What really stood out to me was how much they cared about putting me at ease they were patient, reassuring, and never made me feel rushed or judged. Unfortunately I'm leaving this review due to a billing problem, this has been going on for months. During my appointment back in February I was told I needed to pay an additional $400 until my secondary insurance paid their portion. My secondary has paid them months ago and the billing department for this office won't release my refund. Ive been trying to ask for it and all I get is a rude employee or a voicemail that tells me to text for a quicker response but I recently sent a text asking for a follow up and it's been over a week with no reply. For those of you scared of going to the dentist, I highly recommend this dental office. I called to make an appointment last week not realizing my benefits were expiring this week. Laura and Ellie at the front office were both so nice and welcoming. They also fit me in to their schedules so I could get xrays taken and cleaning done. They also came in on their days off to be there for the year end madness. They helped me get some work done knowing my husband has been on disability with our income being delayed. I will forever be grateful for that. Laleh was my hygienist and I told her I had some anxiety. She walked me through it since it has been awhile since I've gone to the dentist. WORST customer service by Ellie during several visits and especially on the phone. Ellie refuses to send you information requested with any sort of urgency. This place just lost 3 clients! Strongly advise staying away and saving yourself the headache. Be advised if you're on the phone with Ellie its long hold times, curt responses, inefficient scheduling, mixing up customer information and even sharing other clients personal information. Staff is inexperienced and the quality of care is sub-par and intrusive in the mouth, even during a routine and basic teeth cleaning. read more

Dr. Farhad Sharifi is an excellent dentist. I had several implants that were not placed correctly and a crown that had broken and the screw broken in the implants. He was able to remove it quickly and did not damage the implant. He was also able to see the issue with another crown that was collecting food, which was very annoying to me. His staff is very supportive, professional and works well with him. I was happy to find a dentist who knows what to do and how. Rare! read more

This place felt like a scam. I got a flyer in the mail with some coupons. Dental implant $2k. X-rays, exam and teeth cleaning $90. The mailer was with many from different dental offices in the area. My wife and I decided we would give this office a try. I called and made appointments for my wife and myself. When I called I made it clear we wanted to get our teeth cleaned. I even mentioned the asterisk stating that the teeth cleaning was not for persons with gum disease. The person on the phone said that if gum disease was present we could still get our teeth cleaned it would just cost a little more. The person I spoke with on the phone said that they could get us in the following week. When we got there the wait time was super long. The office was full. We both had x-rays taken but no teeth cleaning. We were both given extensive dental plans totaling just about $20k. The cleanings were quoted at just over $1k and we were told they would take just over a hour. I have had extensive cleanings in the past for about $750 but they took place over four visits and I had to be numbed up each time. I'm not really sure what's going on with this place. I hope this behavior is not their standard operating procedure. I can certainly say I and my wife will not be returning. I would not have even wasted our time and $180 for essentially nothing in my opinion. I would recommend potential patients/customers be cautious with this place and make sure and ask a lot of questions. I understand the specifics of the flyer you sent. You can defend it anyway you like. It's still what happened. Good job getting the first review erased. At least you are paying attention. read more

Kindness is the atmosphere in this office Sweet Laura with her delightful greeting and cheer is welcoming. Dr. Ali is near obsessively impulsive to make sure he does 110% perfection on my teeth. He assures you comfort and works diligently for his desired outcome. Ruby is a precious assistant who is knowledgeable and carries the same drive for excellence in her work. I have had two crowns these last couple months. The gentleness, compassion and excellence I received has been the best experience of my 73 years. This Oceanside office is perfectly name North Coast Dental Excellence as that is the care you will receive. 100% excellent has been the care I have received. As a nurse I am really picky. I'm not sure if they're just trying to make money or what's going on but I was told by one dentist who was "filling in" that I had like 2 cavities. Then, on my next cleaning, I was told by another dentist that I did not have cavities. On my 3rd visit for a cleaning and X-rays, a different dentist said I now needed them filled. I was ok with that. When I came in to fill them, I was charged $130 for the cavity filling. My cleanings are 100% covered by my insurance. Once I saw the dentist, he said I DID NOT need them filled!! After my cleaning, I asked for a refund for the cavity I paid for and didn't get. The front office staff said to call in on Tuesday to talk to the accountant . I called and. Have talked to her multiple times and still no refund! She keeps giving me some excuse about needing my cleaning to go through insurance and get my insurance to pay . However, the money I paid was for the cavity not the cleaning. I feel like they just want to scam me out of my money. Would not trust this dental office and I will be moving to a different dentist. My experience was great! The office was clean and had a calm environment, nice music, there was coffee and tea to help yourself in the waiting room. Their dental equipment is updated, digital x-rays, chairs are comfortable, room had a TV for better comfort. (Office was remodeled so it looks different from the pics but it was for the better!) it was nice seeing the office upgraded and see how much is growing. I do need to say if you're looking for a knowledgeable dentist who has a sense of humor and who's willing to tell you things with no filters Dr Sharifi it's the choice to make. I do not enjoy writing bad reviews and while the dental assistants were phenomenal, the tactics in which this dental office uses are far from great. I called in as a new resident to the area looking for a standard cleaning and check up. I was called the day of my appointment and asked to confirm. I confirmed the appointment, but also wanted to ensure that my visit would result in a cleaning. I was told that my appointment would have to be at 1130am vs. 11am to guarantee that I had enough time. I checked in and waited for my name to be called. The visit was more than an hour and at no time was a cleaning performed, but instead I was given a quote for work that needed to be done. I was quoted two filling replacements and scaling (which is a deep cleaning). The fillings were $30 each and the scaling was nearly $400. I left this visit without a cleaning and paid $50 towards my deductible. The office made an appointment with me to complete my fillings; I felt that $30 each was reasonable, so I accepted. The morning of my filling appointment I had a change of heart as my finances have been horrible since Covid-19, but when threatened with a $100 cancellation fee, I decided to follow through with the appointment. I was presented with a waiver when I arrived. The waiver essentially stated that if the dentist finds anything while replacing the fillings, she would need to address the issue and I would be responsible for the extra charge. (The waiver basically just gives the office permission to overcharge you for ANYTHING they decide to tell you was needed after the fact). The fillings were completed and before I began to leave I was told that in addition to the $30 per filling, I also was given a medicated treatment because my cavities were deep and it was an additional $60 per tooth, making my total for the visit $180, which was far more than I was originally quoted. I was curious about the "medicated treatment," so I investigated and found that it is something called Limelight, which sells for about $35 for four tubes. The average dental office refers to this as an "infection control fee" and charges $10-$20 per tooth (considerably less than North Coast). The infection control fee is a new up-and-coming trend in the dental industry in an effort to charge more money to the patients. (This treatment is never covered by insurance, which is no surprise because it's unnecessary). Needless to say, I do not recommend this place unless you don't mind paying for additional (and unnecessary) costs. read more

Do yourself a favor and find a different dentist. This practice has THE WORST people ever. First off I would love to mention that Shariffi doesn't like or treat women with any respect. I've witnessed him berate the young lady assistant, and she quit. He also did this in front of patients and the staff. I've seen this dentist twice, I have a dental phobia and he decided to take a patient ahead of me, while I was in severe pain, I wound up waiting at his office for five f'in hours, however his new assistant with all the plastic surgery made sure to lock me into a $11,000 loan while I 'waited'. I left the office I was livid and needed three teeth pulled. They called me at home and begged me to reschedule, which I never should have done. The dentist yelled at me before my tooth extraction, " you're loosing all your molars". This asshole is not my dad, and I am aware that I need them pulled. His hostility didn't help the situation or my fear at all. When I returned for the follow up, and to get a quadrant cleaned for $2,000, he lied to me three times about what he was charging me for ( I have the receipt to prove this) and by this point I was more than done. Charged me $2,000 for the cheapest partial you've ever seen, which btw you can do yourself online for $300. Made me sign for all this, while sick with three abscesses and in pain, without knowing what I was getting into. None of his treatments will work for me, but he's rigid and a know it all, so he won't work with you. During the cleaning, I told the lady I have a dental phobia, so her solution was to talk my f'in ear off the whole time about how she was using the money I paid to take a trip to Bali. So off putting! I don't know this wench but now I'm in serious debt due to Shariffi's loan. So glad the bitch is traveling the world while I struggle with no teeth. Honestly all these people do is think about all the luxury shit they gonna buy, when they look in your mouth. Not one person at this practice cares about their patients, only the money. Definitely a hard pass. PS keep a lookout for the snarky remarks they leave based on my review, cuz that's how they roll! read more

I went for a 9 am apt. As I sat n Lobby as they used a strong chemical smelling cleaner and mopping floors. After about 15 min I asked if I was going to be seen. I was told then the dental hygienist wasn't there yet but they brought in to be seated. I started getting headache, and smell was so strong. I waited another 20 min and ask , is she on her way??? Confused as there was NO communication. She asked me to swish with this brown sluggish substance. I asked what it was and they acted as if I asked for a million dollars. I felt so strange as there was three separate whispering conversations between the staff members. After 45 min and a no show I decided to leave without being seen. For the future ladies: 1)do your cleaning before closing not during work hours when patients are present waiting for treatment. 2) stop your side conversations about the PATIENTS ( we can hear you) !!! 3) keep patient informed of doctor is not coming or running late. 4) as I told you I had allergies and sensitive - people have the right to know what is going into their own bodies it's not a crime to ask.I'm surprised everybody doesn't insist on this. The worst, and most uncomfortable dental experience of my life! I made an appointment and walked into Dr. Tavokoli's North Coast Dental in Oceanside for a basic cleaning as they were advertised on Groupon. I could afford the cleaning so I went over. I walked in the office and waited 45 minutes and left angry without being seen by her or her staff. Desperately needing a cleaning, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled. After being seated in the dental chair and waiting 30 minutes on my second visit, Dr. Tavokoli and her assistant began taking the x-rays of my teeth. After completing my x-rays, the car salesmen hustle began. Dr. Tavokoli tried to tell me i needed a deep cleaning due to my gums receding and it was going to be an extra $100, from the original $99. So now she wants $200 total. Not a huge deal but she was dishonest. My gums were not in poor condition, and actually very healthy. She just didn't want to honor the Groupon price she was advertising and made up a diagnosis to charge me double for a "deep cleaning". After we chatted I decided not to go with her services and walked out as I felt like I was being duped and wanted a second opinion. As a result of walking out, she must have taken it personal as she still sent me a bill in the mail 7 months later for work she never completed! Wow After returning to her office to discuss the bogus bill she mailed me, she became confrontational and hostile and threatened collections actions rather than be professional and rational. This dental office is very cut-throat and desperate for money, as the only patients I've ever seen in her practice (twice visited) were low income MEDI-CARE/MEDI-CAL folks. It felt like a social services office inside. I would not recommend her practice at all. She is not professional nor has the patience to interact with new patients and explain basic procedures and prices. If a new patient is uncomfortable with your "sales pitch" or " personal diagnosis" and wants a second opinion because you seem sketchy and dishonest, then they should not be pressured then later charged, especially when the work was not completed. I literally got up from the reclined dental chair and walked out with the bib on because I felt that uncomfortable with her. After receiving my second opinion at another dentist, (my new dentist) he stated that my gum readings were healthy and I did not in have receding gums and did not need a "deep cleaning" like Dr Tavokoli suggested.
