He owns and operates an independent practice providing terrific service with fair prices for quality care. I couldn't be happier with my North Coast Audiology experiences and look forward to a long and positive relationship. DETAILED REVIEW: After 61 years and a recent visit to my ENT, the time had come to consider getting my first hearing aids. I dove in educating myself on the tech, types, brands, with some industry material and videos mixed-in -- but even more importantly, wanted to figure out who I should entrust with helping me take this first step AND my longer-term hearing needs. The more I learned, I became convinced I only wanted to find a true audiologist that infers a lot of personal dedication to their profession through additional formal education, a graduate degree, with practical experience and licensing, vs. a more easily found hearing aid dispenser who doesn't go through nearly the same rigor before applying for their CA State license. I'm fortunate to have found Matt Nesbitt at his North Coast Audiology practice in the Olivenhain/Encinitas area. He's an independent small business owner that isn't tied to a big dispensary chain, or limited to sell and support just one or two brands as some places are (and who may therefore try to shoehorn you into what they sell vs. what would work best for you from a much wider range of alternatives.) Matt also doesn't run a cookie-cutter volume business where trying to maintain a one-on-one relationship can become fleeting after the initial sale, where you may see someone different each time you go back for adjustments and preventive care -- Matt takes care of you. He listens and does not push selling product as his first priority. At our first consult, Matt reviewed my hearing test results, did a video exam of my ear canals, then took an unexpected -- but greatly appreciated -- amount of time to answer all my questions, while probing to understand my problematic hearing situations and lifestyle priorities in my own words. From there, Matt was able to narrow-down and let me try a couple alternatives to consider -- seeking feedback and making improvements with each iteration. His approach quickly made me comfortable I was on the right path with his confident guidance. I thankfully never felt rushed or pressured. Matt even followed-through contacting a manufacturer and called me back the next day to answer a rather detailed hearing aid app/Apple Watch question I had. I'm a stickler for good customer service and can't imagine anything better. North Coast Audiology (NCA) is a welcoming and modern facility, where office manager Jan is always a joy to interact with. From the moment you arrive, there is a professional, yet family feel from people that care. NCA has the tech you expect from a first rate audiology office, and Matt uses REM (Real in-Ear Measurement) when fitting and adjusting, which should help maximize what your technology investment will do for your specific needs. Hearing aids purchased from NCA are not locked, and are full-featured models (unlike what I consider as game playing by some other providers to force you coming back only to them, or who seemingly have lower comparative cost for consumers that don't closely check the specs and what may be missing). Matt also has the skill, tools and spare parts inventory to do many types of onsite physical repair and adjustments himself. While hearing aids from any provider are a significant purchase for most of us, I consider Matt's NCA prices are fair for the combined quality products, service and professional care I receive. I had no idea how much of a difference the right hearing aids, properly prescribed and fit by a trained and knowledgeable audiologist could make in my everyday life. I was not happy with the results I was getting from my 3 year old hearing aids. I found North North Coast Audiology and Dr. Matt Nesbitt. I made an appointment. When I arrived Jan, his receptionist, made me feel very welcomed. I met Matt and explained the difficulties I was having with my hearing aids and general hearing issues. He did a hearing test and recommended new hearing aids that he felt would suit my lifestyle and help solve some of my complaints. I went back to his office a number of times at the beginning and Matt listened closely to my comments and made adjustments that helped fine-tune things. Prior to ordering my new hearing aids Matt recommended custom ear molds. I wasn't sure I wanted to do that but decided to give it a try. It was definitely the right thing to do. Even though they added a little cost they have made the whole experience better. Also, the molds have made the hearing aids so comfortable I can wear them all day and sometimes almost forget to remove them at night. Matt told me that hearing aids would never give me the hearing I had when I was younger. But I think with his help and the new hearing aids I'm getting the best results I can. These guys are awesome!! I'm a professional singer and needed to get in-ear impressions/molds for my custom in-ear monitors. I had called a handful of places that either did not respond back to me or quoted me a ridiculous amount. I was so shocked when another office quoted me $260...YIKES!!! Fast forward to when I called North Coast Audiology, Jan their receptionist was so so sweet and even had the doctor get on the phone to answer my questions on cash pricing since I do not have insurance, then she was able to schedule an appointment for me on the same day! Dr. Matt was so perfect at explaining the whole process, what to expect and all the steps that he was taking to get the best impressions possible. One of my ears required a light cleaning, which at the last place I asked was an extra $50 charge on top of the $260 for impressions. Ended up spending only $50 total at North Coast Audiology for everything!!! Save yourself the trouble of going somewhere that's going to overcharge you and go to North Coast Audiology instead!! Personal care extraordinaire. Matt has been the audiologist for many years for both of my elderly parents and my husband. I will go to him when I'm in need of hearing aids. He is a patient listener and gives his clients all the time they need to feel comfortable with their hearing aids, making adjustments as needed by the wearer. A rare quality in our current times. My 92 year old Mom has a deafening issue with wax buildup and Matt was kind enough to take care of her free of charge and clean her existing hearing aids at the same time. I came here to get a complimentary ear check, just to make sure my ears were ok. Once I found the building I walked inside, and the woman and the front desk, Jan, immediately greeted me with a warm welcome and started chatting it up. She is so sweet, I felt so welcome even though I had never been there before! It was a short wait until I could get my ears checked, and Matt (Dr. Nesbitt) was very helpful! I did not have any ear problems but I was so happy that the ear check was free, unlike many other companies. I would recommend this to everyone, both Jan and Matt were very kind and helpful. I recently had an appointment at North Coast Audiology in Encinitas, as I had a "tune-up" on my hearing aids. Audiologist Matt Nesbitt ensured everything on my hearing aids was up to date and working properly. He takes the time every three or so months to check the aids and to fix anything that may be wrong. Patience is Matt's middle name. He takes his time to understand everyone's problem and takes steps to correct them. He deals with a different generation and does it well. I love my new hearing aids and especially the care that the staff gives me each time I come into the office. I was really unsure about needing hearing aids, although my family regularly told me they thought I need to get checked. I'm so happy that I went and saw Dr Matthew Nesbitt and Jan! I dont see how an audilogy service can get better than this. Matt and his assistant are extremely welcoming....I have NEVER felt rushed, there is always ample time to address all of my issues, (and hearing aids can take time to adjust properly) and once I bought my aids, I've been back at least a half dozen times for further adjustments or ear cleanings and have never, ever felt that I was overstepping my bounds, or that they were shirking responsibility. Dr. Nesbitt is the reason I can hold a job and socialize almost like a normal person. I say "almost" because my hearing loss is in the profound category. Matt has worked with me for years to find just the right hearing aids and to adjust them for my type of hearing loss. Without his expertise, I'd be relegated to closed caption communication! I found out that a former employee had just opened a audiology office so I called. The office staff was welcoming and the office was modern, comfortable and relaxing especially the water feature.
