPA & sampled a cider. All were very good. Walked in on a Monday night around 7. We were talking trying to decide if we wanted to eat inside or outside and there was plenty of room for both with only one outside table being used and the inside about half filled. When I checked in we were told that it would be 45 minutes. I turned and looked at the nearly empty dining room and looked back to see if she was serious. I think they are still working out the kinks. I was there with my family for lunch and they wouldn't seat us for 30 minutes even though there were probably 3 giant empty tables. If they had been nice about it, I wouldn't have minded the wait, but they weren't helpful or friendly at all. The nacho fries were super yummy but the regular fries that came with our burgers were inexplicably covered in sugar and basically inedible. Burgers were tasty. Very up and down experience. Kitchen needs to tighten things up, our aloof waiter behaved as if he normally works at The French Laundry and was just there slumming for the day. Beautiful facility. They did an incredible job turning it from nothing to something very modern and special. Unfortunately, the food is not great. I've tried 5 different things on the menu and none were great. Two lacked flavor and the others were just generic. This place is amazing!! I'm not a beer drinker but the blueberry cider was so good. We even purchased two cans to take home with us from vacation! We had the chili cheese fries (delicious) and the smoked salmon and fried shrimp po boy. Never knew that Michigan and a brewery would have splice outstanding seafood!!
