After Billy Joel at PetCo (of all shows) my ears started to ring and I decided it was time to go get some earplugs. I did some research and decided to go with North Coast Audiology. I called and spoke with Jan - she was extremely helpful and pleasant. I then met with Dr. Nesbitt who subsequently suggested what I should do and fitted me with custom musician earplugs. I have used them for about a dozen concerts and they are incredible!!! I wish I had gotten them sooner. I couldn't be happier with the product and service provided by North Coast Audiology. I will take my business elsewhere and ensure the VA reviews this hack as a provider. To add information. I was scheduled at this location through VES, an independent contractor the VA uses. I was scheduled for an 8:45am appt. I was to the address as per my paperwork from VES. The building number did not match. My paperwork did not have this offices phone number. I google the Dr's name and call, 858-569-6090, there was a voice recording that said their office does not open until 9am and the address was Frost Street. So I called VES and explained my situation, she put me on hold a few minutes, came back and she said talked to the doctors office and their building is hard to find, she said to use the address next door. She stayed on the line while I found the building. She said the secretary was aware of the mix up would be expecting me in a few minutes, which I was there in 2 minutes. I get to the building, take the elevator up, step out and ask the secretary if this was the Audiology place, she said yes. Relieved and happy I found the place, I said I am Ryan, VES just spoke to you. She said yes we can take care of you. Standing right next to me was Dr. Podleski, I recognized him from googling his number and his picture popped up. He asked what time my appointment was, I said 8:45. He immediately said nope, you missed your appointment, we are done with you, you can leave and reschedule, go away and motioned towards the elevator as he turned. I showed him the number I called and asked if it was to his office, he turned and walked away, without responding. Like he was better than this piddly disabled Veteran. Like I said initially, he was a prick. His secretary knew the building was hard to find, I did everything I could by trying to call his office prior to my appointment, when that didn't work, I called VES back. Then this Dr Calls VES and demands they have me take this review down. I explained it was true and accurate and that I would not. VES acknowledged the issues and verified their notes from when I called and what the secretary said. I said I would update it with more info. So Dr. Podleski You might want to edit your response to my review, because I was most certainty in your office and interacted with you directly. Was I late? Yes. Was your attitude called for? No, not at all. And if it was such a big problem, why did the secretary tell VES that i was still ok to come in?

Matt, the audiologist, has tested me twice and the second time he said my hearing was about the same as it had been. He said the decision to get a hearing aid was all mine. In fact, I could stop by and try one for a few weeks to see if I liked it. I thought that was a reasonable approach, instead of pushing some devise on me. And there was no charge each time I had the hearing tests. His wonderful office manager, Jan, called and told me my insurance would only cover 60% because they were out-of-network. Since the hearing aid they recommended began at $4200 I thought I had to look elsewhere. Unfortunately!

If they are short staffed, it's almost impossible to get assistance. I went to the Poway office a few days ago, and there was a sign on the door stating they weren't taking walk-ins due to short staffing. I just needed to get my hearing aid cleaned, which is supposed to be a walk-in. There was also a sign at 1:30 PM stating they were at lunch. I tried the Escondido location the next day, and had the same experience there. One person was working there and I waited 20 minutes (before I gave up) to get my hearing aid cleaned. I called the corporate office and the guy there was basically no help -- in essence, he said "Yeah, we're short staffed. We're trying to fix it." Would not recommend if you have other options.

I went in there very hesitant and ending up ordering the hearing aids. What sold me was knowing I had six months to change my mind. I've had the aids on for two days now and have decided I'm keeping them. I told Vanessa I was going out of town next week and she suggested I go in for a checkup before I leave, just to make sure I'm comfortable with them and if I have questions. As for the hearing aids. They're much easier to wear and more comfortable than I imagined. Best of all is they're not noticeable at all. That was a major concern of mine. Last mention, the first place I went to that I was sent to by my insurance was double the price and I would have had to pay for follow-ups and maintenance. At Costco this service is free for I think two years. I have to read my contract again. Bottom line, I paid a lot less, without insurance, for the same kind of hearing aid. I highly recommend Costco for the hearing aids.

And how right I was. Dr. Blitts calmly and patiently took me through all the audiology testing and determined I was a good candidate for hearing aids. She explained all the benefits and costs of the various options and together we chose the WideX brand based on their superior technology and comfort. Dr. Blitts showed me all the incredible features on the accompanying app and I must say I am very satisfied with both the hearing aids and particularly with Dr. Blitts caring care. She's a gem. I also take umbrage at the cremation companies that solicit in the mail. Not every person who is getting on in years is sick, feeble, deaf, dumb, or has one foot in the grave. I like to think I have a few good, healthy years left in me. I left a voicemail message for AccuQuest to remove me from their mailing list immediately. AccuQuest was finally the answer to my mom's serious hearing loss. She first tried…read moreUnitedHealthCare(UHC): great price but disappointing product and service and after much frustration, she gave up on UHC. So we were understandably skeptical when we visited AccuQuest but Mark Priest was patient and knowledgeable. His testing was comprehensive--more thorough than her doctor's--and we decided to try their hearing aids knowing that we had a 2 month trial period. The hearing aids were custom made to fit her ears which made a world of difference compared to the generic ones from UHC. The follow up support was very impressive, from helping her learn to put them in, to slowly adjusting their sensitivity up to her prescription level over the course of several weeks while her brain adjusted to hearing again. AccuQuest is rather expensive which is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars but they do offer payment plans. Because of the custom fit, the amazing support and follow up, and helping my mom hear again, I definitely recommend giving AccuQuest a try. When she stepped outside the office with her new hearing aids in, she said "I can hear the wind!" (for the first time in years).
