SERVICE DEPARTMENT REVIEW - This isn't meant to blast the good folks in service, more of a suggestion. Clearly someone needs to be in charge of greeting customers as they pull into the drive and wait to be assisted. Unfortunately, not one person made eye contact or even acknowledged that I was there. It's awkward just standing there feeling ignored while waiting for help. The valet guys were mostly standing around looking at their phones. A simple "Hello, someone will be right with you" would have gone a long way. Once I was finally assisted, the staff was great and very professional, so this really comes down to first impressions. Customer service starts the moment a customer arrives. Hiring a greeter -- or simply encouraging staff to acknowledge customers and SMILE -- would make a huge difference. read more

I have a 2025 Tacoma that was purchased about 14 months ago, well within the Toyota Care limit and the manufactures warranty. On my last scheduled service, I told the technician that the front windows have screeched ever since I bought the vehicle. He looked at it during the service, said he knew what the problem most likely was and furthermore, that's it's a commonly known defect with Toyotas windows. Despite all of this, I would have to make a separate appointment to have them officially looked at. I went in today for my appointment and was immidiately told I had to pay a $200 inspection fee. When I objected, they said it's technically only signing for liability, and if they determine the issue was due to "external forces" then I'd have to pay the fee. So essentially they can determine anything at all is wrong with the vehicle outside of Toyotas control and I'd have to pay. So despite the issue being present since purchase, me having documented conversations with a technician who knows the problem, and the fact that you can literally hear the window screech up and down as I talk to the employees, they want me liable for $200. What's the point of 2 years of Toyota Care and a warranty if you have to pay to use it? read more

TLDR: Went in for a simple oil change (with an appointment) in the morning, left 5 hours later and sat in rush hour traffic. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Went in with an a 10AM appointment for just an oil change. I specifically told them I just needed the oil as I mainly do things at another shop but needed to get in sooner. I show up at 930, didn't get approached by any service advisors till 1015. Told them I just needed an oil change and everything else I would do elsewhere. They seem to understand and gave me an estimate of about 2 to 2 1/2 hour wait (which is already crazy for an oil change). 12PM goes by, 1PM flies by and at this point I'm trying to call and text my advisor to get a status update. Nothing. Then he calls me and asks me to fill out the online form for the maintenance. I fill it out and see they want to change my air filters for both cabin and engine. I said "meh might as well while I'm here", I approve the actions via the online form, then I get another call. He informs me that the prices he gave me did not reflect any of the service hours that were required to install those parts. Fun fact if we change your air filter out yourself, it takes maybe 2 1/2 minutes and the cabin filters just the same. So I said " you know what never mind I'll just do it myself" which seemed to stun the advisor as if he had never heard that before in his life. Another hour goes by and then another hour goes by at this point I'm extremely irritated because I have my toddler with me and at this point, I've exhausted all my resources for him as I didn't realize I was gonna be at the dealership for five hours for a simple oil change. I try to find my service advisor and he's nowhere to be found. I find another service advisor and ask if he can look the status up for my vehicle. He acted as if I was trying to have him part the seas. I finally see my truck come around the corner and they park it. I ask who do I pay to get out of here? They direct me inside to the parts desk. So I go to the parts desk and ask, can I pay for my vehicle? The parked desk, then pointed me back outside. Then I find my service advisor and ask him if I could pay so I can get out as I have been there almost 5 hours. He says he's waiting for someone else to finish the paperwork and finalize it so that I could be charged. At this point, I'm livid. I see my truck I wanna get out. I had been there all day. I made a morning appointment because I had things to do that day. It was just an oil change. I've never had an oil change take five hours. I don't know what games this dealership plays, but I'm not about it and I will never go back. No one seems to know what's going on. No one can give you a full answer and if you ask questions, they just play the runaround game with you and send you anywhere else but the correct person you need to see. My wife had an appointment the same day at 2:30 so I called her and had her cancel as I didn't want her to be here till 12AM getting her oil changed as well. This is by far the worst dealership experience I've ever had. I could tell I wasn't the only one there that was upset by this as I was walking around the waiting area and everyone else seem to be irritated and on the phone talking with people about how long they had been waiting there for simple routine maintenance. We were actually in the market to buy a new Toyota as well, but after this experience throughout the entire dealership, I will never come back, and I will recommend that nobody goes to this dealership for any type of service. I wish there was another word stronger than atrocious to describe this dealership. read more

They are both such earnest professionals and make the transaction feel familial and personal. Both of them collectively share two decades at this dealership and there is clearly a strong bond between all of the people that work here. I had the best experience at this dealership while buying my first car! I've been searching for a specific Camry for several months and I finally saw that one was in the build phase at the beginning of the month. I was connected with Joaquin after submitting a form online and I put a deposit down to secure the car. After that, he did a great job keeping me up to date every week about where the car was in the delivery process. Once the vehicle was delivered we got an appointment scheduled so I could come in to test drive and potentially buy it. When my partner and I showed up on the day of my appointment everyone at the dealership was really friendly. Throughout the entire car buying experience, from the test drive, to the paperwork, to the signing of papers with finance, I never felt pressured or rushed into anything. Joaquin and Steve were both very professional, patient, and were happy to answer all the random (and many) questions I had. I purchased a Certified 2022 Prius, but "certified" clearly doesn't mean certified at this dealership. Within days, the gas door wouldn't open and the car wouldn't take fuel. From the start, the dealership was shady on the contract. They quoted me one price, but the final paperwork showed a completely different price. When I spoke up, instead of addressing it professionally, they got angry and ultimately broke the contract--clearly because honoring it didn't benefit them. After contacting Toyota Corporate, the dealership escalated their hostility. They were rude, confrontational, and even threatened to call the police while I was on the phone explaining the situation. Alina Herrera Assistant Service Manager was such a help to us! We were having a service problem with our Toyota Yaris that we had towed to Toyota Escondido due to an engine problem! We had in our possession our "Toyota Certified Vehicle Service Agreement" which granted us free vehicle service on our Yaris through 2030. The problem turned out to be carbon coating the valves in the engine. They stated that this would not be a free service because there was no broken parts causing the engine problem and it would cost us $975.00 to fix the problem! A were aghast and decided to call Toyota of Temecula to get a 2nd opinion. That's when Assistant Service ManagerAlina Herrera who listened to our problem and gave us wonderful advice! She tried calling on the phone to the Head Toyota Office to ascertain what our options were and if there should not be any charges on our Toyota Care Policy. Unfortunately, the office is closed weekends.Ms. Herrera advised us to not have the work done on our car and call the Head Office on Monday. Even when we told we would start having our services completed at Toyota Carlsbad for various reasons, she was not fazed and continued helping us and saying if Carlsbad didn't work out to come see her, to which we readily agreed! In short, we feel that Ma. Herrera should be commended and compensated for the excellent work she does at Toyota of Temecula!! read more

Simple questions were not answered directly, and critical details were repeatedly withheld. Service sucks lots of workers running around and car gets back and sits in parking lot for 10 mins before they call you it's ready

The service pricing structure that this dealership uses ( and perhaps all Toyota dealerships as well) can be ridiculous in some cases so be careful and do your homework before having them work on your vehicle. My case in point is the cost of cleaning an EV battery filter on my Avalon. The EV battery filter in my vehicle and I believe other Toyota vehicles is located behind a panel below the rear passenger side seat. There is one plastic snap in connector to remove so it takes less than a minute to remove the panel which has the filter attached. This filter is easily cleaned with a vacuum or by blowing compressed air through. If you prefer to just replace it instead I believe that it is less than a $20 Toyota part. Whichever approach you use it would only take about 5 minutes by someone with even the most basic mechanical skills. The price that I was quoted just to clean, not replace, is $217.50. This is absolutely ridiculous and of course I declined. I feel that the service of cleaning this filter since it's such a quick and easy job should just be complementary or about $20 max. By the way, I have been cleaning this filter myself and I had just cleaned it a couple of weeks prior so the service was not necessary anyway! I am sure that I will get a response saying that I don't fully understand or appreciate the difficulty of this service which is pretty much what the service manager told me at the time but as I said, do your homework first before agreeing to any service or at least have a trusted independent mechanic give you a second opinion. In another instance at this dealership when they did an oil change I checked the level when I returned home, I followed the correct procedure in doing this in level ground, etc. and found that the tech had overfilled it to about 3/8" over the top indicating mark in the dip stick. I know that some engines can be damaged by overfilling, I am not sure if mine is one but I am sure that engine manufacturers don't just put those marks on the dipstick for the hell of it! I will not be returning to this dealership. read more

Beware !!!!!! Service tech scam / put us in a very unsafe situation !!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! We got my car serviced today as normal, back breaks and air filter!! As I drove off lot break, steering and charge disconnection lights came on. Breaks and steering stopped working !!! Luckily I was still in the parking lot and not yet on the freeway just 100 yards away. I texted service and on my way back to the service managers office was stopped by the mechanic so must have seen my text and he nervously started telling me he test drove my car and got a loose battery light indicator and tightened the battery. "He thought it was fine now" (btw- none of this was on any of my paperwork and everything said the battery tested good). They then told me I have to pay an additional $350 for a new battery because they can't control when the battery dies. So I was trapped at the dealership with my young kids or pay them and they knew it. They let me drive away and put us in harms way and didn't even tell me about the light he saw on. Then used it as a way to get extra money !!!! They clearly fucked up something and messed up the battery. The battery is 1 year old. I haven't had any lights come on or issues turning the car on at all !!!!!!!!!! read more

Worst experience ever buying a car! We had an appointment with Alex to look at a Toyota RAV4. We arrived at the dealership and met with Alex and he said he had another appointment at the same time so he would be tag teaming with another employee-- he disappeared and Christian appeared and was very helpful at first. We went on a test drive and got back to the dealership. We told Christian that we would like to purchase the car. We went into the office sat down and started the paperwork. He disappeared for about five minutes and comes back in and says " the car you were looking at was just sold to someone else but the good news is I can give you this other one ( it was another color that we didn't even want) for a discounted price. First of all the discounted price was only $500 off and it was a car that we did didn't even want -we were in the process of buying the car we did want -I was baffled at how they could sell it out from under us!!! he said we have some customers that were looking at a Toyota Highlander and they couldn't afford it and decided they wanted the Toyota RAV4. I could not believe what I was hearing and I asked to speak to the manager-Javier was the manager and he was so obnoxious and kept telling me that " we didn't have a contract with you" They are very shady and do not care about their customers I would recommend you do not go there! To top that off, they had the audacity to text me after I declined service asking me if I'd want to trade my truck in for a new one. My truck is only worth around $8k or so. What a racket. Tore my door apart and the issue was obviously fixable by just reattatching the cable and yet the "technician" had no idea what he was looking at like he never ever seen the inside of any door ever. I bought a new Toyota months ago, my tire sensor indicated low pressure and the closest dealership was Toyota of Escondido. I had never been here, but the service department did a great job getting me checked in. Turns out I had a tire-weight that went into my tire... not a nail. This weight was so large, no-one makes a plug big enough. The service department didn't have a spare on hand, offered me a few options. This is the worst toyota dealership I have ever been to. The service here sucks all around. From sales to the service department. We went In to look at vehicles, sales guy barely acknowledges us. Then opens a vehicle and walks away doesn't ask if we have any questions. Then we go inside to get someone and literally at least 5 people standing around while not one person was outside seeing if anyone needed help. There were at least 2-3 other people walking around looking and no one helping them either. We get the guy to come out again and the questions we ask him about the vehicle aren't even answered accurately. He gave us one answer then we do further research and he was completely wrong. Toyota Escondido - Toyota tocoma 2026 - Car Dealers Near Me - Escondido, California

On Wednesday, April 2nd, I went to Toyota of Escondido with the intention of purchasing a car. They were the first Toyota dealership I visited, and my overall experience was not good. The sales people I interacted with seemed friendly, but that's just sales people being sales people. Friendly, but deceptive, opportunistic, and honestly, engaging in fraudulent practices. Going into this dealership, I knew what car I wanted down to the trim, color, and accessories/packages. I knew around how much it would cost with taxes and fees included. I did my research of which matching cars were in stock at the various dealerships, which were in transit, and which were in building phase. First, they had trouble finding me the car I wanted at any phase. They told me I would have to settle with letting go of either the trim, color, or certain accessories; I couldn't have all 3 (not true). Second, they left no room for negotiation, their sticker prices are surcharged when other Toyota dealerships in my area are not, and they added other mysterious miscellaneous charges during the closing process. They were firm on their prices even though their sticker prices were $2-4k more than other dealerships for nearly identical cars. And the out the door price they gave me was $6-8k more than other dealerships. They wouldn't let me take home the price breakdown or even let me look at it for an adequate amount of time before pressuring me to make a decision. I'm assuming they added other charges they didn't want me to see. Third, they used the tariffs as an excuse to pressure people to buy now, telling me the next shipment of cars are going have the increased sticker prices. They also, used that as an excuse to not budge on their prices. Normally, I would accept this excuse, but Toyota specifically said they would not raise prices due to the tariffs. So they were straight up lying to get people to buy their overpriced cars. Lastly, I came in with my own financing. I specifically told this to each person I worked with and that I did not want my credit pulled. The first lady said it would only be a soft inquiry, which I would have been agreeable to. But this was a lie. The second guy told me a hard inquiry was mandatory. I told him I still did not want my credit pulled, and he pressured me to sign the consent for a hard inquiry, citing security reasons and that it was mandatory if I wanted to buy a car, which was not true. They used my credit to see if they could offer me a better interest rate. They had me sign that form under false pretenses, which is not only lying, it's fraudulent. I tried to get them to rescind the inquiry (it's possible), but no reply. They're lucky I don't have enough money to bring a civil suit, otherwise I'd sue. There were many other little things that pissed me off, but these were the main things. I understand sales tactics and all dealerships use them, but to continually push despite being told no numerous times and using straight up lies and fraud to try to make the sale and have people use their financing doesn't sit right with me. I've had better experiences with Toyota of Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Poway, Kearny Mesa, and a few others not in San Diego County. I will no longer do business with this dealership; not even for maintenance on my new or old Toyota vehicles. And, I firmly do not recommend this Toyota Dealership. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING TO THIS LOCATION! Worst experience and very incompetent, disorganized and dishonest staff! I placed a deposit and took them two weeks to get my refund back because "I forgot to have someone sign". More details below. 1. Actions are fraudulent: I gave my credit card but they somehow used my husband's credit card which was not authorized. 2. When we came in to talk about the car, they pulled up my father in law info.. 3. When I asked for the refund receipt to be emailed it was sent to my brother's email. 4. Manager would lie and pressure you to come in within their "strict" policy of 72 hrs. But that's just a tactic because they still called me 5 days later to come in to check the car out. Horrible customer service. Came in for a fuel tank diagnostic and oil change. Left with a heavy engine knock and empty pockets. If you value your vehicles health do not come here for service. Completely unwilling to fix the issues they caused without me paying for the service they already provided. Service manager wanted to charge me an additional diagnostic fee to diagnose the knock they caused. This place is a joke. read more
