We have had an amazingly good experience with North Coast Blind Co from start to finish. We went to the store to browse and were shown some things, had a chat, and felt immediately that the salesperson/owner had a lot of knowledge. Because finding a time to come out was proving difficult, they offered to come to our condo right then. They brought samples, measured, and we ordered right on the spot. Had kitchen blinds installed a few months back. Sales rep that came out assured us that the blinds were under warranty and that any defects would be taken care of by their crew. I asked if that meant they come out to service the blinds, she replied yes. 3 months later we are having issues with the blinds :( when I called to request a service call to repair the blinds I was informed there are service call fees. Some warranty on $1800 kitchen blinds. Don't waste your time.. get your blinds at Home Depot or Lowe's. No special services here.. read more

Unfortunately my experience with North County Blind reads like a comedy of errors and it has been some time since I have experienced such poor customer service. My installation was quite basic but required the Technician to come out three times. The first time was because he had brought the incorrect battery pack and the second time he pulled the blind down with force compromising the motor. He was late 2 of the 3 times, the last time by over 2 hours with only 30 minutes notice. This caused me to have to take additional time off and I don't think it was unreasonable bearing in mind the inconvenience to request a discount. Especially bearing in mind that it took them 3 months to install a single blind! When I complained the Project Manager response was for them to take it down, and when I elevated it to the Owner she offered nothing more than endless excuses culminating in telling me that I should have worked at home while accommodating their tardiness. She did say she would seek a partial refund from the Manufacturer which actually was the innocent bystander in the whole ordeal. I have yet to hear anything at all, not even a courtesy call to inform me what transpired or well... to just apologize! As an Architect in a large private practice I deal with many supplies, installers and contractors, so I believe my expectations are realistic, so I feel comfortable committing to a public forum my disappointment. I will never step foot into this place of business again.  After taking time out of my busy schedule to drop off one of my broken Hunter Douglas blinds.  The second I opened the door I was greated with this very unprofessional reproach, accompanied with a your bothering me type attitude by the two young ladies in the front, who were clearly annoyed that I was interrupting social hour. I was shopping around for new blinds for my small business and met with a few companies before finding North County Blinds, but their customer service is what really sold me. I initially met with Andrea for a quote- she took her time, worked with my budget, and even offered opinions on colors and styles. She explained it's typically a three week wait from when they send out the order for parts to time of installation, but they had a last minute cancellation and were able to get us in the day after the parts arrived! Yelp doesn't allow a zero star, so I gave it 1. Do not use the is company. Repeat: there is no worse customer service in the industry. A simple repair on a warranty covered blind requires a dozen calls, 3 home visits, and a month long delay. How this company has stayed in business is shocking. While the house was under construction I spoke with them about how to pre wire for power to the blinds. When they installed the blinds they left with the wires hanging disconnected. When I asked them about it they said they just assumed I'd hook up the wires. They'd be happy to recommend an electrician to connect the blinds. Fortunately they had a change of heart and are going to take care of hooking up the blinds. read more

Unfortunately when they removed my old blinds and valances and they broke all the clips off the valances. They told me I could keep my old valances. However since they broke the clips they never came back to put the valances on. I had to follow up multiple times and eventually they came out. However they didn't have the right clips. So now they mailed me the right clips but they won't come back out to put the valances on. Now I now have to hire someone else to do it. What a pain. read more

I called and spoke with Michael about a broken blind that I had bought ten years ago and needed replaced. He told me that maybe it could be fixed and to bring it in. I drove over the next day and he was there. He opened up the end of the blind and voila, it was fixed. Magique! I needed new brackets to attach to the blind and he not only found them, but he put them on as well. All was done as a courtesy service to their clients. I don't live near Encinatas but I knew that they might have a wood valence clip so I drove by. Normally these clips- assuming you can find the right style- costs around 2 or so each. I brought a picture of the clip to the person I met ( I don't recall here name) and she found three clips for me. That was great. What was more surprising is that she did not charge me for it even though I wanted to pay. She said, it is my pleasure and pay it forward. This may have been a small deal for them but to me it was something totally unexpected. Wonderful experience with Andrea of North County Blinds. We purchased Hunter Douglas duette shades for 3 windows. Andrea was great to work with, she explained our options and took the measurements. She said delivery would be about 2 weeks and that's when they came in. I don't remember the installers name but he was great - removed the old vinyl blinds and installed the new HD shades in about 1/2 hour. The shades have transformed the look of the windows and they go up and down with a light touch. Will use them again when we install new shades on sliding doors. read more

But the icing on the cake is one year later when I couldn't maneuver the blind the technician, Moise, walked me through how to take it down so I bring it in and avoid a service charge. Sent him pics of brackets and he walked me through it. So patient and kind! Turns out it, before I brought it in I figured it out and it was my own stupidity. The blinds work just fine. 2 stars because I do love my window coverings BUT the whole process of getting them was a pain. I liked my sales gal but her availability was very limited and they wouldn't let anyone else work with me. And her vacation time and limited availability contributed to quite a long delay in getting my window coverings. The wood shutters alone took 7 weeks (when they promised 4-6 weeks). And i felt like i had to come up with new ideas and wasn't given creative ideas from them. I was embarrassed in their little shop when trying to explore more cost effective solutions. Mary was wonderful designer and gave me great advise. The short wait time was a major plus, as they were manufactured in Sacramento, not China. Very interesting to read these reviews. Most are 5 stars, full of high praise for the staff as well as the Hunter Douglas products. I could certainly give HD products 5 stars. However, I took my business elsewhere in a quick moment due what seemed to me a reluctance on the part of the saleswoman to explain various window treatment options. The woman showed absolutely no interest in getting my business and seemingly little enthusiasm for the products. I would say she had a 1 star attitude. (Sorry). We all have "bad days" but regardless of her reasons. I simply left the showroom, which by the way, smelled strongly of onions from a staff member's lunch. I would not go back. If one wants Hunter Douglas, there are other showrooms found by googling. read more

We originally purchased window coverings from North County Blinds 20 years ago for two sliders, one kitchen window and three huge ocean view windows positioned 20' up in our 2-story family room. They did an outstanding job then, so we just went back to them to upgrade everything. The Hunter Douglas quality and value cannot be beat. And North County has their own installers, not freelancers. Fred and Jared did a perfect job of installing everything. Detail-oriented, precise, clean and professional in every respect. Fred spent 2 hours climbing up and down a 20' ladder, taking time to ensure the wiring and fit for those 3 windows was perfect ... and that the remote control operated them perfectly. And the overall price for everything was quite reasonable and affordable.
