i have a few friends who's son's/daughters take dance classes here., my child has taken classes at the YMCA, at the rec center and in her after school enrichment...all have been nice. Now we joined our friends at "love to dance". we just started mid year after they hosted one of our girl scout troop meetings (what a great idea for a meeting!) almost like a yelp event =) my daughter resisted strongly when i enrolled her ...but she is loving it!!! the staff and Mindy (owner) are super friendly and helpful...they remember each and every person they meet. That shows me how much they care about the students here. I hope that my daughter continues to take classes here and be comfortable in multiple forms of dance. While my goal is not for my daughter to be a pro dancer...they definitely are pumping some of those out of here too! read more

My daughters have been taking lessons here for over a year now and I don't know who loves it more: them or me. The relative new-comer in Carmel Valley dance, Love To Dance has proven that it was able to take all the complaints and kudos from the other studies and make a better product. Mindy, the studio's owner & artistic director is a fantastic teacher and mentor. Craig, the owner & administrator is a breath of fresh air in dealing with business matters. They know what works and are a pleasure to deal with. There is no snottiness and no drama like at other studios. There are no sticks jammed up anyone's butts and the kids aren't treated like dancing cattle in pink tights and toe shoes. It's like a family, but the dancing is taken seriously. It's a comfortable dance studio in a convenient location (right by the Vons shopping center, it's easy to zip in and out for errands during classes). The classes aren't over-filled and the types of classes offered are varied (hip-hop to lyrical to tap to jazz to adult classes, etc). The Annual Dance Concert is by far the most professional I've attended. I guess the most important thing I can say in this review is that all the kids love their classes and their teachers. read more

My daughter has been taking classes since she was 2 1/2 starting in the Magical Morning classes - she is almost 5 and loves, loves "dance class" and Ms. Mindy... I see my daughter light up after all her dance classes and she has learned a ton in the last year since being in a class independently... It will be my daughter's first time performing in the annual dance recital - She's soooo excited! I cant wait to see her class perform their two dances next month... What I love about this studio is that it is not a big studio and your daughter wont get lost in the fluff of pink.... It is an intimate studio that is just big enough for any child to be part of the stage while learning from quality teachers... Mindy is a wonderful, patient and caring teacher and really knows her craft so well... she makes dancing fun for kids and not a chore... She really does make kids "love to dance"... This place does not deserve your business. The owner/ teacher puts on a welcoming face when parents make payments. At other times she is moody and rude to her students and parents. She charges hefty tuition but the studio is cramped and the teaching is mediocre. There are other dance studios in the area that offer better training and facilities. read more

To any parents out there, please DO NOT take your kid to this studio. The owner is mean-spirited and cruel to children. My daughter had been taking classes there for almost a year. Very pricey, but she enjoyed most of the classes, her teachers and friends and I love watching her perform. The problem is the owner ( Mindy) who is fake to your face as long as you're spending that $$$$ but was truly cruel to my daughter behind my back. She talked down to her, patronizing her on her last day and made her cry. I would never forget that. Mindy's ballet/tap class has been great. My daughter started in the Mommy and me class and formed an immediate bond with Mindy. She is truly dedicated to teaching dance and loves working with toddlers. Since my daughter has been in Mindy's class I have seen a tremendous amount of social development and respect for her teacher. Mindy keeps order in the class and provides structure for the kids which I think has been truly beneficial for my daughter's development. At 2, she is now able to follow directions, share, wait her turn...which I know have nothing to do with dance, but it has been great to watch her change so fast. I know if it wasn't for Mindy's class, we wouldn't be where we are today. Besides all that, she walks out of every class saying "Momma, I had so much fun!! " She does all the dance moves at home, sings the songs and talks about Miss Mindy EVERY day! If she had it her way, she would want to go to the studio more than once a week! My daughter loves dancing at Love To Dance Inc. Before she came to this studio she had a huge fear of performing and had many anxieties about being on stage. Not only did the staff, teachers and owner, make her feel welcome but they were so encouraging that she is not afraid to get on that stage anymore. She even decided to try out for the competition team last year and had a blast on the team. She can't wait till next year. She feels so welcome and fearless. We moved to San Diego from the Midwest 2 years ago and toured and tried several studios over 3 months. My daughter was 12 at the time and I let her decide where she wanted to go. She fell in love with the staff and students at Love to Dance. We just finished our 2nd year and she still loves it. Great teachers who know how to keep your child challenged. Classes are not assigned by age but by skill which is a huge bonus. read more

This is not the dance studio for serious dancers. The studio director is not professional and the dance classes lack a lot of technique. It's not very expensive. However you get what you pay for. Lastly, there is a dog at the studio that belongs to the studio director. Not professional to have a dog around small children. read more

My daughter has been taking classes with Mindy and the Love to Dance, Inc company since she 2 1/2 - now she is 11 1/2. She has loved every class that she has taken from Miss Mindy and her teachers over the years. In addition, she is just finishing up her 5th season of competition team. It has been amazing to watch her develop as a dancer and as an individual over the years, and her teachers and friends at the dance studio have attributed to that. My 2 daughters have been dancing recreationally, and now competitively, at Love to Dance, Inc. since 2008, and they have grown to love the art of dance because of the ENTIRE environment at the studio. It is the "entire package" (owners, teachers, parents, fellow dancers and friends) that this studio offers that that have contributed to not only the development of them as dancers, but as kind and caring human beings. We just moved to the area and were looking for a new studio for our daughter. I stopped by to watch a class in session, and from what I could observe I was not impressed. The Instructor seemed almost mechanical in her teaching and did not seem to care about the students. The gentleman behind the counter (Craig?) was almost rude when asked if it was all right to observe a class in session, as if we were trying to steal some sort of trade secrets! We ended up at another local studio and could not be happier. And maybe it is just me, but I think of dance is a healthy activity, so what is with the candy for sale at the studio? read more

Mindy, on the other hand, judges students' behavior by listening to other mothers' comments instead of being there and observing the situation. I just started dance class at Love To Dance this year and I LOVE IT!!!!!! I am taking ballet, Tap/Jazz, and Hip hop and I really like all my instructors. I am not the best at dancing but I have improved so much since the first few weeks of dance. Ms. Mindy has been so patient with me and has encouraged me in so many ways. Ms. Mindy loves to see us so excited and her passion for dance is eminent. I can tell Ms. Mindy cares and notices details because she compliments us dancers on moves or dance positions we finally got down or practiced and struggled to accomplish. Ms. Donna is so sweet, and I enjoy Mr. Mathew's dance classes because he really pushes us to work on our core strength, which is key for all dance. I have just started Hip hop and it is so much fun. If I had enough time to take more dance classes a week I would! Once you start up at this dance studio you feel as if you are part of the dance family because everyone is so welcoming and all the girls in my dance classes are so funny, sweet, and we have each others backs helping each other grow. :) read more

Love to Dance is a great studio where the director, Miss Mindy, cares greatly that the kids are enjoying themselves AND are learning dance, without the disruption of other children who may not be ready for an organized class. Just like preschool or kindergarten, dance class has rules and expectations and that is how Mindy and Craig conduct their studio to produce quality dancers, whether they are 3 yrs old or 16 yrs old. Miss Mindy is talented and very professional and Craig plays a huge role in keeping the business going (and he is Miss Mindy's eyes when she is not there to evaluate a class to see how it may be going). Love To Dance is a great studio based on it's Dance instructors but certainly not based on the owner and her boyfriend who are extremely moody and rude on most days to their customers. They are very unprofessional and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a inviting,wonderful atmosphere for their children to dance in to try one of the many other dance studio's available. Sometimes Convenience of location isn't all it's cracked up to be. These owners have over estimated how much their convenient location has brought in the business. I love to dance. Love to Dance is a place for kids of all ages. It teaches kids ballet, hip hop, tap, and jazz. There is a really cool and helpful hip hop teacher, her name is Miss Rachel. She can teach you a variety of hip hop dances. She is really cool and she gets her groove on. She is really easy and helpful to work with. Also Love to Dance sells a lot of ballet stuff when you need it. I would recommend to go to Love to Dance. If you pay a lot of money it is worth it.
