I recently had an issue with my Kia Niro EV. I knew it was going to be difficult to fix from reading others' experiences in forums online. Some described experiences where the dealer tried to get out of fixing it. But Robert, the service manager, said it would get fixed, and it did. The repair cost a lot more than what I paid for the vehicle. It was still under warranty, and I didn't have to pay anything, and I was given a loaner vehicle for no charge, and reimbursed for car rentals I had before they had a loaner, and I didn't even purchase the vehicle from them. I was dealing with Sergio, and he was a real professional, and the whole thing took about 2 months, and I wasn't the easiest customer to deal with. My fiance's family and I have purchased a total of 4 vehicles and leased 1 vehicle from this dealership. A year and a half ago when I was in search of a new car, it was an easy option to come here since the family already had a relationship with the dealership. I purchased a used 2021 Sportage which had happened to be turned in 2 days before. Given that information, I had wheel and tire, key and extended warranty to 100,000 miles added to the purchased to ensure that we were covered in case anything came up that wasn't analyzed in the mere 2 days they had had this vehicle. We even drove it off the lot dirty because it hadn't been detailed yet. A year and a half later, I had 3 separate instances where the car slowed down on me to 25 mph on the freeway. I was able to get it looked at each time, run engine cleaner and change the oil (even though, it wasn't time for my oil change). Once it happened the third time, I had it towed to this dealership and told them the codes that popped up on my last incident. I am not a typical girl who is ignorant to cars and their function/operation. I have worked on machinery myself and already knew this was an issue with the engine. Luckily I was only at 90,000 miles so is something that is still to be covered under warranty. It looks a week and half and "tentative approvals of $750 (until warranty covers the claim)" for them to tell me what I already knew: I needed a new engine. After a week without a vehicle (here in San Diego, with 2 jobs, where public transport is just not an option) I asked about a courtesy vehicle. They said they couldn't offer that until the Kia claims department arranged for the engine swap. Instead, Kia claims authorized a rental credit of $35/day (with me still out of pocket by $16 a day) for 4 days until they could determine responsibility. Once the engine swap was approved, which was a surprise to NO ONE, they extended the rental for only one more week. I asked 2 more times about a courtesy vehicle; because I wasn't thrilled that I was paying out of pocket at all. THIS IS WHAT I GOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO PROTECT ME FROM. I was told "you're already getting a credit, so we're just going to keep you in the rental". I was also told at one point that "they don't do that"-- referring to offering loaner vehicles. I finally picked up my car with a new engine after over a month of not having it and now I am being told they are only covering the vehicle for two weeks, telling me that "that's 5 more days than I should have gotten". Essentially, the dealership took more than the 2 days allotted for the engine swap (and the repair department DID inform me that it could take "weeks" not days...). So this delay is not covered and now I am being told I have to pay for a whole week and some change on this rental that I shouldn't have had to pay for in the first place BECAUSE I HAD A WARRANTY!!! Now I am being (once again) ping-ponged back and forth between the dealership and the Kia claims department for the extra rental credit I deserve. Unfortunately I keep tabs on and write legal contracts for a living so I am disgusted by the amount of time I have wasted on the back and forth and keeping tabs. I will say that Robert (the manager) was helpful in getting some of the process and moving it along; and Stephanie (from the repair department) is a gem and I know she took some heat and frustration. The gentleman who sold me the vehicle was also sweet but he doesn't even work there anymore. And these 3 people are the only reason this is a 2 star and not a 1 star review. Because this has been hell on earth for the past month and I will not change a word on this review on any platform until someone gets back to me on this. Enterprise still hasn't charged me and I am NOT paying $400 when I paid thousands for an extended warranty, I'm sorry. With the amount of Lemon Law issues Kias have I am SHOCKED they weren't more diligent with the situation. (And by the way- don't buy a Sportage EVER- they have known issues, I now know). read more

I leased an EV9 from this dealership. Besides having several recalls the car has been in the shop 6 times to try to fix a glitchy. I have been consistently told that the car has no stored codes and they cannot replicate the error. I have documented the glitch through several videos. Communications was poor and I frequently had to call and nudge the service advisor to call Maxcare to resolve the warranty info they needed from them. Car was there for weeks. Finally got it back and it was filthy and someone put a box or something on the hood while it was in the Kia service lot and deeply scratched the paint. (Which is a good thing ha) I drove all the way from Chula Vista because this store had fewer mark ups and bogus fees. There were still a few, but they agreed to remove them. I later decided to cancel the warranty and requested a refund, which is a standard process. The issue is not the cancellation itself--it's the complete lack of response. I have reached out multiple times via email and follow-up requests, and I have not received any confirmation that my cancellation has even been submitted. No updates, no communication, nothing. This is extremely frustrating because this is a financial matter, and customers should not have to chase a dealership just to process a basic request like a warranty cancellation. At this point, I am being forced to escalate the situation and contact the warranty company directly, along with consumer protection channels. If you're considering purchasing a warranty here, I would strongly recommend getting clear written confirmation about the cancellation process upfront--or reconsider altogether. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Kia Escondido's service department. My 2025 certified Kia K4 with only 10,000 miles has ongoing intermittent stalling issues. A technician confirmed the issue by replicating it, yet Robert Torres, the service manager, stated that because no diagnostic codes appeared, they are unable to repair the vehicle. It is unacceptable for a nearly new car with a confirmed stalling problem to be left unresolved. This is a serious safety concern. If zero stars were an option, that's what I would select. read more

This is regarding the service department , not the sales department. However, if you purchase a car here, you might find yourself in the service department and should be warned... I brought my car in for a serious safety issue -- it randomly shuts off while driving and idling. This is the SAME problem that was supposedly repaired under warranty less than a year ago. Their response? "Nothing is wrong with your car." Meanwhile, the engine stalls and I have to turn the key completely off and back on to restart it -- which has happened while I'm on the road. That is not normal. That is dangerous. Instead of taking it seriously, doing a real diagnostic, or acknowledging this as a repeat failure, I was brushed off and told to call a manager later. No urgency. No accountability. No concern for the fact that a vehicle shutting off in traffic could cause an accident. If your car has an intermittent problem, especially one tied to a prior warranty repair, be prepared to advocate for yourself -- because this dealership will default to "can't replicate, nothing wrong" and send you on your way. Incredibly frustrating experience and very disappointing handling of a legitimate safety concern. I am about to leave here with my car and I am absolutely terrified to drive home. read more

can I give them negative 5 stars? my wife and I bought a soul from them 2 years ago and it didn't come with an antenna, when I called and asked about it i was essentially told I was lying and they would replace it but shouldn't have to because it had one on it. Yes im in the business of stealing car antennas. Second, the person who takes the papers to the DMV didn't do their job so 4 months after we purchased our car I had to spend 3 hours at the DMV to do the job they should have. fast forward to about 2 months ago and said car starts acting odd, we take it in and are told it needs a new engine and it was covered in warranty. we were told it would take about 2 weeks, it took 7 weeks. The day I picked up the vehicle I gave them their rental back and that was that. 6 hours later I get a call that the rental vehicle was scratched and I would need to pay for it or turn it into insurance. I did not return a scratched vehicle so I refused. also when I picked up the car I was told when the new engine went in they chanced all our belts and hoses and it would cost us 500 bucks. Neither me not my wife authorized that at all. I called the manager the next day and explained to him the car was not scratched I was not paying for work I didn't authorize. he then asked me if I was trying to skip out on my responsibility of fixing the car and paying for the work. calling me a liar. Now to top it all off, 3 weeks after getting the car back the right headlight doesn't work and the check engine light is on... DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT COME TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANYTHING. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. Update on Wednesday June 5th I took my car in to have engine looked and and headlight fixed. The service manager claims they didn't mess up the headlight so they refuse to fix it. I ask about my engine and he says he has to look at it because of previous work other wise they would refuse to work on my car. They screwed up my car, broke the headlight and refuse responsibility. To start with, my salesperson John S. was without a doubt one of the very best I have had the good fortune wot work with. John listened, asked the right questions, provided great responses and feedback and deferred to his leadership for questions that he wasn't familiar with. (Frustrating when individuals feel insecure and provide incorrect or nebulous responses when they are uncertain.) John also understood what it would take for me to purchase and he did a wonderful job helping obtain a very good deal. Along with great salesperson experience, much appreciation and kudos to Finance Manager Omid Z. who was clear, concise, and efficient - I have never had an easier, more pleasant closure when purchasing a new vehicle. We go in. Service Advisor Daniel ends up quoting us well over $900 to repair a door lock actuator. Based upon my research, this is way out of line for both hours, hourly rate, and part cost. First, quoting a $190/hour labor rate. Second, quoting $250 for a part I can walk into Kearny Mesa Kia and buy for $159. Third, research indicates quoted repair hours are far less to repair. Fourth, research does not support $190/hour. We were able to argue Daniel down to $660 total (should we have to do this?!). We take care of back in for the the repair. Daniel is busy. Different service advisor helps us. Says he might be able to get it warrantied. Sure enough, zero charge for repair. So, this was nothing more than an illegal shakedown by Daniel. He didn't even attempt to warranty repair. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP!!! read more

0 STARS!!! The people that work at this dealership are the most miserable excuses for "customer service" representatives in all of San Diego county. I bought a Kia from a dealership near San Diego, due to availability, they gave me a ford maintenance package and I went to Mossy Ford near pacific beach for my first several services. Now that I am coming here I've had NOTHING but ISSUES. They have NEVER ONCE reset my service interval, I ALWAYS have to ask them to. They charge an OUTRAGEOUS amount for things. For example, they quoted me $1000 to get my windshield replaced and only after I spoke with Jose (the only competent human in the building) he was able to give it to me for less than they originally quoted. The previous time I went (today) I needed to get an oil change and get my blinker diagnosed, I TOLD the representative this when I arrived in the service area and was sitting in my car. But he got distracted with my blinker issue and forgot all about the oil change. He called and quoted me $1000 to replace the blinker, which is ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. I drive a KIA, not a f**** BMW!! I said never mind, and I will just come get my car. I arrived and they had not done the oil change like I asked them to. When getting in my car, my blinker worked, so THEY ARE LIARS. IT DIDNT EVEN NEED FIXED AND THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME almost $1000!!! NEVER COME HERE, these people are absolute THEIFS and are a disgrace to customer service representatives and the KIA brand as a whole. Because of this sole experience I will NEVER buy a kia again and I will forever tell EVERYONE it was the worst decision I EVER made. Not to mention I'm underwater on my expensive car payment over 10k. The sales department is good probably because after all they want to sell you a car. Their service department however, leaves a great deal to be desired. I took my brand new 2025 car for service but they informed that there was nothing wrong with the navigation system. I returned a few days later to show them that I was having an issue again with the Navi system but they couldn't see me because I had no appt and they were very busy. I then made an appointment again. They again told me that without verification of the problem they could not help me. I had done a lot of research and suggested that they trouble shoot the GPS system but they said there was nothing wrong with it. They suggested I return when the system was malfunctioning. I informed them that I had done that but they wouldn't see me because I had no appointment and they were busy. I told them to please check the navigation component and trouble shoot it but they essentially refused. I talked to the service manager and he said without an example of what was wrong, they could not help me. I left and when the navigational system started to malfunction again, I called for an appointment but they refused to give me one without the approval of the service manager. I left a message to have him call me but he never bothered to return my call. The Kia Corporation has given me a ticket number and they are researching it. It might be that my car's software needs an update which is not yet available. In any case the reason I bought a brand new car was to prevent mechanical problems. It's a shame that this dealership's service department is so poor! read more

I want to start by expressing my appreciation for Thomas, who sold me my 2025 Kia K4. He was fantastic--friendly, helpful, and made the sales process enjoyable. However, the finance experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. When we arrived to finalize the deal, the price had changed from what we were originally quoted. After negotiating, we settled on a number that was close--just a $20 difference in the monthly payment--but it still wasn't what was promised. A week after taking the car home, I was contacted via email requesting a pay stub, which I had already submitted during the test drive process. They also asked for references and a letter verifying my address. Due to the physical nature of my job, I wasn't able to provide this immediately, and I explained that I don't have a typical 9-to-5 office job. Despite making this clear, there seemed to be little consideration for my circumstances. Once I finally submitted everything, I didn't hear back--until another week later when I received an email on May 1st at 12:06 PM stating that I needed to complete a customer interview with the bank. The email listed the bank's business hours (Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM) but didn't give a specific deadline or timeframe. Because I work during those hours and got off after the bank closed, I wasn't able to complete it on the same day. To my shock, on the morning of May 2nd, I received a notice that the finance deal had been canceled and that I needed to return the vehicle immediately. My family, co-signer, and I were completely confused and upset, trying to reach someone for an explanation. Eventually, Sasha, the finance representative, told us that the bank made the decision due to the missed interview. We then called the bank ourselves, completed the interview, and were told everything was good on their end. When we asked about the letter, they had no record or knowledge of it and advised us to speak with the dealership. We tried contacting Sasha again with this information and received no response. When my mom followed up via text explaining that the interview had been completed and the bank had no knowledge of the letter, Sasha simply replied asking if the interview had been done--as if we hadn't just said that. This experience felt disorganized, dismissive, and highly unprofessional. It's disappointing to have such a poor experience after purchasing a brand-new vehicle. My wife and I pulled in to North County Kia to check out the Kia Carnival. We were met by Quiency - or "Q" - when we walked up to the door. Our experience with Q was great. He was super helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable on the car we were interested in. We never felt pressured or overwhelmed when working with him. After about a week of talks, we finally decided to pull the trigger. Unfortunately the detailing team had already left for the day as we made our purchase later in the evening, but Q went above and beyond to clean up the car for us while we worked on the paper work. After sharing with the Sales person that we appreciated him not pushing too hard on us, he and his manager proceeded to do a classic sales manipulation as seen on movies. First of all, they tell us the car we want is not available - it's a Unicorn they declare! (not really - I didn't think it was that unique). Then lo and behold, the manager is on the phone and says that we are so lucky - the car we want is on the truck and on its way and will be delivered tomorrow. We've been around the block - my husband smelled a rat from a mile away. Onto the financing. Why call an apple and orange? Their "2-step process" when explained was...no surprise - a lease - why not call an apple and apple? They kept wiggling out of just telling us how much we would pay for the car and wanting to get it all muddied with the financing numbers. Also they went on to say they are such a great dealership that they don't let any of their cars leave the lot without the protective coating - that's it's so important they make sure all their cars have it- like it's something they throw in for free.. wrong! It's an extra $3800 that we, the buyer pays for. So after when we got home, both my husband and I felt manipulated. I much rather a straight up sales person - just tell me what you can do for me, give me the straight up cost and I will tell you if I can pay it. The loan is something else we work on the side - not something you use to try to confuse us about what we are actually paying. All in all, our sales person Mycah was personable and friendly. His manager, shifty. All in all - we don't trust them and won't be back. They got 2 stars because they didn't try to keep us for 3 hours like the last dealership I dealt with for my sister who were trying to break us down psychologically. Also Mycah kept making sure we had water and happily ran around letting us look at cars without impatience or being overly pushy. However, the whole tag team, number fog they tried to throw at us in the end was a disappointment. Dealers - just be straight up with us. No games. Seriously! read more

My son leased A Kia EV9, he recently had new born baby and they also have a toddler, so he leased this UV9 to support his family. He only had this new car for maybe 3 weeks. The night his wife went into labor and was about 3 weeks after receiving this EV9. Which the car was hardly driven because she was 8 months pregnant About 4 hours after his second child was born, he went home to pick up his 2-year-old and take him to the hospital to meet his little brother. On the way back to the hospital the KIA EV9 just stopped running, it was fully charged. My son pulled over to the right on the busy Freeway with no power to the car, it just stopped running, could not make it to an exit. He called the police, they sent a tow truck, it took around one hour. He was sitting on the busy freeway with a 2-year-old in the car waiting for a tow, car could not move at all. Very scary night. Cost him $300 for the tow He reported this to KIA, and they did not even show any concern. About two days later he received a letter for a call back saying on this model that the engine has problems, just stopping for no reason. Kia knew about this dangerous problem and never told my son. What the heck, they knew about this issue and Kia still lease him a car knowing about this this problem. KIA put my family in danger and when he called them to report what happen they said yes there is an issue with the engine. Kia said bring it in and we will fix it. It took 2 weeks and they still charge full month lease. My son could have gotten hurt; my 2-year-old grandchild could have been killed if they were hit by oncoming traffic while sitting there on the freeway for one hour. I'm so upset. Kia finally serviced the car and supposedly fixed the engine due to a recall after the fact. But when asked to refund the $300 for the tow we heard nothing. To this day there has been no response from KIA. I am writing this review because my son felt no one got hurt that night, but I am really pissed off because KIA knew about the problem and never let him know. Kia did not care but it could have been a lot worst. If they only told people about the engine problem when they knew, he would have never taken EV9 out. My son only leased this car for 3 years; we will never buy a KIA especially after reading all the horrible reviews and what happen that night and Kia's lack of concern. read more
