Then we decided to hire Mike as our General Contractor; after that, costs went down and quality skyrocketed. This year I made a point of showing the crew several moss spots in the middle of the driveway before they started. I'd already treated and killed the moss and explained that the leftover residue still had to be physically scrubbed off before sealing. They told me they'd brush it out, which is also exactly what the contract I signed says they'd do: clean the surface with steel brooms to get rid of all debris before sealing. That's not what happened. My security cameras caught the crew making a phone call, walking around, running a weed trimmer, blowing off the surface, and then sealing right over the spots I'd pointed out. No brushing at all. Sure enough, the areas that wouldn't cure were the same spots where the moss had been, and there was mud cracking on top of that where the sealer got laid on too thick. Same exact failure I had the year before. When I brought it up, they basically told me they'd done everything they could and were closing it out. I'd think twice before hiring them, especially if your driveway has any shade or needs prep first. And get every promise in writing.
