Best programs for Kids and Adults! In response to Declan C; it's Soccer, all soccer players know your kids and yourself might get bumped and fouled. It's part of the game! You wouldn't be playing soccer if it wasn't! I've been coming here for 15+ years and I expect my child or I (if I'm playing) to be kicked, bumped, and maybe even get a scratch or two. If you want to try another sport maybe golf should be a good one for your child, it's safe, fun, and requires a lot of skill! I hope this can be used as a tool for ownership to improve on the service and experience they are providing. This feedback is based on our family's experience with multiple seasons in the Pee Wee Leage. #1. The teams are incredibly unbalanced. It seems like all the kids with no soccer experience and whose athletic traits haven't blossomed yet, are on the same teams and then all the better kids are on another. Result = Nobody has fun and Nobody learns. Solution = NCSP needs to do a better job at screening and evaluating the players, so fair teams can be created. #2. The parents who sign their kids up are extremely flaky. Many times there's not enough kids present to have a real game. So one team forfeits and the other has to share their players (which the kids don't seem to enjoy as much). Oftentimes, there's not enough kids for substitutes, so the kids are just exhausted running around the whole game, in Poway heat, with no shade. Result = Waste of time and money. Kids are overworked with nothing really to be learned, except how to get exhausted and overheated. Solution = NCSP needs to engage family's more and create an environment where flakiness can't run rampant. #3. The place is falling apart. I played here when I was a kid and it looks like absolutely NOTHING has been replaced since then. Horrible seating/viewing for families. Poway can get HOT, some shade on the field is a must (at least on the smaller field for the little kids, they're only 4-5 years old!). There's no sense of pride in ownership and absolutely ZERO Managerial Leadership. It is basically run by a bunch of kids. This place has been holding on by a thread for a decade...I'm surprised it hasn't snapped. Result = a very poor experience for the kids and family. Missed opportunities for skill learning and growth. No sense of a sports "community." Solution = NCSP needs to invest some money into revitalizing the property and re-evaluate their business model/practices. NCSP needs to have a strong adult leadership presence and create a sense of soccer community. Prices are already quite low. I think people would be willing to pay a little more for a much better experience. read more

I just resigned my kids (7 and 4) for another 12 weeks session, this will be the 4th session in a row so about a year coming here. This soccer school is fantastic for beginners and future soccer stars. The coaches are very loud, energetic, encouraging and hands on in the moment coaching, which is extremely important. Many kids in the lower groups are beginners, so "Freeze" in the middle of the drills/scrummages to advise and guild is excellent teaching. My boy has been coached by Cierra who controls the class and kept the kids engaged. Lindsey and Jordan have coached my daughter for the last few sessions. Both ladies are super nice, very knowledgeable and great coaches. Also John at front desk (the director) has been very helpful in sharing information about all local kids soccer and have excellent customer service. Highly recommend this place! read more

They have a good kids program but their adult leagues are terribly organized especially during Covid. Leave your kids here but go to Poway Sportsplex unless you want go to a low-budget facility with low effort management. read more

This review is mainly focused on the Pee Wee and Junior "game only" leagues for kids. With three boys playing there for a cumulative 9 years, NCSP has been a godsend for us. We practice skill development at home (kicking, passing, dribbling) and use the NCSP as the one time a week for our boys to get game experience and practice their skills on the field. Having participated in about 30 seasons, I can say that NCSP is very well executed. The refs and concessions staff are supportive teens and 20 somethings that are also generally soccer aficionados. This lends an air of fun and youthfulness to the experience and they tend to relate well with the kids. The coaches are all volunteer parents, and with 30 seasons under our belts, I'm surprised at how few bad experiences we've had. Most of the parent coaches give equal playing time and strike the right balance between encouragement and constructive feedback. The teams at these levels will get a mix of players. Some kids play competitive and use NCSP for extra game time, some players are new to the sport, and a lot in between. I think NCSP accommodates this mix very well. If you're looking to see if your kid "likes soccer", but has never played before, you'll likely be fine if your child is 4 or 5, but around 6 and up the level of play is high enough that you might want to mentally prepare that the first 8-week season may not go so well. Might take a few seasons to really try it out, or you might start a rec league and then transfer over to NCSP after the child is comfortable with the mechanics of soccer. There are some parent coaches that get a little too serious. They try to stack their teams or adopt an overly competitive tone toward the kids that doesn't fit well with "once a week, game only" league. Rarely a coach will blatantly favor his/her own child. This is unavoidable, but I think NCSP does their best to balance the teams and deal with out-of-line parents, while not stifling parents/coaches involvement. They have a "max 3 goals per player" rule that helps avoid utter blow outs. It's very affordable, we're very happy with the level of play and progress our kids have made for the amount of time/money spent, and they do a good job managing the volunteer coach situation. We love this place. Recommend Pee Wee/Junior Leagues If: * You love soccer and want your child to develop, but can't or choose not to play competitively. * Your child plays competitively, but you want supplemental game time where your child can get a lot of touch time without all the disruptions of "out-of-bounds" and "throw-ins" * You want to try soccer out in a supportive environment and don't mind if it takes your child a few seasons to start hanging with the other kids. * You've played in rec leagues (like YMCA) but are looking for a higher skill level of play. read more

Solid 3 star review from me but because of the instructors my godson had for his first Thumper practice, easy 4! Located in the cuts of Poway is NCSP which promotes youth soccer. It was my godson's first practice so I wanted to be there, not just for pictures, but for support. He was given a bright green shirt and was pretty excited to wear it. Thumpers practice on the far field which is enclosed for a number of reasons. Family and friends were able to join their child on the field so I was able to be mobile with pictures. The Thumpers had 2 instructors and the gentleman who lead the class was first class! He communicated well with each child and used their first names to get their attention. He was very attentive and you can tell he loved coaching and playing with the kids. It was hot out there that Sunday I attended so be sure to bring some water for you and your kids. read more

I am editing my previous review of questionable age limits after the owner responded to me assuring me this is 100% against their policy. I really do think NCSP is a great environment for kids wanting to learn the skills of soccer while also gaining good sportsmanship. We have been coming here for little kickers for a year and My son loves it. I like that there are lots of classes to choose from which means there's plenty of opportunity to do a make up class if you miss one. The location we go to is kind of old but we don't care. We love coach F he does a super job of keeping the kids in check and disciplines the kids well for not listening and paying attention. read more

I recently signed up son up for soccer, the cottontails. He's 2.5. I was so ecstatic to find NCSP and could not be happier or more pleased with the care and customer service me and my family has received from Jon Martin. From the very beginning I had several questions regarding make up classes, prorated rates, and other things all soccer, especially as a new soccer mom! We originally signed him up in Poway, but coming from Valley Center it was a bit of a drive. Jon helped me from day 1 answering all of my questions, then later helped me get transferred to Escondido after I made the decision to switch the schedule to be closer to home. Jon was not only friendly and kind, he was through in all his explanations, efficient in managing my time, extremely diligent on making sure we were receiving the best pricing, and truly went above and beyond to make sure all my questions were answered with the utmost accuracy and detail. I myself as a new mom to a young son remember thinking how proud I would be if that was in fact my boy someday. I had to write a review thanking him, and thanking NCSP for bringing such joy to these children's and families lives, especially in such overwhelming times, especially for our children. You are truly a gift to the whole community, and I am so grateful for the services you offer and the love you show towards the betterment of children and families everywhere. My son and I are super greatful that NCSP is offering after school camps. The camp is 3 hours long starting at 3:30pm. My son was super excited to attend. They worked on skills, played games, and had fun. He will be a champ on the feild once leagues start again. read more

My 12 year old son has played there Non stop since he was two, not only in various leagues but also attending all their coaching lessons. Although he was not very good at the beginning they ignited his passion to play with a very fun environment geared to teaching and most importantly for kids to enjoy themselves. All the coaches are friendly, know their soccer and are excellent in their interactions with the players. NCSP is like Disneyland in Poway for kids who like soccer. My 7 year old twins have player there for probably 15 seasons now and love the place. We have held birthday parties there with the great staff and play there 1-2 times a week. My kids aren't the next coming of Beckham but they love the 4x4 kids field and have met so many friends there. The field is great, the lighting is great, the people are great. My kids have played almost every sport- but the most exciting to watch is the kids 4x4 on the little indoor field. Game never stops and the kids have a blast! Check it out. read more

My parents used to drag me here when I was a kid and I always resented them for that. Now that I am older and love soccer this place is right for me. I play here often both on a team and just to practice for fun. The staff here is super nice, and ready to make a fun environment. I use to only come of the snack tickets at the end of games, but now I come because I know that if I want to unwind by kicking some balls this is the spot to do it! read more

Their focus is on quantity of paying enrollees, not quality time for children. There are 15-20 children per instructor. Young 1-3 yr old children are strongarmed into structured soccer instruction before ever being allowed to enjoy themselves. I don't have any experience sending older children here. However, you should definitely seek out alternative soccer camps for children under 5, especially if you want their entrance to soccer to be a fun experience they look forward to each week. read more

My son has been in the little kickers program for the past 2 years. He loves it and his soccer skills have dramatically improved. The coaches are great and really make it fun for the kids. Most teams also have an assistant coach and there is less consistency with the assistants from week to week. The fields are decent but the park as a whole is pretty outdated. Also, it is extremely hot during the summer sessions (and sometimes in the fall and spring too- it is Poway after all) almost unbearable at times. There is some shade for parents to stand under but none for the poor kiddos who are on the field. All in all though, I am very happy with our experience at NCSP. read more

My boys participated in skills programs for about 2 years before I finally gave up on making this work. The skills clinics can be hit or miss but are mostly positive and the coaches are ok--especially for older kids. However, the leagues are run by Dave (John runs skills classes). My experience with the leagues has been categorically bad across all age ranges and across all of the parents with whom I've spoken. There are no coaches (parents are voluntold to coach and sometimes as you walk your child onto the field and are different each week and are given absolutely no guidance). Sometimes nobody shows up and there is no game and you get no refund. Refs are kids who also have no idea what they're doing and are given limited guidance and no support since leadership typically goes home at times when the leagues are playing. They allow parents to act crazy and threaten one another on the sidelines. No thanks. This is meant to be a fun and active skill development opportunity for children and adults to participate in soccer--not thunder dome meets cheaper by the dozen (hopefully Yelp won't let Dave pay to delete my review again...) read more

My son has been going to NCSP for about 3 years now (on and off). He's tried the classes, the league, the micro-leagues for soccer. Can't say he's learned a lot of technique, but he is out there trying ... running under the hot sun, supporting his team, learning how to play with others. Yay for the couches for keeping the team spirit up! The facilities, however, are outdated and need some sprucing up. There are no healthy snack choices for an after-game treat, and there is only one bathroom for all the patrons. I'd like to give 3 stars but I guess that happens after some improvements to the facilities are made. read more

This is where you introduce your little ones to this great sport. Running, teamwork, foot-eye coordination and fun. Both our boys have played here since they were 3 or so. The indoor soccer arena is just the right setting to start the kids in the game. It's small (for the little kids) and they can easily cover the field and score goals. The owners have it well organized and the leagues are 8 weeks long. Pick your day and range of times. They also have adult leagues. read more

We've had good experiences with NCSP. My thoughts: 1. Getting the class time you want is difficult, especially if it's a weekend class. They give priority to currently-enrolled students which is nice if you're enrolled but almost impossible to get the time slot you want if you're not. 2. There are a lot of kids in the classes. That can be challenging during the younger years. Getting them to focus is challenging enough, add 15 kids and it's an adventure. 3. Know that (especially for younger kids) it's about having fun and not about becoming a serious soccer player or playing actual games. 4. We've been to a birthday party here and it was fun (for 5 year olds). 5. It is a fun way to get your kids moving and teach them that living an active lifestyle is important. 6. We liked the Little Sluggers (baseball) program better than the soccer. Seems like they learned more and did more actual baseball skills. 7. I don't like that you have to pay an annual membership fee in addition to the cost of the program. Overall, good introduction to sports. read more

Great place for young children who just want to ave fun and develop skills. Parent volunteer coaches for 11yo+ teams are over the top competitive. Expect kids to practice before and stay for coaching after and won't give them much play if they don't. Park describes an elaborate process used in placing but coaches circumvent or flat out request changes which are accommodated. For older players not a good fit if you just want to have fun. New turf on indoor field was very slippery when wet. No response to parent complaints until someone was seriously injured. read more

This is a great program for the little ones - they have a choice whether they want sink or swim (thrown right into games to learn as they play) or just instructional classes (where they do drills, are taught technique, and then scrimmage at the end). I highly recommend for preschoolers letting them start with the games only to see if they even like soccer, then later signing them up for the instructional class to learn to put some finesse on their playing - I did that with my 4 year old and he's OBSESSED and wants to play every season. My 13 year old also likes the Sunday games and it was a great way to end his weekends. Unlike PYSL, they actually have coaches (not just parent volunteers) and adult referees. It is a very well run program and amazingly efficient. We tried Poway Youth Soccer as soon as we moved to the area in 2010 and it was such a horrible experience for my oldest son, he quit playing soccer entirely for 2 years (after having played non-stop from the age of 4)! NCSP was able to get him back into it, back up in his skill level, and having a blast! Also - their prices are VERY reasonable and they offer scholarships (large reduction in enrollment prices) for kids from lower income families. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because the lack of seating for watching little ones in the arena just outside of the office. There is a deck with picnic tables lined up along the one side. If they are full - well you have to stand. And you can't see the game from any other side of the arena, so there's limited space where you can even stand. While I definitely enjoy being able to look down into the playing arena "bowl" and watch from above, there needs to be some types of bleachers or stands put in around the whole thing for all the parents. read more

This place has really good coaches for both soccer and Tball. I have children in both classes and the coaches keep it fun while getting some skills in as well. We've been really happy with the non competitive nature of the classes.my daughter is also in the skills class and they are learning some pretty impressive stuff. This place is pretty cool. Non-competitive teams for the younger kids which I guess is normal, but honestly gets boring to watch. Don't teach a lot of skills or control, but they get the kids running around and they give them a T-shirt with a big rabbit on it. My son had fun but my daughter was more interested in the horses that would cross the trail behind the park. It's not too expensive. The only negative thing I will say is that they need to train the teenagers that work behind the desk as far as answering general questions but overall a cool place. read more

All 4 of my kids have played at this facility over the last 12 years. They've played other sports and in other leagues, but NCSP has been the best bang for my buck. I'm surprised indoor soccer is not more popular than it is. 1. Easier on parents than outdoor soccer: * All games played in one location rather than all over the county * Games start on time - every time * In-house referees always ready * Spectators sit close enough to see all of the action * Clubhouse has a good variety of refreshments - so no snack preparation is required * 8 week sessions easier to commit to 2. Better learning environment for the players: * 3 on 3, 4 on 4, and 6 on 6 leagues result in more "touches" per game than outdoor soccer * Walls around fields keep the ball in play for more opportunities/action per game * Mini-field play requires less running but more ball control * Every player gets to play at least half of every game * Teams are balanced to match each other and have players with differing abilities on each so that the focus is on building skills rather than building a dominating team read more

We (my family) have been customers of NCSP for nearly 20 years. Our family has played on women's teams, men's teams, coed teams, and I have coached multiple teams in the various leagues offered. The facilities are nice and the staff is friendly and professional. So many different people consistently play in the leagues that we see the same families each week. This makes it an awesome family friendly environment were we see friends and have a great time exercising each week while playing the beautiful game. We have consistently had our expectations exceeded when we have needed any support from Dave (owner) and his staff. The coaching and parenting philosophy at NCSP is also positive and loving. I highly recommend that if you need a family friendly environment to learn, play, or watch soccer that NCSP is THE place to go. read more
