Initially I met with Mark and he thoroughly spent time I needed getting a full explanation and details of the AC pro system and kept me informed every step of the way and told me about all the different options, including this awesome dual gas and electric heating so I can choose whether I want to use Gas or Solar to heat my home. Our 47 year old furnace finally stopped working. I contacted several companies for estimates to replace furnace, all registers and the thermostat. With the colder temperatures coming, I turned on my Elderly mother's heater to keep her warm during the winter. Unfortunately, all that came out of the vents was cold air. I went into the garage where the heater was and smelled gas. I immediately turned off the unit and the gas to it. I called many HVAC repair companies. Most were booked and couldn't respond till after Thanksgiving (eight days later). One of the companies said they would show up and didn't. I called Steve's # (on Thursday) and left a message. Steve returned my call within 10 minutes. I related the problem to him, and he said he was very busy with the start of the cold weather but could get to my mother's home on Monday. I told him that my mother was elderly and that I was hoping for an earlier response and was going to call around. Steve told me that he would keep the appointment on the books for Monday, and if I booked with another company to give him a call and let him know. I thanked him for his time and hung up. Needless to say, every company I called was too busy or couldn't make it till after Thanksgiving. Because of the cold nights. I figured my mother would stay with me until her heater was fixed. Later in the day Steve texted and said he had a cancellation on Friday (next day), and he could send his tech's over to look at the issue. He asked again for her address, name, phone# etc. I received a call from Steve the next day saying his techs were at the house and my mom wouldn't let them in. I called my mother, and it turned out I texted him the wrong address (1 number off). He laughed and said no problem, I relayed the correct address, and his guys walked across the street to my mother's home. My mother called me in under 30 minutes to tell me how excellent her service was. She stated that his techs were courteous, professional, competent, clean, and a pleasure to deal with. The faulty part was replaced at a very good price. All in all, I whole heartedly recommend Steve's Business. I had a split system in half of my house that just didn't work very well at all. I asked Steve and his crew to try and figure out how we might install a regular FAU system in this part of our house. Even though we were space constrained in where we could locate the new unit, he came up with a plan that was really ingenious. Normally, I invite at least 3 companies to provide estimates and gauge their take on how I should approach a home improvement need. I contacted Steve first based on the great Yelp reviews. Made an appointment and prior to the appointed date/time, he called and informed me that he was coming. When he did arrive, he was properly masked-which is very important to me. He also took off his shoes, which I thought to be quite respectful. We chatted about my needs for a new AC and replacement of the furnace, and Steve took a look around the house and attic. After completing his inspection, he noted that he would send me an estimate in a few hours. Whenever I hear that from contractors, I always think to myself: "yeah, right." Sure enough, within a few hours, Steve kept his word and sent the estimate. We texted a bit regarding the project, and I decided that this was the company I was going to use without the need to contact anyone else. Steve's crew arrived on time the day of the installation, did what they needed to do, and returned the next day to complete the job. I am not an expert on HVAC, but I was shown the final product, and everything looked satisfactory to me. Steve even returned a few days after the job to tweak the furnace to make it more compatible to my needs and mentioned that anytime any tweaks needed to be done, he would be more than happy to come out and do so. Steve and Beau replaced our original furnace and installed a new A/C unit today. Unfortunately for me, this is the 3rd HVAC replacement I've had to endure in the last ten years due to multiple relocations. Fortunately for me, they did an excellent job. The installation was very clean and professional. Prior to installation, Steve never tried to up-sell me on a unit or feature that we didn't need. Even when I asked about a more expensive furnace, Steve explained the daily savings wouldn't out-way the additional cost of the upgrade. Steve also presented multiple options and the cost vs benefit of each. Steve and Beau are not only personable but very knowledgeable and answered every question I had. During the installation Steve went from register to register to test each was producing the correct temperatures. He also installed a new Nest thermostat and walked me through the settings and options. Most importantly, Steve and Beau put up with me hovering around like true professionals. So I know that reviews are usually for work that is done, but this is actually for work that Steve *didn't* do for us. Let me explain . . . . We're in escrow for our house, and our realtor recommended we contact Steve for some repair work since he had done some work for another client of theirs, who said he did an excellent job. The home inspection revealed that our furnace is mounted on wood blocks, and the new buyers wanted the blocks removed since their inspector said that it was a safety/fire hazard. I contacted Steve via email last night when I got home from work, and he called me back less than fifteen minutes later. He explained that it definitely wasn't a fire hazard and was, in fact, the normal way that furnaces used to be mounted for older homes like ours (which is fifteen years old). He also explained that changing out the mounts to metal ones could disrupt the alignment of the system and cause the A/C to not work as well. I asked Steve if he could reply to my email so I could get this all in writing to show to our buyers and their realtor, and he immediately did so. We're still waiting to see if we need to do the work, and, if we need to, we will definitely go with Steve. My rating is thus not based on the work he did, but on how honest he was with us and how generous with his time. He could have just done the work and charged us for it, but instead he took the time to call me back immediately and thoroughly explain the situation. We had a high efficiency HVAC unit in a condo in Carlsbad that was sweating on an exhaust tube causing a very steady water drip. The issue was a shabby warranty PVC repair done by ANOTHER HVAC service company using a rubber boot fix! They took the time to fully check our unit before they closed it up and they noticed a different leak problem elsewhere (cracked fitting) as well.
