John Carlson came out that day, and gave me a bid. I thought the numbers looked reasonable, and he started work right away, putting in a ductless HVAC unit. John was professional, and when he finished the installation, it was operating perfectly. Several weeks later, I started having trouble with my HVAC system. The fan was working, but the unit wasn't cooling. I wondered if I was doing something wrong, and looked at some You Tube videos. Nothing I saw, or attempted, seemed to work. It didn't help that this breakdown had happened in the middle of a heat wave, and I seriously doubted a quick fix was imminent. Nonetheless, early this morning I sent a text to John, explaining the situation. Given the excessive heat, I knew how busy he had to be. Despite that, he responded to my text and said he would try and shoehorn me into his schedule. Within hours, he was at my doorstep, and working on the problem. It turned out that the coolant had escaped through a defective flange. The system is now working perfectly, and I'm a cool cucumber despite it being 92 degrees outside. You know you've picked the right HVAC person when they respond with such alacrity to a problem. It might seem that the safe HVAC choice would be one of the big firms that advertises relentlessly on TV. Trust me, though, you'll be happier going with the "little guy" that is GJS Heating and Air Conditioning.

Heard about them through the SDG&E AC Quality care program (an absolute must in San Diego). Alex came out and did the most wonderful job on my 30 year old system getting it running like new! He cleaned the inside and outside of the systems, fixed a number of air leaks and general preventitive maintenance. Alex went above and beyond to help out. After Alex's work, the Air Conditioning system is working so well and blowing cold like it has never before. I could not be happier about ALT. He spent the time to explain what he was doing and why. We were in the process of purchasing our home and needed help with our HVAC. They charged $150 for the inspection but that would contribute to repair cost. The technician, Daniel, came right on time with the appointment and did the inspection. He was very thorough with the inspection and very honest with everything he found. Daniel was very knowledgeable and thoroughly showed me every little problem we had and how to deal with it. He did not seem rushed and was willing to answer all my questions. We scheduled the repair a week before our move and we were on a tight schedule. Daniel and his team were able to remove our old furnaces and vents from the attic and our dual AC unit from the side of our home in one day. It was Rick from Quality First Heating and Air who responded, and he was willing to send immediately a technician to take look. They said he will charge $95 for the inspection but it will later contribute to repair cost. Daniel was the technician, you came right on time with the appointment and did the inspection and figured out our capacitor is blown. Unfortunately, he did not have the correct capacitor, so head to come again next morning before his day started and took care of me. Daniel was very friendly and knowledgeable tech. He was punctual, friendly and very smart with the repair and above all, super quick with work. I will go with Quality First Heating and Air for my next AC repair for sure.
