She was an excellent teacher. All in all I am very comfortable recommending them to my family and friends. Worst sales team and general manager. Tried to make a deal on a 2025 WRX 2 weeks ago . the process started when I inquired for this car online earlier in the week , stating on my inquiry that I could not talk on the phone during the day and could you email me since I work 10 hour days as I am not allowed to be on the phone during work hours . I got a few basic emails that said call and we can talk. I sent another email back asking some questions. Pretty much those responses were not getting me the information I wanted . So i decided To ask them to give me a phone call after 3:30 on a Tuesday or Wednesday, I never got a phone call.. I decided I would drive drive all the way into the city from Hudson County New Jersey to try to make the deal on early Saturday morning . I was introduced to a salesman who was a very nice guy. But seem to be a little new at the job , we started talking numbers. I knew what I wanted to pay but we were off on the price to make a deal by $200. And after the salesman went back-and-forth to his manager seven or eight times with the deal I wanted , they stayed rock solid for $200. I wanted the car for 41,000 out the door, they would not budge off of $41,200. Then I was like OK I'll pay the 41,200. Then The car I was trading had aftermarket wheels. I asked the salesman if they could swap the stock wheels back on to my trade. I had the stock Wheels . i just needed them swapped and wanted my aftermarket wheels back. He asked the manager and they said, no, but we can get the shop to do it for you and you could pay for it. Which I was shocked they wanted to charge me to do this. I'm buying a $40,000 car and you can't get this done for me as part of the deal. I have done deals like this at other dealerships, on other new car deals. Never had a problem. So I ask how much would it cost me. So the salesman proceeds to calls the service shop and they say they will charge me $250 to swap my stock wheels back on. But they can't do it that day. I was still in shock that they wanted me to pay and could not put it in the deal for me.. Every other dealer has done this for me in deals and never had a problem switching wheels for me at no charge and throwing it into the deal. So i say.... OK, you know what keep my Wheels. I just want the car at $41,200. I was getting very aggravated and frustrated at this point. But I wanted the car. So i said fine lets do this. I was their first customer in the show room on a Saturday morning 9am . I said I want to take the car home today. To my shock, i was told Well you can't have the car today. We have cars in front of you we have to prep to deliver today. You have to come back sometime next week. I looked at the salesman and said I drove all the way from Hudson County New Jersey to buy this car. They still told me no , I had to wait . Now mind you the car was on the showroom floor and was clean and ready to go.. Absolutely terrible. I have never seen a dealer, especially if you're the first customer of the day. Tell me that I could not have the car. To me i though car sales 101 , never let the customer leave . I can understand if it was late at night, but it wasn't. I was the first and only person there.. And if you think I'm not telling the truth about the deal. I have a picture of the work up of the deal with the numbers on it . They Would not budget on $200, would not throw in swapping the stock wheels back on wanted to charge me $250, would not give me the car the same exact day and wanted me to travel back for it later in the week. Never been treated like this at a dealer . And I was polite and calm the whole time. So we did not make a deal. I got up to leave and they did not even try to stop me. I decided I was going to go to another dealer in engelwood NJ . Which I should've just gone to in the first place and not made the trip over to New York. I made a deal in NJ in about 30 minutes, not only did I get a better deal, but I also got an extended warranty for five years, five free oil changes. The dealer volunteered to swap my wheels off my trade-in for free and they threw in the extended armrest on the WRX . I was in and out of the second dealership within three hours. had my new car that day. Koeppel is the worst run dealership I've ever seen in my life absolutely terrible. I never even got a follow up call from the dealer asking if we could figure out how to make a deal. I don't know. Maybe they just didn't like me. Absolutely shocked and disappointed. read more

What just happened to me? In summer 2024 I received the gobsmacking gift of a friend's well-maintained 2015 Forester. In summer 2025, the A/C abruptly quit. Koeppel Subaru told me it was NOT because my co-driver had mistakenly refilled it with the wrong kind of coolant; no, the compressor and condenser had croaked and needed to be replaced at significant expense. It was a hot summer and I was ill-equipped to go comparison shopping, so I sprang for it. As a free perk that came with the replacement (and a couple of worn-out belt and valve replacements), they did a multi-point inspection and told me the car was otherwise in fine shape, brakes, tires, etc. A mere month later--just now--I went back for my mandatory New York State inspection. Partway through, the rep came to me and said, in the hushed tones of a doctor with bad news, "I need to talk to you." The rear brakes, she said, needed to be replaced. They were worn, unevenly, down to 1mm and 4mm. I'd still scrape through the inspection, so it was up to me, but ... who doesn't want top-notch brakes? I'm a little slow. I had the previous multi-point inspection checklist WITH me. But it wasn't till I'd already reluctantly agreed to the job (pricey, but not in the A/C's league) that I actually looked at the details. One month ago, the rear brakes had been recorded at 5mm and 5mm. Since then my co-driver has taken a couple of several-hour road trips, but it's only been a month. Short of participating in drag races, could that increase in wear have happened in a month?? Or . . . did whoever did the free multipoint inspection in July just write down any old number without looking? (Freebies are often worth what you pay for them, but . . . to give a crucial system a clean bill of health without looking would be to give the driver a false sense of security.) Or . . . was the 1 and 4mm reading a fiction, because you can't let a silly goose go without getting a golden egg? So many of us don't know our own cars very well, or aren't paying close attention. We just want to be safe, so we're kind of ripe for the picking. She offered to take me back and show me the measurement on the brake. I declined, not wanting to embarrass them further. I was given a discount for the "discrepancy," and I'm glad my brakes are now top-notch (more important than the fact that my bank account is not), but my trust in Koeppel Subaru definitely took a hit. UPDATE: A car-savvy friend says the one thing that could have worn the brakes unevenly like that in the space of a month is if one of us drove the car some distance with the handbrake on. I dud not (though I admit to starting off like that a couple of times in earlier cars if mine!) , but if I find out that my co-driver did, I'll retract this catty review. UPDATE 2: Neither of us drove with the handbrake on, so the next likeliest explanation is a seized caliper, that is, the mechanism that presses the brake pad against the rotor can get stuck in the "on" position, which would account for rapid, uneven wear (going from 5 to 4 in a month with some longer drives would not be surprising). If that possible cause had been explained to me it would have been plausible and I would probably not have become paranoid. So on that basis, the question "What just happened?" remains but the review gains a star. read more

While I'm happy that other people have had good experiences, I wasn't as lucky. The only positive was the polite and friendly receptionist but the dealer's management really needs to follow though and get their operations in order. Yesterday, my partner called to set up an appointment to visit the dealer to test drive a couple of models. The receptionist confirmed via email and phone that we could see those two models on Saturday at 1:30 pm. We were delayed on the subway due to the aftermath of Ida since the MTA had to clean the debris on the line that took us to Astoria. We texted the dealer that we would be there at 2 pm. They confirmed and said that it was okay. We arrived at the dealer on Saturday, slightly before 2 pm. After checking in with the receptionist at the front desk, we with met one of the sales consultants. Surprisingly he said that there were no cars on the lot available test drive and went to check if there were other options. He came back saying that there was one car but we would have to come back later in the week because it was a weekend and they could only offer one test drive. What kind of poorly managed, unorganized dealer are they running? What was the point of making that appointment and showing up if they couldn't even bother to check and notify me in advance? Getting to Queens from Washington Heights, Manhattan isn't easy and with the earlier storm there were subway delays of 20+ minutes, meaning that it took almost 2 hours for me to travel to their dealer. They really didn't value my time, so I'm no longer going to offer them any more of it. read more

On a whim, I tried Costco auto program, since I heard other friends use costco's service. Koeppel is on their list of dealers that work with Costco, and it's not too far from where I reside. I got contacted by Meeza who handles the costco sales and was given a good price on a subie I wanted in the trim and color I wanted for my early lease trade in. Despite covid, the process of setting up the appointment all the way to finalizing paperwork with Meeza and Maureen in finance dept. was a pleasant experience. I was not pressured into any "extras" and my monthly is reasonable. 2 days later, NYC is hit with record snowfall from a nor'easter. I get to put the subaru to test in the inclement weather. Suffice to say, I can see why others rave about the handling and the awd of Subaru. Big piles of snow from plows are no match for the lift and ride height. I would strongly recommend making an appointment with him if you are looking to buy/lease a Subaru. I got the new Crosstrek and I love it already. He took time to explain all of the ins/outs of each of the features. My only issue with the entire experience is that it took longer than I expected. Turns out I had another issue which they fixed free of charge. Usually expensive to fix and my car just came out of warranty. Even if they didn't fix it for free, I would definitely have come back as they were honest, friendly and accommodating. This was just the gravy on top. Surely more expensive than other mechanics but exceptional service. I have been to plenty of Subaru dealership repair shops but none as friendly and accommodating as this one. This car was the second Subaru I had gotten from the Subaru Dealer located on Northern Blvd. Once again, I cannot say enough good things about every person I encountered at the Service Dept. Everyone is professional, helpful and polite. I was fortunate enough to be taken care of by Milena, who is delightful. She is very knowledgeable and professional. Milena answered all of my questions and kept me posted on when my car would be ready. She is a great asset to Subaru!! She was no longer working there, but in her absence my partner and I were met by Meeza Odair whose energy and attitude we were excited about immediately. The exchange was seamless. Would totally do business with her again, because to be quite honest the other folks I'd been talking to or emailing were coming off too "salesy", not listening and not trying to meet me half way. I own a 2015 Legacy that needed a new windshield. After researching, I read an article on Subaru website where there is an extended warranty on windshield cracks. So if you have a Subaru Legacy around 2015 you may be eligible. Called Koeppel (TODAY 3/27/19) and they knew Nothing about it. Was even transferred to the manager and he was super rude and just soo arrogant and confident that nothing like this existed and I was wasting my time. Even after I gave him the vin # he said NO, not eligible I have your file Right Here. He tried to hang up on me and skim through the Subaru corporate phone number without giving someone enough time write it down. The absolute worst customer service from a manager. Called up corporate and sure enough there's a valid recall, gave them my vin # and they said yep, you're eligible. Called up Subaru in Long Island at Grand Prix, very very friendly and knew exactly what i was talking about, and confirmed I could come in anytime to have it checked out and replaced. So thanks Grand Prix Subaru for keeping my faith. If Koeppel was held accountable for their customer service, they would be out of business. They all need a vacation and a coffee and some TRAINING on how to speak to customers. Part II Continued disappointment with the service center. I originally went to Koeppel Subaru service center for 3 things... Low beam Headlight replacement (under extended warranty), NYS Inspection, and oil change. After few minutes later the service advisor (M.P.) tells me I won't pass my inspection due to low tire tread. I decided to skip inspection since it wasn't due for another month. After 2 weeks I went to a local shop for another NYS inspection and had no problem passing with my existing tires. You guys are just one disappointment after another... trying to sell tires when there's still good milage left in them. In the future I will not go to a Subaru service center, there just want your money and don't know much to service their own cars. It's best to find a local service center who is more knowledgeable and honest. Sergey was very pleasant, professional, helpful and thorough. He went above and beyond also helping with a car seat and luggage cover. I have been able to email Sergey questions afterwards too and always get helped which is wonderful. The play room was incredibly handy as I was in the showroom by myself with my 4yr old. The coffee machine got me through my 5 hrs there. Jose Lopez was also great. Very patient and comprehensive. The only curve ball was the MANY extra charges at the final part of the process to protect the car each month - dent protection, tire and rim protection etc etc. This on top of already paying full coverage insurance. I am a very careful driver but am bracing myself for huge charges when the lease is up for normal wear and tear. I did spring for the dent protection since I cannot control if the car gets hit while parked on a NYC street. However, tire and rim protection would have nudged the monthly payments to over $400 a month, so I am risking going with out it and parking a foot from the curb every time! read more
