I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
I had some major damage to my driveway and it was at a point in the summer where pavers were hard to find. I called one place on a recommendation from a friend, but that place couldn't do the job so they recommended North Coast.
North Coast apparently did a drive-by estimate without the estimator even talking to me (I called because I hadn't heard from them in a couple of weeks and apparently they just left the estimate in my mailbox--not even in an envelope). I called back after I found the thing (buried under real mail) and they (okay, the receptionist) assured me the job would be done right so I signed the estimate (desperation) with the understanding that I would get to speak to the manager before they started work.
Never happened.
About a month later, they sent some subcontractor (which was not mentioned in my contract) late one night who had no appointment, no work order, no contract, nothing. The sub called North Coast (at least I was led to believe so) and the person on the other end of the phone assured me the sub was working for North Coast. Under duress, i let them do the job (i had a gaping hole in my driveway where it had collapsed and needed to have something done immediately). The sub, of course, didn't do it right. As far as I know, they filled this sink hole with asphalt and didn't level the driveway. This led to me leaving more messages with the receptionist at North Coast who assured me they would "make the job right." They didn't.
They stopped sealing a month before the end date given on my contract (no idea why because the weather here was unseasonably warm through January and they stopped in September) so the work was never completed. Then they started sending bills for the full job-- three months later-- again, no return calls. I sent them an email, outlining everything and asked that they please set up a time to meet with me to take care of this. Again, no response; just another bill with late fees added.
Seriously? Maybe they gave my driveway some trendy new design treatment that makes it look gray, sloping, and cracked with grass poking through?
I think the most insulting--and telling-- thing is that they haven't tried to contact me (other than the bills--can't wait to see another $15 "late fee" for the work they didn't do).
Probably the worst part is because they screwed around so much, the original contractor who wrecked my driveway in the first place (and agreed to pay after I had to mention lawyers) is now likely going to renege.
